A vibe of a restaurant. Dark, grungy, sophisticated like a classic whisky. The food was delicious and our server Anna Maria was impeccable. We ordered 2 appetizers: the burrata and the steak tare tar both were served with homemade sourdough bread that paired perfectly with the food. Then for the main course we got the burger and the French dip both were AMAZING. Flavorful, perfectly cooked and huge portions. The fries were ever so salty but still good! Then we topped it off with dessert, can’t wait to come back!

This place is stunning. It’s so beautiful inside, making it a perfect spot for drinks or dinner. We got a couple of things from their Happy Hour menu as well as the truffle pasta. Everything was good - from the food to the service. We’ll be back! If you’re curious about the HH specials, they have various food and drink options for $5 each! And on Wednesdays they have half-priced bottles.

Wow wow wow. Just amazing food, service and ambiance. The wait staff was very attentive clearing used plates and finished drinks. We got the truffle mozzarella sticks which were good. We ordered the ricotta sage gnocchi and the beef dip sandwich. The beef dip sandwich was absolutely amazing. I will definitely be coming back just to order this sandwich again and again. The side of fries were okay but not as jaw dropping as the sandwich. I can’t wait to try out more food here.

We had such a wonderful meal here. The service was flawless from start to finish (thank you Lilianna!), the food was really great - had the French dip and the sprouts, delicious! The space is really comfy and attractive too. Brilliant meal.

Super sexy restaurant. We ate downstairs at the Library. Beautiful atmosphere, felt very Chicago. The food was 50/50. My date’s ribeye steak was yummy but also VERY fatty. Asked for medium but it was a bit on the rare side. For a $60 steak, I expected more to be edible (so fatty). For my spicy rigatoni, the sauce was pretty good but the noodles were borderline too al dente and also pretty uneven. Some pieces were perfect and some were hard. (And I usually like my noodles al dente). The wine and bacon were good. We also got bread which was amazing. Sadly, I think the bread was the best thing I ate. Overall, I would come back for atmosphere alone and I would get neither of these dishes again. We did not try dessert. Maybe I’ll try again 1 more time when it’s not so busy… Edit: we took home the leftover fat to give our dog. The 2nd picture is the left end piece which is just a large hunk of fat.

This place had fantastic food and enough options for vegetarians. The food itself felt decadent. Everyone in my party were taken care of and food allergies or restrictions were considered very well. The entire vibe of the restaurant makes me think of a classy bar from a movie. There is a bar in the restaurant with a library feel to it too. The entire place was fantastic. Kudos to the chef, bartender, and waiters.

Had an amazing night here, all thanks to our extremely awesome host, Jostin! He’s super friendly and accommodating. We felt very taken care of. Happy hour is legit - single wood fired bone marrow was incredibly tasty. Food was decent, and a big shoutout for the champagne and toffee ice cream they treated us to for our celebration! Highly recommend if you’re into a dimly lit, cozy atmosphere, top-notch service, and fantastic food in Chicago. Also a perfect date spot for special occasions or spot go with friends. Definitely returning to try other offerings if I get the chance!

Starting with the hostess who had a bubbly personality we absolutely enjoyed our experience. Lights are very deem which created a very romantic evening, which also gave us the feeling of privacy from other guests. The server was great only went for drinks an explained to our waiter what I had previous to arrival an he was spot on with recommendations. Would recommend to anybody. Thanks for the pleasurable experience.

Gilt bar’s happy hour is the real deal. Definitely try and show up right around 4 as it gets packed quickly. We sat at the bar and had great service which was impressive for how busy the got. The $7 highball and teeny espresso martini paired great with the bone marrow, mussels, and fries. The fried chicken slider was a secret stunner and probably would’ve ordered a couple more if we hadn’t been so full. The cheeseburger slider and stuffed mushrooms were both good, but didn’t match up to the rest of the great options. (4.5/5)

I just want to pack my bags and move into this place, what a gorgeous setting. Who ever did the decor here needs an award. This is hands down my favorite restaurant now. Service was stellar!! Thanks to everyone who played there part in delivering such an unforgettable experience from the server to chefs. Food was beyond phenomenal! The Oaxacan Old Fashioned was mind blowing! Thank you!!

