Ambience was amazing! Great in summer to go have a dinner or date. But service was not great at all. Food was good not great. Must order the cheese( saganaki) appetiser. We ordered eggplant with feta and Athena chicken

Loved the ambience and decor of this Greek restaurant. Friendly service and convenient location in the West Loop. For lunch, I ordered SPANAKOPITAKIA and Braised Lamb. The lamb was just okay to be honest. I didn’t care for the tomato sauce much. Although the lamb was very tender, it didn’t have much flavor. Overall I enjoyed my experience. Perhaps I’ll try the lamb chops next time to see if that’s better.

We visited during Greek Fest Chicago. Even then, the line to enter moved fast. We got in with a 20 min wait vs other places that were 90 min. The food was good and ample. We all ended up with about half boxed up to go. The atmosphere was nice. We sat in the patio with retracted storefronts. A nice Mediterranean vibe. We would go again.

A Greek restaurant in Greek town that transports you to Greece. Athena is dreamy, it’s vibes are breezy with one of the best patios this city has seen. And the food is scratch made deliciousness! That saganaki and baklava! Get the veggie moussaka! Indulge in their Greek wines list! And great for families too!

One of my favorite restaurants in the city! Their saganaki is the best and I really enjoyed their lamb chops. Wide selection of Greek wines, dips, plates, and their baklava was amazing for dessert. My favorite part is the outdoor patio space, it transports you to Greece! Highly recommend.

Was saved in my ‘want to go’ places for a long time and finally made it. It was worth it! The vibe was amazing with the way that it opens to the outside and the waterfall in the background. The cocktails where creative and strong. The food was delicious and filling, but we still made room for dessert. You can order anything from more ‘commonly known’ Greek food to dishes you might not have heard of. Our server was attentive, and we didn’t wait for him to come around. The food came out with the right amount of time, our entrees took some time but I would expect that for food that is freshly made.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Athena Greek Restaurant in the heart of Chicago, and I must say it was a delightful experience that left a lasting impression. From the moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the warm and inviting ambiance, which instantly transported me to the beautiful landscapes of Greece. The restaurant's interior décor featured a tasteful combination of rustic charm and contemporary elegance, creating a comfortable and cozy atmosphere for guests to enjoy their meals. The staff greeted me with genuine smiles and courteous gestures, making me feel right at home. The menu at Athena is an impressive culinary journey through the flavors of Greece, offering an array of traditional and modern dishes. I started my meal with their Saganaki appetizer, and it was a cheesy goodness that set the perfect tone for what was to come. The selection of entrees was extensive, and I opted for the Combo Plate. The meal was a harmonious blend of flavors and textures. What truly impressed me about Athena was the attention to detail in the presentation of each dish. The plating was exquisite, demonstrating the chef's commitment to both taste and aesthetics. It felt like an artful experience that elevated the dining affair beyond just a meal. While the majority of my visit to Athena was wonderful, I would say that there is room for improvement. However, considering the quality of the food, service, and ambiance, it was undoubtedly a worthwhile treat for a special occasion or a night out with loved ones. In conclusion, Athena Greek Restaurant offers a delightful Greek culinary experience in the heart of Chicago. With its inviting ambiance, authentic flavors, and exceptional service, it's a great choice for those seeking a taste of Greece right in the Windy City. I will undoubtedly be returning to relish in their delicious dishes and warm hospitality again soon!

First time at Athena and we had a wonderful dining experience. They offer a mouthwatering array of Greek dishes that leave taste buds craving for more. Everything is fresh and flavorful. It's a five-star gem that consistently delivers an unforgettable dining experience. Get your reservation today, it's a must visit. We had the : Saganaki, Shrimp Athena, Vegetarian Pasta, Souvlaki, and Chocolate Mousse Cake. Each dish was a 10/20. Order the Saganaki, it is delicious and fun to watch it be lit on fire. The service and ambience was perfect. I would definitely visit again.

A must visit Chicago Greek dining experience, for locals and tourists. Great food and drink options. For a refreshing tequila and mezcal drink, try the Santorini Sunset.

I love this place the Greek food is amazing. This is one of my sisters go to when we come to visit. The atmosphere is great and the staff is so nice. We always do the hummus board with 3 samples and mix them up each time they are all wonderful. We got the Greek fries and they are delicious piled high with feta. I got vegetarian pasta and it was also great. Baklava is an absolute must! Portions are large so be prepared to take some with you.

When we get Greek food in the city we typically go to another establishment, it was closed and let me tell you, Athena was on point! The whipped feta appetizer was amazing, braised lamb and chicken riganati were perfect! Well Done!

