Came here twice (first time was to try their steak and this time is to try their happy hour menu). I highly recommend their happy hour (Monday-Friday 4pm-6pm). I’m so impressed with the quality of the $1 oysters, $14 lobster rolls, and $8 espresso martini. Finally found a great place for my oyster cravings in Chicago.

Visited for the first time this November for our anniversary and we were very content with our dinner. Our waitress was amazing, she was very nice and gave great recommendations. We sat in a booth towards the front of the restaurant. They are very cozy and intimate which we liked. The oysters were pretty good, the bread was amazing, the steak was also a 9/10 and the mashed potatoes were great! We also had a slice of the chocolate cake which didn’t disappoint & requested some ice cream with it which was also a perfect match.

lets start off by saying the lobster mac and cheese is hands down one of the most delicious things i’ve had. (it’s not in the menu so be sure to ask for it) the steak was great and the experience was very nice especially when they make the mac and cheese table side. the cigar lounge is not as advertised, i thought you would be able to enjoy a smoke while eating but it’s off to the back and only after you’ve eaten can you go. (that didn’t stop me from ordering one to enjoy after!) cigar selection is not too bad either mostly premium sticks.

Absolutely love the environment and decor at this amazing restaurant! From the music to the dry aged bone in ribeye, this is an exceptional restaurant experience!!! Jose was our server and host and didn't disappoint. Love this place and we will be back often.

This was my first time visiting Prime & Provisions. I immediately noticed the “and” symbol is used as decor throughout the restaurant which is pretty cool. It reminded me of a popular steakhouse in Shanghai because they also have this concept of using the and symbol. Although the lighting in the restaurant was dim, I was expecting the dining room to be a bit more colorful based off of the pictures I had seen on OpenTable. I guess during the editing of the photos, they just turned up the saturation a bit to make it seem more colorful. Ehh, minor disappointment but these are the things that I look for when fine dining. Anyway, dinner was good. I ordered the New England Clam Chowder, the lamb chops, the salmon, and the S’mores dessert. The chowder was good. I was very disappointed with the lamb though. I am very familiar with the charbroiling cooking technique, however all I tasted was char. I literally could not taste the lamb. I rarely complain about my food but I had to send it back. I ordered the salmon instead. I guess the Miso Glazed Salmon is quite popular throughout steakhouses in Chicago because this is the third restaurant I’ve been to that has the exact same salmon dish. I love salmon but I kind of wish I would’ve tried a different fish. The S’mores dessert was great! The server sent it out with a sparkler to make it more festive, which I enjoyed. The dessert was in a chocolate sphere and the server poured a hot caramel sauce over the top of it for it to melt into what was inside. I loved the layers of ice cream, chocolate, caramel, and graham cracker, Heath bar crunch. So yummy. I ordered two cocktails, Peach Spritz and Prime Southside. Both were decent. All in all, I enjoyed my visit to Prime & Provisions. Christian (our server) was accommodating and helpful with suggestions.

I love this place. There is some char to the meat but it's nice and juicy. After all courses are considered it's worth the money. I'm not crazy about the pasta shape for the mac n cheese. The desserts and the bacon are a must. I love the banana creame pie. Whisky sour was perfectly sweet. Our waiter was great. I don't recall waiting a long time to be served. You do have to make a reservation in advance for a nice seat.

We really enjoyed our experience here. Great service and fare. The ambiance is really cool too — like many buildings in Chicago, it has a cool Prohibition era vibe. The West Coast oysters, lamb chops and the KC Strip (served on a searing 500-degree plate) were fantastic, and the charred corn, green beans and lobster mac sides were great as well. Be warned that it’s pricey; we dropped around $540 on a three course meal, a bottle of wine and a couple drinks.

dress code enforced, they didn’t let someone in our group in because he was wearing sweatpants. one of the best paloma’s & old fashioneds ive had. dessert is a must. lèche cake & peanut butter chocolate dessert were amazing. service was a bit strange in that i think there was some miscommunication. for example, we said we were ready to order dessert and the waiter just walked away and brought us the check. then we had to ask to order dessert again. also we ordered brussel sprouts and we never got it. overall the food was great and it wasn’t too loud. came for a work dinner and it was a great experience.

Excellent location next to the river for a steak celebration dinner. Beef is halal and you can confirm by phone or with your server. Restaurant week deals were a great value. Caution: Steak temperatures are cooked to French standards but they're happy to cook it some more for you. Staff is very service oriented and gives great recommendations. Sides are nice. Bread was yum too. The dessert was great too. They do birthday candles!