The takeaway: Really solid, upscale Chicago staple with great service serving shareable American fare with an Italian twist. Easy place to visit again. Sat outside on the patio and had a great evening. Decent wine list and very flavorful dishes. Housemade bread was on point, along with the Orechiette pasta, swordfish, and Brussel sprouts. For a decadent dessert, the chocolate cake was perfect alongside the salted caramel ice cream.

The ambiance is dark sexy & luscious ...I love the vibe. Food and drinks were surprisingly good. I highly recommend the mozzarella sticks 👌🏽 and vodka pasta👌🏽. My companion had the burger with housemade bacon and was delighted. Will be back soon!

We just recently moved out of Chicago and the saddest part was that we'll leave Gilt behind. We had one final meal and as always, it was spectacular. The Truffle Mozzarella Sticks were phenomenal. We've never had them before but man, crunchy, cheesy, and the sauce that came with them was a great compliment. The Truffle Pasta and Spicy Rigatoni also were just as great as they have always been. Perfectly cooked pastas, delicious sauces, just a perfect bite every time. If you still have never tried Gilt, make a reservation today. You'll love it.

One of the best happy hours in Chicago that give you the most bang for your buck. A great selection of drinks and bites for $5 and the mussels are TO DIE FOR (get extra bread to soak up that fab white wine sauce). It's not too loud and away from all the noise of the mag mile and not super busy like the west loop. A great place to have on the list!

This place is absolutely fantastic. I can't tell you how much this restaurant has ruined food from anywhere else for me. I can't describe how good the food is from here. I swear the cooks took cooking classes at Hogwarts because everything that comes out of the kitchen is pure magic. Their bartenders are top notch. Every drink is delicious and so well made. Their wait staff is amazing and extremely informative and personable. I love coming here. I drive almost 2 hours from my house to get some of the most amazing food I've ever had. I've lived in Chicago my whole life and this place is a gem. The atmosphere is perfect. The softly lit feel is perfect for a romantic night out or any night with your friends or significant other.

Me and my friend ran into this bar for a minute and fell in love from the first minute. The host was incredibly friendly. Even though that the bar was packed with people, the waiter was polite and brought our order very quickly. Amazing atmosphere. Great vibe.

Had a wonderful experience celebrating my husband's birthday. Staff was attentive, knowledgeable and helpful when making recommendations. Jacob at the library makes a killer cocktail 🍸. Our waiter was amazing and got my husband an extra pour of wine for his birthday. Be sure to make a reservation for the speakeasy downstairs.

Top notch service, ambiance, drinks, and food. We made reservations for a late weeknight dinner but it wasn't needed. Loved the steak tartare and the carrot cake. The pot pie comes baked around a marrow bone which was a huge plus in my book. The calamari was also excellent. I forgot what drinks we ordered but it was all delicious! Plus there's a cute photo booth downstairs where the bathrooms are.

Loved the drinks and aesthetic! Came here in October 2023 and we were mainly here for The Library Room but it was closed the night we went and could have been a one off. There was also a cute photo booth downstairs.

This place is great! Super busy right upon opening so definitely get reservations. The pasta is 10/10. Ricotta gnocchi and rigatoni vodka are so delicious. Espresso martinis during happy hour for sure. Daily happy hour til 530pm. Jacob at the bar is 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 The Library only gives you FIVE mins to claim your reservation so DONT put your phone away for even a moment. They called us in at 542pm but the library doesn’t open until 6 so I missed it because I didn’t check until 6.

My partner surprised me with a birthday dinner at Gilt Bar and it was incredible! We grabbed vesper martinis (which were excellent) at the bar while we waited on our table. Our server Jasmine was top notch. She made the night with great suggestions and warm/friendly service! We can't wait to come back! Don't sleep on the truffle mozzarella sticks, seriously!

Did someone say happy hour?! Stopped in for happy hour, which runs from opening until 5:30pm. We had a couple of Teeny Martinis, $6 each - both the espresso and the dirty martinis were lovely! We also had a glass each of the red and white house wines, also $6 each and served at the perfect temp! For snacking, we had the bone marrow, which was so yummy and paired with some lovely caramelized onion jam. To top it off, we got some complimentary prosecco in honor of my birthday. Service was top notch, and the vibe was dark and moody. Can’t wait to be back!