The staff were exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, guiding me through a culinary journey of authentic Greek flavors. The food was nothing short of exquisite. Went here May 2021 for dinner on a Monday night. It wasn’t too busy but we still had a reservation. We ordered the Flaming Saganaki, shared the Paidakia (4 Lamb Chops, Pilaf Rice and Potatoes) and then got an extra side of rice pilaf. The Flaming Saganaki was the fan favorite, almost every table ordered it and it was always really interesting to watch. Food was decent.

I enjoyed visiting Athena. Great vegetarian options. I had the spanakopita for dinner, and it was delicious. Friendly & attentive wait staff. My only complaint is that the atmosphere was really loud. Not great for conversations. But other than that, I'd definitely go back.

There are a lot of Greek restaurants along this stretch of Halsted. In fact, this area is known as Greektown. There are many old school Greek restaurants here. One of those old school restaurants is Athena Greek Restaurant. This is, of course, not to be confused with The Athenian Room in Lincoln Park (also on Halstead). I have been here a few times, and once recently. One, the food is very good. They have a very traditional menu. So if you looking for fusion or ultra modern this restaurant would not be for you. I ordered spanakopita, pork chops, spanakopita and the lamb loin chops. I enjoyed everything, but I particularly enjoyed the spanakopita and the lamb loin chops. The dough for the spanakopita was crispy and the filling was delicious. The lamb loin chops were tasty and tender. They also lit the saganaki, which is a must for me. Second, the atmosphere is amazing. I’ve only gone in the summer, and that the best time to go. They have a great patio and they open up a wall of the restaurant to create a great indoor/outdoor atmosphere. Third, the service was very good. The staff and my waiter were very friendly. Also, my food came out hot and fast. In sum, this is a must visit Greek restaurant in Greektown.

At 7pm Tuesday Athena was crowded enough to have a wait-list for groups, but as a couple we were seated in minutes. Lighting and decor lend a very Greek feeling.. Rhere's plenty of room to move even when it's packed, but the conversational background noise is loud! Most important, the food was good. The chicken was on the dry side, but flavor was well balanced with lemon and pepper. Generous rice. No greens on the plate. Wish we'd ordered the saganaki.

Salvador was our waiter and was amazing. I’ve been a few times, food was great per usual.

Great location. Free valet parking. Beautiful interior. Great outdoor/indoor patio. The food was so fresh and flavorful. Authentic Greek dining experience. Ordered the Saganaki, but they couldn’t light it on fire due to the open patio. The service was below average. I was dinning for a birthday celebration and no desserts were even offered. The hostess/server staff seemed eager to leave for the night. Otherwise I would dine again.

The fried eggplant app is amazing! Get it! Served fresh & hot. So were the Greek fries - fried to perfection & so good w the feta cheese. Excellent service from tolos. Taking off one star because my main dish, the Greek combo plate was served lukewarm.

Athena was recommended as the place to go in Chicago’s Greektown, and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere and overall vibe were outstanding. It’s a big place with great energy without being too loud or over the top. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable, helping us pick a wine that went well with our food choices. Everything was delicious. The lemon chicken soup was wonderful. You can’t skip the saganaki! The flaming cheese is so good and just part of the experience. It goes well with all the pita and dips too. For mains, we had the gyro platter and Greek salad with chicken. It was all so good! We had a fantastic date night and would recommend Athena to anyone. Food was good, and the service I felt was nice too. They come around frequently and ask if there’s anything they can do. Lamb chops weren’t my favorite for the price. Best Saganaki I’ve had though!

This was hands-down one of the best Greek restaurants I've ever eaten at. Amazing apps. We tried the feta with olives. Amazing and fresh feta imported from Greece. The Shrimp Athena with onions, peppers, and feta served hot was a meal in itself. The gyro plate was enough for two, and soooo good. Also, try the Greek wines. We had the Portes Merlot 2019, and it was perfect!

Very nice place, good service and great flavors on their food. The plates are very big, very generous. Loved it. HIGHLY recommend the Moussaka and the Cheesecske Baklava!

One of the best dining experiences I've had in Chicago thus far. The atmosphere was elevated yet fun and inviting. The open layout and the staff fostered a lively atmosphere. The servers were genuinely friendly and relaxed. They were attentive, yet you did not feel rushed. You had the time to order each course when you felt like it. The food was fresh and the portions were generous. It stands out from the street-food-esque Greek cuisine we usually encounter in the states.

I felt like we were in Greece again. This restaurant is absolutely a new favorite of mine. The food was excellent. The portion sizes are large (which I don’t love), but it’s fine if you bring people and an appetite. The service was absolutely outstanding, even beginning with the valet drivers. I can’t wait to try more on the menu.
