I have been going to Medici for decades, now. Since before the bakery had it's own location. Their cinnamon rolls and croissants are some of my favorite in the city. I don't make it to Medici as much as I'd like to anymore, but I always try to stop by when I'm in Hyde Park. They do have a lot of grab and go salads/sandwiches, etc. as well.

For $43.36 for 2 sandwiches, you would expect a top notch take out, but this was a big disappointment for the second time around. The $17 “steak” sandwich had a paper thin cut of super dry piece of meat and 10” thick cut of bread. The tuna was decent size but poor presentation. Food was ordered at 4:05, picked up at 4:35, and at 4:50 it was cold, fries were soggy, and on the top of this they wanted to charge me $1.75 for a side of ranch dressing. They did “exchange” my spicy Mayo for a side of ranch at no charge. Wow!! Gracious. My dine in experience before Covid time was great. But for the take out I would go elsewhere!!!! Sorry, not for $44.

This place has an old school charm about it. Very popular with the University of Chicago folks and Hyde Park locals alike. We had chicken fettuccine and a smokey joe sandwich with coleslaw this time. We enjoyed both the dishes. This place also has nice pizza, milkshakes, etc. There is a takeaway area that is always a line. That just shows the place is good.

I ordered a thin crust sausage and half pepperoni pizza. The pizza was cold when I received it and honestly nasty. I will never come back to this restaurant it wasn’t worth the money or time spent ordering. There was barely any pepperoni on the pizza as you can see from the photo. When I walked in to pickup the order the people behind the counter were very rude. They took forever to find my order then forgot my 2 orders of fries. I was asked about five times if I already paid for my order which I repeatedly my responded with yes. It’s like they thought I was trying to steal from the establishment. This restaurant is very unorganized and does not have good food at all.

Really good raspberry pastry and coffee from the bakery! Went there a couple days ago for breakfast. Nice place to sit outside. Would only recommend getting some plant pots in the area for a better aesthetic

The place looks cool, but that's it! I had the Blue chesse burger and fries. Didn't take a pic as I was disappointed. The potato bun was dry and not toasted. It appeared to be old bread they were trying to get rid of it, and the fries were cold. My friend ordered the fettuccine alfredo w/chicken and shrimp. It was decent but not enough for me to go back for.

I got the Cajun Blackened Burger ($15 after tax and tip) which was delicious and generous portion. I asked for medium and they definitely delivered. The patty was juicy and smoky, just to my likings. The only downside is the Cajun Blackened flavor didn't quite come through but I would still recommend you to try it out once, especially if you're in the area!

Really fun atmosphere and really good food. I had the Garbage burger but it wasn't garbage! No sir! Or Ma'am. My wife had a sandwich with fig jam and manchego cheese with gluten free bread which she really enjoyed.

Classic for good reason! Great for eating with family and friends—particularly good pizza and drinks. They also have good plant-based sandwich options. I also like the steak quesadillas. The upstairs outdoor seating is great when it is warm.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is amazing. And I was thoroughly happy with the food and service. I'd go every week if I was a local.

Food was delicious. Unfortunately, I couldn't build my own monster sandwich, due to the Art Festival that day, so I went with my 2nd choice. Glad I did. Chicken Alfredo was so good! Hubby and son got burgers and fries. They enjoyed those as well. This was our first time. We'd definitely like to come back.

I had the personal pepperoni pizza that is always delicious and my sister had the "garbage" pizza. We both enjoyed our pizzas and they were HUGE! I however did not like the apple pie. The crust was to thick, no juice and it lacked a good Cinnamon/sugar ratio.

Nothing crazy about this place but was looking in the area so I grabbed a bite. Started with the caesar salad it was mid, and the salad dressing had no flavor. 7.2. Next, I went with the chill and this was a little better but the chili did come out room temperature. The chili wasn't bad it had the beans, and tomatoes and was seasoned okay. 7.5. It was served with stale bread with butter a total disappointment too. Lastly, I got the personal-size garage pizza. The pizza is decent it has a lot of different toppings which turned out pretty good. 8.3. Overall I would just come here for the pizza, if ever back this way. 7.7.

Don't get the hype at all. The server was nice, but they had 1 server for the entire floor and it was packed. It took us 25 minutes just to order, and then another 30 minutes for them to bring us our food, which were just burgers. The burgers were cold and had obviously been sitting out for awhile already. Also, the Reuben burger was literally just sauerkraut on top of a regular burger. Oh, they also forgot to give us our appetizers which we were charged for but I didn't realize until getting home.

I love this place. Pizza and burger place. Try to ignore the rest unless you need a salad. The skinny fries are on the exceptional side. Good bottomless coffee. Carve your name into a table. I’ve been frequenting this place for 50+ years. We had a grumpy server this time.

I love this place...Nice a cozy for couples , friend & family to have a bit to eat....So I had delicious salmon burgers with coleslaw and a fruity gin drink 🤗And my friend had a personal size pepperoni pizza.... This place, kind of reminds me of Dumpling restaurant & Bar on rush street😊 👍

This is an excellent local restaurant in the Hyde Park neighborhood in Chicago! The pizzas, steaks, and hamburgers are all delicious! Get over to Medici's for an excellent family restaurant!

Monica was an excellent server, took great and prompt care of us without hovering. The food...OMG! We ordered chips and house-made guacamole. The chips were hot, fresh and homemade. We could not stop eating them! The steak sandwich was very impressive. A large piece of perfectly cooked steak, just the right amount of cheese and sauteed onions on a fresh roll! Next time we visit Chicago this will definitely be on our list!!

I loved everything about this Chicago pizza institution. They were very busy but our server still took good care of us. Food was amazing, there's even a gluten free option. Highly recommended for some great casual eats.

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Good prices and value for what it is. The food came quickly and my family left happy. Good drink menu (including non-alcoholic options). The downside is my burger and fries were not hot, but the pizzas were very hot. The burger bum was too dry and the fries were a shade on the under cooked side. But positives outweigh any negatives and if you're in the neighborhood this is worth a stop!

Lunch date; had the cranberry, turkey & Brie sandwich with fries. The fries were hot & tasty, turkey & cheese very good but bread slightly hard and not so fresh. Service friendly but slow. My other guest had the carrot cake for dessert which was fair to taste, too dense for my taste. The table of patrons next to us had a delectable looking lunch, single deep dish pizza & brownie sundae. I did leave and purchase a chocolate croissant in their bakery.

Went for a rooftop lunch and had a very pleasant experience. Our server was fun, and the food was delicious. I got the Spinach Lasagna, with plain Cheesecake for desert. Nice portion sizes.

Diner with a very Italian vibe. There are actually different vibes which coexists.very old place vibe , story teller vibe Their wooden furniture is all scribbled showing the age of the restaurant and also the No of stories born there. 55 years of experience and this shows in their pizzas. Though I found it lil heavy but rest every other person was enjoying. Their garlic bread was yumm Burger too looked yummy fries were calling me from my neighbour’s plate Dillion looked after us today. Very fine guy with lot’s of patience n smile on the face. Other staff too looked friendly I loved the place. Would want to go again