We had dinner on a Thursday evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Location is very modern and has a great location, very close to the River Walk and Wacker Drive. We had oysters to start (very fresh!), wedge salads, I ordered the pork chop and my husband got the dry aged New York. Recently I had surgery on my shoulder and my arm was in a sling. Seeing this, one of the servers offered to have my salad cut up and even inquired if I would need help with my entree, wow! The pork chop was the most tender and flavorful I’ve ever had. My husband really enjoyed his steak as well. Top notch service, delicious and decadent food, care about our experience, and a lovely dessert for our anniversary made this our best dining experience during our Chicago trip. Can’t recommend them enough, don’t hesitate to book your table!!!

Better than expected. Kyle was our server and was very attentive, knowledgeable, not pushy, a real pro. The entire staff was always right there when we needed then, but again not trying to take plates too soon, or over helping. It was really just perfect. The food was just amazing. What an amazing meal for all. With all of the great steakhouse spots in Chicago, the competition is fierce, but they definitely deserve your attention.

This used to be on my top list for steakhouses in the city but after visiting this past weekend it fell off. My server was never around. We were fasting and it took him 15 minutes to come back after he greeted us. Then another 15 after he took our drink orders. It seemed like his whole section of customers were just as confused. Not sure if he was drunk or high but something was going on I could tell. Service fell to 1 star As for food it was bland. Not too much seasoning and my mom got the $70 lamb chops that were not well rested before being served. My chicken was not hot it was room temperature. We were starving from fasting so of course no complaints. It’s sad because maybe the steaks are the only good things. I had the French onion soup and that was probably the best thing. The beet salad was also good. 2 stars. Towards the end the manager came around (she had some sort of accent) and asked if everything was ok. I said it was fine and asked her if they are having difficulties keeping up with maybe very little staff due to COVID and she said not really what’s wrong? And I said well our server just has not been very attentive to us. She apologized and moved on. I’ve been to prime numerous of times and even celebrated my birthday in December of 2020 outside in the tent in the cold. And service was amazing. The food was excellent. But now? I’m not sure what happened. After spending $300 you think it would be worth it. Definitely make your way to Maple & Ash or Bavettes bar down the street for the best of the best.

The ambiance of the restaurant is sexy and classy. The details on the decor are hard to miss. We started with the house flared thick cut bacon. It's bacon with chocolate at the bottom. They bring it out and catch it on fire at the table. The Caesar salad was great. He got the princess wagyu and he loved it! I got the 16oz New York strip, with the whipped potatoes. We ordered the lobster tail Mac and cheese. They bring out the lobster tail and cut it in front of you then mix it in the Mac and cheese. It was delicious! The service was amazing! Our waiter was Kyle, he didn't miss a beat. They do have Coke products, and don't have draft beer. Their restroom is upstairs.

Amazing experience and well worth the price tag for the meal along with the service. The sides were a bit small but the steaks cooked to perfection. Definitely get the old fashioned as it truly is one of the best in the city!!

We could not have asked for better experience!! My husband and I took my cousin and her husband here for her Birthday Dinner and all of us RAVED ABOUT THIS PLACE! We were all visiting from out of town and wanted a great steakhouse and so glad we opted to dine here. The ambiance is so modern and sexy. Our server was absolutely hilarious, and so accommodating! The whole staff was just great and welcoming. Then we got our food…EVERY BITE WAS DIVINE! We all got the Ribeye, bone in, Brussels sprouts, Mac and cheese, broccoli and creamed corn. We are definitely picky eaters, as in wanting our food to be seasoned well and we were all so happy. Then we got a lovely assortment of birthday desserts and by then we needed to be carried out of there . We are SO THANKFUL for such a memorable experience. Thank you so much this amazing staff for EXCEEDING our expectations!

Let me start out by saying I had very high expectations for this restaurant when We visited 12/10/23... To say the least, that did not happen. Our server was very dismissive, was not attentive and when she did come back to see how things were, it wasn't genuine and she knew this was our 1st time visiting as that was her 1st question: "have you dined with us before" to which we advised No! The food for the price was very mediocre, there was a T bone steak my Fiance selected which was $87 - no problem, he felt that it was small for the price and opted to upgrade to a bigger steak which would've been $147. He was told not only would he need to keep the steak for $87 and pay for it, he would be charged for the new steak he wanted to upgrade to as well. We never requested a supervisor to come over: when we inquired about the steak upgrade, our server immediately said "let me get the supervisor", she didn't want to have anything to do with us, wanted no conversation as we'd questioned a few other things as well. 'It was like': you want to inquire/appear to complain with me, I'm going to go get the supervisor. It was my fiance's 52nd birthday - which they were aware of. He/we did not feel welcomed or special at all. Lastly, with an almost $400 tab, my expectations were very high. I was very disappointed and won't visit there again or recommend them.

