Such a great place. An impressively faithful recreation of a Belgian beer bar, lots of nice memorabilia around complemented with some beautiful Americana. The food was delicious, the beer was excellent and varied and the service was top notch. Great evening.

We always love coming here. They usually have some great beer on tap including a lot of my favorite: Belgians. The burgers are great. This time around we got the Monk’s Cobb salad minus the olives and it was really really good. We also ordered the loaded tots which were good but needed more spices. Maybe salsa? Something anyway. The evening we were there they had a glass etching event for New Belgium. So we got two glasses with the Monk’s pub logo on it. Super fun. The atmosphere can get a bit loud but hey, that’s a bar. There are some neat little bookshelf nooks to sit in. We would highly recommend this place!

Wonderful! If you want that old world feel, check out Monk's Pub! We had shots of malort, which is a must try. If you're afraid to try it, just man up and pucker up! Try the chili beer cheese burger. If that's not to your liking, try the burger with the garlic jalapeno cheddar cheese. This place has an old world feel, definitely a must try in Chicago!!! Thanks for making us feel at home!!

Yesterday we had a bad experience here by their staff: specifically, the male bartender. Started going to Monks pub last August and he and the female bartender got to know me and my friend. Yesterday my friend stepped out to have a cigarette only to be followed back inside by a person asking him for money. The bartenders (both the female and male) asked him to leave and eventually he called the cops but the guy wasn’t moving. My friend reached in his pocket and gave him $2 only to then be yelled at by the male bartender. My friend and I were terrified as this guy is behind us and didn’t know if he was armed or not. Instead of protecting us he basically went on to pouring drinks. I immediately asked for the check because I was frightened and didn’t want to be in there as the bar tenders are yelling with this guy. After we paid and we’re heading to the door to leave ,the male bartender proceed to yell to my friend, clear across the bar saying ... you ever give someone money, don’t ever step back in here. Instead of protecting us, this horrible person of a bar tender felt the need to humiliate his customers in front of the entire bar. I told the female bartender he has no right to say this and no basis to be yelling at us. What is ironic is that my friend’s $2 is what got the guy to leave the premises and not the bar tenders’ threat of calling the police. So it was interesting that he felt compelled to punish and humiliate us. Very unfortunate as I will never step foot in this place and I will make sure I tell people not go to this pub because of the potential harassment they could face by this unprofessional bar tenders. Buyer beware!

This is a great local pub. It is an independent small business with a very friendly staff. I had their maple beer. It was extremely delicious. It is the kind of beer you want to sip slowly with a nice conversation. I also had an extremely good hamburger. They are know for there burgers. If you are looking for an early evening tavern in downtown Chicago try this one.

Working crowd in the loop fills up this place quick after work hours on weekdays and weekends are usually packed. Beer options galore, would definitely recommend some of their Belgian style beers. It gets pretty loud in here so it might get difficult to talk but there's seating for large groups (we had a party of 8) so it makes it a fun hangout place.

This place is great, very good food. First time and I am not disappointed. So good. Will be coming back more often.

Wonderful to have re-opened this February 2021. Even with the single server attending to a whole restaurant of customers on a busy Friday evening, she was amazing with her service. Selection of beers and prices are still top notch; no ridiculous COVID-19 service fees tacked on like 99% of other Chicago restaurants. Also, great food options; their nachos were fresh, satisfying for a party of three, and other dinner items were excellent. Feels refreshing to finally enjoy a true English pub serving a wide variety of beers and traditional English food.

Meet up after work on weekday at this place was a good idea! Not so loud music so it's a nice place to have a chitchat lol Plenty of tables and seats at the back. Nice and super helpful server. Tips : Women restroom located to the right hand side near the front when you get in the restaurant.

From the outside this looks like an oldie worldie English pub but this does not translate on the inside. Still a nice enough place. Tried their fried chicken sandwich with their own made Pilsner. Both were very middle of the road. Enjoyed the barman who served me. Very prime and proper but super friendly. Not sure I would return but if in the right mood, who knows

Love this place! Great that they get the beers we had in small towns in Belgium that you can't get anywhere else in Chicago. Friendly staff like Paulie and Mike make you feel at home! That bison burger is awesome, as well as other items on the menu. Come on in and grab a beer!

This place was awesome! Such a warm feeling inside with all the books and all the wood. They had a tremendous selection of Belgian beers. Dash took good care of us! If I lived in Chicago, this would be a frequent stop!

Stopped in between the airport and our hotel. The warm interior was cozy with the cooler weather outside. Had an appetizer, couple of (hard to find) beers and espresso martinis. Dash treated us great!

This place is always packed, which is already a great sign! Monk's has some of the friendliest bartenders in the city, and everyone on the staff always has a good recommendation if you can't decide what beer to get (my go-to beer is always Delirium Tremens!) A great place to grab a couple of beers and snack on some complimentary peanuts, but you might as well order the fried cheese curds with sriracha ranch! Also, beer is very fairly priced, especially for the area. I highly recommend grabbing a coveted seat at the bar if you can! Great for a solo lunch, or with pals.

Inside is so cool! You really feel like you went back in time to an old European pub. Beersteins and barrels everywhere. The staff was very friendly and catering and the place has one of the best beer selections I've come across in all of Chicago

Looking for great pub food with a large selection of beer and drinks? This pub is a great venue is you are in the area and famously know for its floors filled with peanuts. Make sure to try the authentic Chicago fried cheese curds and if you are brave enough go for the excellent poutine burger, with a side of poutine!