Would be going again and looking forward to the speak easy part to be open

What a pleasant experience! The atmosphere is phenomenal. The dimmed light is relaxing as well is appropriate for private dinner in a large dining room. The service was exceptional and prompt. The dinner was served timely and absolutely delicious. The cocktails we ordered were crafted to perfection. Overall - so happy and satisfied with our dinner experience and location. This is definitely a must visit restaurant.

Gorgeous spot for a cocktail! Elevated menu with lots of options. The food looked fabulous but we had just eaten dinner. Photo booth in the basement where you get 2 copies of your photos: 1 for yourself and 1 to put up on the wall! The hostess was the real star of the restaurant (forget her name but she was awesome) and the decor was so chic! PICTURED: Tequila Sour

Recently celebrated a birthday here and what a place to do so! All the food and drinks were good, and the service was spectacular. I highly recommend the bone marrow. They also have a photo booth downstairs that’s worth visiting. Prints out two copies: one to keep for memories, and the other to stick somewhere on the walls.

All the food is tasty ! Everything had so much flavor. Came here at 5pm to catch the last half hour of their Happy Hour . Got our first cocktails and our apps from the popular Happy Hour menu. A Gin and Tonic and Old Fashioned drink were quite large for HH . Pleasant surprise. HH mussels come with garlic bread for dipping in the spicy sauce but I also asked for bread and butter on the side. Not sure if this is usually brought out but I asked for it and got some great grilled bread with butter. Get some. 2nd round of drinks was awesome! Try the Hemingway Daiquiri, that was delicious and had a cherry in the bottom of the glass. The Gold Rush is good bourbon drink too . Mains was pasta and it's done slightly al dente.I got Vodka Rigatoni with an amazing sauce and my friend got Truffle Bucatini which was rich . Dessert is decadent ! That Chocolate Cream Pie is more like a dense mousse but so good. Our server Dan was so nice. All the staff are cool . Probably best meal in Chicago so far . Definitely check this place out. In River North near La Salle

Highly recommend… in fact I did recommend to a friend and she and her daughter loved it too. We were upstairs but would love to go back to try out the speakeasy vibe! Meatballs app was delicious as was the Chicken piccata ( no side with the chicken so order accordingly). My fiance had the burger and outstanding! Drinks were great and very friendly service.

The food was good. They have a cool corridor with photos on it that leads to the bathroom. However, the photo machine wasn't in service when I visited. The decor/atmosphere is a moody masculine vibe.

So, so good. Loved the moody dark ambience. Server was amazing. Truffle pasta was one of my favorite meals I’ve had in Chicago. Burrata app was so so good as well. We’ll be back!!

I would give 6 stars if I could. The menu is very similar menu to Bavette’s, but the drinks and cocktails really excel at Gilt. The food is delicious, you can’t go wrong with anything. Try the steak tartare and the French Dip! Also every day from 4:00 to 5:30 there’s a happy hour that includes drinks and appetizers for $7! Hands down one of my favorite spots in Chicago.

Ann-Marie is an amazing asset! So knowledgeable on drinks and food and the friendliest server I've had all year. Definitely ask to be in her section! Ricotta gnocchi and espresso martinis.are delicious also!

Dimly lit vibes and scrumptious cocktails! Get the extra dirty martini and wagyu burger (with fries) - both were excellent. My espresso martini was also tasty. Service, atmosphere, drinks, and food were all top notch at Gilt Bar.

Beautiful ambience and fun staff. Happy hour is a crazy good deal on Wednesdays with 1/2 off wine bottles. The sliders were tasty though nothing memorable. Would love to come back and try out a full dinner with cocktails sometime.

So cozy and romantic! The perfect spot. The food was beyond delicious. The drinks were amazing! We can't wait to come back on our next visit.

Fun Fun place for alcohol forward cocktails and aps. Make it for Happy Hour for a decent value. We enjoyed some wine, Tequila Sours, and some Bourbon Old Fashions. Try their thick cut bacon and fries just to be way decadent. Great service! Great libations!