    # Famous Steakhouse in Chicago I went there last week with 16 friends. We had two tables each 8 people. They're food good but noisy because tables were so close and music volume was laoud. Their birthday one piece of cake and fire light was so special plate. # Clam Chowder # Hand-cut Filet Mignon 10oz # Broiled Wild Salmon # Fried Chicken # Macaroni Cheese

We had a good experience. We went at night and the ambience was a cool dimly lit space. Service was a little slow at first but eventually picked up. We got a couple of steaks, rib eye, a burger and they all tasted pretty good. We had sweet white wine (moscato d'asti) as well which was honestly one of the best wines I've had in a while. Dessert was nice, the creme brulee I had was great. The staff were pleasant and efficient at their jobs. Would visit again.

Attended the Mother's Day grand brunch buffet. Everything was tasty, fresh and plentiful. The seafood was always well stocked and replenished. The dessert ferris wheel and bar had many tasty options. I've never been a fan of oysters but the oysters here were outstanding. I actually asked about them and was told they're from Virginia and are also offered during their happy hour. Will have to return for that! There were two floors of seating and each floor had its own spread so it helped with the flow of circulation. One of our servers, Chris, shared some fun facts about the restaurant being housed in the Builder's Building, a 1920s inspirational location for new skyscraper construction. Very cool! Some people commented about valet being offered - it was but just busy on this busy day. A great experience from start to finish.

Definitely one of the best steaks I've ever had. Actually, the only reason I came to Chicago was to eat a steak. So I drove all the way from San Francisco and made Chicago a stop. My wife and I ordered the ribeye and three sides. She had a wine and I had a scotch. Finished off with dessert and hot is hot drinks. The music was good and the atmosphere was perfect Chicago. Our server was really pleasant but I think the restaurant is understaffed because he was not always present. The restaurant definitely missed on a few details which would certainly make it stand out even better. Our ribeye which was supposed to be medium was very rare. For dessert my wife requested English breakfast tea but. Earl Grey. Then there was a small mistake on our bill. Overall, it was a fantastic evening. Our reservation went well. The staff is super friendly and pleasant. It's just the small details.

Great location. Valet parking is easy and service is good. The restaurant was a little too noisy and it was hard to hear others at the table talking. Otherwise the setting is very nice. Fresh ingredients. Wagyu is so good and perfectly prepared. No organic options that I have seen here, but the meat is excellent.

3.5 stars. While the food was good, the service was definitely lacking. We sat for about 15/20 mins before our server took our drink order. I definitely prefer not to be rushed but this was extremely slow at times. I watched another table hunt their server down in order to pay. Aside from that and how very loud it got at times, we very much enjoyed the food, particularly dessert!

Exceptional service and food. The steak is the best that I have ever eaten!! They are so flavorful on their own without any additional add on and the corn was absolutely yummy. Highly recommend the bread service and beet salad too! Thank you for a lovely birthday meal.

The food, staff and restaurant were very good. I thought it was very pricey for what we got, but then again, it's downtown Chicago. And really appreciate the military discount. We would return for another special event. Thank yinz guys for a memorable evening! And thanks to our son and daughter (in law) for this special treat.

(8/23/23 visit) Had the lamb chops + mac n cheese. Both were amazing. The lamb chops were very flavorful and tender. The mac n cheese was just the right amount of cheese. The service was great. Never felt neglected. The waiter checked on our table often enough to make us feel tended to. The low lights and music background created an amazing ambiance.

I had my 40th birthday dinner at Prime & Provision. Very lovely restaurant. I had 17 friends and family and were accompanied quite well, with proper reservation of course. The food is amazing and the atmosphere was wonderful.

The entire staff from the host to our server, Mike, were phenomenal. The food was excellent and the Oysters and Old Fashion were the best we’ve had. Amazing service and experience. I look forward to coming back when I visit the city.

I recently had an amazing three-course lunch at Prime & Provisions Steakhouse, and it was absolutely incredible! The outdoor seating was perfect for people-watching, and the service was top-notch. The Clam Chowder was so creamy and delicious, and the Caesar Salad with Filet Medallions was a mouthwatering combination. And let's not forget about the heavenly Chocolate Cake that ended the meal on a sweet note. Prime & Provisions Steakhouse definitely left a lasting impression, and I can't wait to go back!