This place is a hidden gem. I tasted three new beers and all were quality and tasty. The food also was very good. The ambience is what what might think of as Swiss Chalet, Americanized. I loved it and highly recommend it!

They have Chimay white, red and blue and a few other great beers. Lots of beer on tap and the burger was really good. Would surely go back for some Belgium beers and a burger.

Quite a nice joint. Wooden interiors, pretty spacious. Dark corners to get hammered, as it should be. Prices are OK and the service was not neglecting us, which is hard to find in a pub.

Service was great. Food is good, it's pub food so manage your expectations accordongly. Great draft beer selection and large bottled beer selection. Atmosphere is good if you like loud and upbeat crowds.

This was my first meal in Chicago 25 years ago and is still one of my favorites. I love that I can walk down the line with them while they put together my burrito or tacos. I can see them grilling everything fresh, and they have so many choices! They have a taco happy hour where they're discounted, and I seem to forget that every time I'm there during those hours and get a burrito.

You know, they kind of have an unnecessary attitude here. I didn't really understand why there wasn't more of a good vibe? I absolutely loved the decor, the beers felt a pinch overpriced. The food is nothing to write home about. But overall it was a pretty good experience.

Good chili

Pretty great dive-bar! Went on a Saturday night and found it not too crowded, which was great. They had a good selection of beers on tap, ample seating, two pool tables, and two dart boards. The place looks smaller from outside, but then you realize there's a whole other floor to it. It's a pretty cozy place and the vibe is super chill. Definitely coming back here.

I like the food even though bars are not known by serving the best salads I ventured myself to trying one and to my surprise it was good! It has body, texture and it was pretty tasty the drinks as well, nicely decorated, staff quick & attentive of their customers, time frame to wait for food to be served is very short like 7mins, I went with a group of 13 folks with a RESERVATION on Wednesday at 13:00 hrs rush hour, the bar was already full, of course it will help if you know already what to order and do it once, prices are affordable as a quick option when you are looking for a nice place to go with friends definitely this is a good one and worth to try.

We moved from across the street a few years ago but stopped by on a Wednesday night while we were near. Guessing it had been close to a year since we were last in there. Before we could sit on the stool at the Bar our drinks were waiting on us! Trevor your memory is as remarkable as your service! Still better not put peanut shells on Cheryl's bar. May be the best cheese curds in Chicago. Always worth going. As the apartments in the area have increased this little bar has kept its local vibe. We can't wait to go back again.

This place has really good food and drinks! They have so many types of cocktails and beers that you’ll have a hard time deciding which one to get! Very good place to go and the decorations inside are very pretty! The service was outstanding!

We love Monk's!! We've been coming here for years and am so grateful they survived through the pandemic!! The selection of Belgian Beers and craft beers is INCREDIBLE!! And the menu and food served is also wonderful! The interior and atmosphere is cozy and the staff is super friendly and super knowledgeable. I'm telling you, if you love Belgian beers, Monk's is a MUST, you WILL NOT find a better bar anywhere close by that has such a fabulous Belgian beer selection. Tim was absolutely amazing yesterday on St.Patrick’s day. We never had to wait for a drink, he was very attentive to ALL of his tables, and super nice. It was very crowded and not once did he look like he was overwhelmed. You can tell he loves his job. He is by far the best server I’ve ever had!

Friendly, knowledgeable, and humble staff bent set on getting you the right beer. Fantastic Belgian selection on top of already stellar bottle and tap options. The food menu was on point too.

Don't know how we never knew about this place before! I guess it's kind of in a part of the city that we generally avoid (the Loop), but it turns out that area was hiding an awesome bar/pub! Fantastic beer list, especially for somebody who likes Belgians, and our server was a blast as well. Great vibes too, you feel transported to Europe!

The atmosphere is like most pub’s, woody rustic look and feel. I’m not a big beer drinker so I usually go with a hard cider but I enjoyed Delirium Red, it was nice and sweet. The turkey burger had a special mayo, provolone, and avocado. I was pleased THEN the pickle fries stole the show, I wanted another order.

Really cool lil pub. Lots of European beers plus plenty of American beers as well. I had the chicago poutine that was very good but very hot with the hot giardiniera peppers.

Decided to stay after a quick survey of the menu, and ended up very happy with our decision. Beer selection was good and the food was delicious. I had a layover with Amtrak and I couldn’t find anything open! I happened upon this pub and am so grateful. Outstanding service from the male server with lots of tattoos…he had like 10+ tables and didn’t break a sweat. Food was so good; I had the bison burger with a caesar salad and drank the house cab. Loved the ambiance and decor and service and food/drink was excellent.

Thank you for having a nitro oatmeal stout! Enjoyed that with some tots and barbecue sauce. The sauce was house made and delicious, and the tots were fresh from the fryer. Great atmosphere.

I feel like "pub" undersells the Monk's Pub. This place is great! The servers and bartenders are super on top of it for how busy of a place this is. The food is decent but the real winner is their extensive beer selection. If you like Belgian beers or any beer really, you can't go wrong here.

We found this place on accident and it was such a cool place. I liked every beer that we tried and Trevor, our bartender, was great.

Traditional beer list (by traditional think 1800’s), that has great depth. Food comes out quick and is as expected. Friendly service and cool feelings on the inside.