We were a group of 4 who dined at Gilt Bar on a Saturday evening. We saw that they had a vegetarian menu on Google reviews photos and went there. However , they don’t have that anymore. But, they were happy to prepare a vegetarian pasta in addition to the truffle bucatini that was on the menu. Both pastas were well made and decent portion sizes too. The truffle pasta is especially worth mentioning because the flavor of the truffle really came through and the pasta was top-notch. The flavor of truffle can be very polarizing, it’s either love or hate and for this reason most restaurants don’t go bold with truffle. But I was super happy that this place got it just right. Other than that, we had the corn bread and the burrata for appetizers, both were great. They chocolate martini is also worth mentioning, it was perfect ! Ambience is upscale, albeit it could be brighter I suppose, it was a tad too dark for my liking. Bottomline: Wouldn't recommend vegetarians to go there, very small number of vegetarian dishes. But if you do end up there like us, you can be assured that you will be taken care of very well. Definitely not a place for vegans.

I would give it more if I could. I love this place. It checks all of the boxes. The service both times with two different servers was stellar. They did an excellent job at anticipating the needs of our table. The decor was thoughtful with oversized and comfortable chairs, the perfect amount of dim lighting, and killer music, but the overall noise still allowed for conversation. I also found the price to be of value for this type of dining experience. Can't wait to come back and do it again. Keep up the great work Gilt Bar staff!

Impeccable service, heavenly food and trendy atmosphere. Everything about this experience was top notch and we are already talking about the next time we come. Jacob took care of us and he truly did take great care of us with drink recommendations, food recommendations and always keeping our water topped off. Now on to the most delicious food, we probably tried half the menu and every bit was more delicious than the last… the steak tartar is a must, the bone marrow was flavorful and spread on thick homemade bread. The truffle mozzarella sticks had a crispy light breading with a heavy truffle flavor and melty mozzarella inside. Then dinner included waygu burgers, French dip and the truffle pasta, all of it danced on my tongue. I almost forgot the smoked salmon Caesar salad - very light smoky flavor which brought this salad to the top of the salad pyramid. Lastly, the chocolate pie thing (can’t remember the name) was rich and smooth and decadent, a mix of truffle and mousse for texture. Weird suggestion, smell the chocolate before you taste it. It could be a perfume! Oh and end your feast with a French press it pairs perfectly with dessert. Next trip we will get the carrot cake!! Thanks Jacob for treating us so well and thank the chefs for spoiling my tastebuds (they will never be the same)!!

Absolutely fantastic experience! The food was delicious (with generous portions for the quality), service was perfect and dessert seriously blew me away. Definitely more on the upscale end and will end up being 80-100 with drinks easily. I would 100% go back and try something else that I missed like the bone marrow. 10/10

This place is a Chicago Gem. Food and drinks are always delicious. Special shoutout to our server Briana for plugging all the delicious bites on the menu. Definitely recommend the below: - Spicy Vodka Rigatoni - Thick cut bacon - Burrata

Great place for a night out on the town. Stopped by without a reservation on Saturday night and got seated in less than 15 minutes and the place was full! All the employees were nice and welcoming. The bartenders really know what they are doing because our drinks were great! Had the Oaxacan old fashioned and the Hemingway Daiquiri. Our food was also delicious as well. We ordered the truffle mozzarella sticks, burger w/ thick bacon, truffle bucatini, and the skillet cookie. It was all great and can't go wrong with any of those options but the star of the show was definitely the truffle bucatini. Overall would recommend this place and definitely will be visiting again.

Gilt probably has the best happy hour in the city. It's what got me in and the environment, good food, and friendly service is what keeps me there into the night. The ambiance is great and perfect for a date or catching up over drinks. Highly recommend the Mussels, the sauce is superb.

  • 5/5 Lorne H. 2 years ago on Google
Wow, this place was amazing. We waited a bit for a table but were able to hang out with the awesome bartenders in the meantime. When we ate, the food was perfect. Woudk definitely recommend the steak tartar, bone marrow, French dip, and any pasta. 10/10

Our server Eleni was wonderful! She was so kind and attentive. The food was absolutely amazing, the bone marrow appetizer was to die for so much flavor, the wood fire chicken was so tender and the bbq sauce was glazed perfectly! The drinks were also delicious the French martini is a must have.