We went for Christmas eve and they only serve tasting menu. But all the courses are tasty and satisfying! From the appetizer to the dessert, everything is flavorful! I had my best crab cake here!

  • 1/5 Kairene P. 1 year ago on Google
Cigar patio not there as advertised. Bad service (AARON) and food wasn't that great. Tried salmon but Flavor wasn't for me. When I returned it to kitchen and ordered something else seems like server had attitude. I dined alone so maybe my small tab wasn't worth hid time. Ordered the crab cake and baked potato to replace which was decent. Old fashion was solid. Bacon app was just ok. Cigars on dessert menu was premium selection but what is the point if you can't smoke them.

This is my first time at this restaurant and I am having an amazing experience. It’s classy, chic and sexy. Everyone is personable and professional. They made me feel like I am home. The bourbon is exceptional. The provisional salad is exceptional. The salmon is exceptional. The s’mores dessert is exceptional. This was an overall 10 star experience and I can’t wait to come back. Thank you Zack and Roberto.

One of the best birthday dinners! The restaurant gives you a 1950/60's style with the wide high back booths to lookout in front of you of the other customers and to see the city. The oysters were to die for! The sides are shareable because of their large portion size. The steak was cooked just the way I wanted it! Everything was well seasoned! I will be back the next time I'm in the Windy City!

Fabulous pre-anniversary celeb!! Food was wonderful 👍! I upgraded my meal to a New York strip. FAB!!!Great wait-staff, Matt took excellent care OF us. The manager, Zac, came by to introduce himself & offer congrats to us with a treat!! What a guy!! Lots of people out.CHICAGO is more than ready to enjoy the restaurant scene & it showed. If a table emptied out, wasn't long before it was filled. Even during Restaurant Week, our bill was pricey!! But we can't wait to return, just have a Brinks truck attached!!! Lol!!

I took my husband here for his birthday and I do not regret it! The location is fantastic and it gives you an excellent view of the city. The restaurant itself is pretty spacious and has both indoor and outdoor seating. The ambience yes cozy yet lively. I did reserve quite a bit of time prior, and I had asked for a window seat so that we could enjoy the view but we were seated at the other end of the restaurant. We didn’t mind and we didn’t want to ruin the system so we just sat where we were placed. Once we were seated it did take a while for a waiter to finally come to our table, but once they did everything went up hill from there. Our waiter was very patient and carefully answered all of our questions. He made terrific recommendations. We started off with the clam chowder which was by far the best clam chowder I have ever had. The waiter also brought out some bread which I personally didn’t like, it was basically just the outer crust of bread with a hollow inside. The main attraction: the steak. We ordered the dry aged ribeye and once I added the extra seasoning that came in the most adorable goblet, it was absolutely perfect! The macaroni and cheese is also the best I’ve had at the steakhouse. They also bought out a cake with a really cool sparkler on it for my husband! Our waiter also asked me if I’d like any pictures and once I gave him my camera he gave us ALL the angles haha it was awesome! This place is definitely on my top three list of steakhouse in Chicago, I highly recommend you stop by and taste for yourself!

Prime & Provisions, is a special place. Everyone down to the valet were extremely pleasant. The service was the best part we had the absolute pleasure of being hosted here. I had the 4 course meal.(pictures below). The food was mediocre, I wasnt very impressed. The vibe in this place is amazing though. It made up for the food. The carrot cake was a really dang good piece of cake! The drinks were amazing too. Overall, if you are seeking to have a great time in a beautiful place, with good drinks highly recommended!

Everything was great and we didn't even mind the automatic 18% gratuity to all bills. It was amongst the best dining experiences post covid. Our Server Anthony was phenomenal. Will be back. Oh, the bacon appetizer was AMAZING!!!!

I came to prime & provisions alone and had a wonderful dinner. The atmosphere is lovely and the service was wonderful. Only gave it 4/5 because the second time I tried to make a reservation I was given a hassle and told that I couldn’t dine in an hour before closing time??? Not sure if I’d return because of that. But other than that I had a nice dinner the one time I went.

It’s a really nice place, I don’t think the waitress took us seriously that day. We were almost over charged, good think we looked at the bill when it arrived. The food tasted great. I’ll definitely go back.

My husband and I visited Prime and Provisions for our 1st anniversary dinner and had a lovely time. Service (including valet) was professional and food was high quality. We ordered the Kobe NY Strip, Lobster Mac and Cheese, Creamed Spinach and Mashed Potatoes. Presentation was great, flavors were unique. My steak had a few chunks of fat in it which made it a bit wasteful but nonetheless it was delicious.
