Always celebrate here. I spent so much more money in this restaurant because the food is way better than others. Ramens don’t taste good, but sushi, and all the appetizer and tempura are really going to satisfy your cravings. Services aren’t good here. Waiters and waitresses will clean your table as soon as you finish your food unless you spend more than 100 bucks.

Fantastic place and really good food! Was there specifically for sushi but got to try japanese curry rice as well. Large selection of choices including appetizers, entrees and drinks. Quick service with friendly servers. Def def recommend! Our favorite sushi: umai crunch, chicago.

Umami caught the attention of a friend and myself while driving by. We stopped in for dinner and we’re not disappointed. There was a large menu with a wide variety of options. I got a noodle bowl and my friend got the sushi. The noodle bowl was great and the sushi was some of the best we had ever tasted. The atmosphere of the restaurant felt very cool. It was definitely memorable. There were many windows facing the streets to allow in the light from outside. It’s worth a stop by if you are looking for authentic Japanese food.

The sushi was great and very well presented. Everything was also fairly priced. Between four people, we spent under $150. They do not take reservations, so be prepared to wait during peak hours.

Drinks were unique, not really my taste, but interesting none the less. The beef wrapped asparagus was pretty good. The rolls were good. Inventive take on a Salmon skin salad, not what I was expecting, but very good. The dessert took the show with the Green Tea Creme Brulee taking the top spot.

We had lunch here today and it was excellent! For sushi, I had 1/2 surf and turf, 1/2 a Chicago and a Philadelphia roll. The fish was super fresh. The surf and turf was an incredible mix of flavors. I wasn’t sure about apple in my sushi. But I was wrong - it was delicious! My daughters each got some chicken teriyaki- the sauce was so flavorful and it was a really big portion (and came with soup and salad too!) Service was excellent.

My teen son started to be interested about Japan, so i decided to bring him here to introduce japanese food. For my taste there is nothing special, just like any other asian food restuarant. Service was quick. We ordered dine in and to go. Dine in included winter ramen and spicy roasted garlic ramen. Both were good and big portions. Also gyoza, they brought 5 pieces instead of 6 as in menu. I recommend black sesane seed icecream. For take out we had beef rolls with asparagus, pork shoulder BBQ (was very good) and Katsudon which comes with soup and salad. Porsion was good too.

Everything was lovely. The service was great and the food was delicious. I only wish we would have had more time to be able try more things. We were under time restrictions and we were grateful that everything was super fast.

Was recommended by a friend to get Japanese food here and was not disappointed. Ramen portion is generous, Goosebump maki was a miss for me but that's my palate speaking, if I wanted to nitpick the rice could be a little better. All that said I'll come back again

Great service, nice atmosphere, great food! Stopped by for an early lunch on a Saturday. They have an extensive menu so I feel that there's definitely something for everyone here. I was impressed by the quality of the fish that they served. I ordered a Chirashi bowl which came with a side of miso soup. I was surprised by the variety of fish that was provided. The sashimi all tasted fresh and had good textures. My friend ordered a roll and two orders of Nigiri and she also enjoyed her lunch. I've tried to come here a few times before, mostly for dinner, and it's been packed so I chose to go somewhere else. I think I understand the hype -- I will definitely be returning to have more sushi or to try the other offerings they have from their extensive menu.

Really great sushi and atmosphere. Some different flavors and twists on common rolls. They were packed so the service had some rough spots - didn’t give us appetizer plates and only gave us one fork and knife for an appetizer. Food took a little long from the kitchen but overall the vibe was nice and the experience was still really good. We even got another role to try after eating what we ordered because everything looked so good and it was worth it. Would go back for sure.

I’ve been to Umai a couple of times and I will keep going back for the Katsu Kare! It’s so flavorful and the quantity is so much, and I (and my friends) can’t have enough of it. We’ve also gotten various sushi rolls, like Spider, White Truffle Tail, etc. and they’re pretty good too. There’s usually a little bit (~30 mins) wait usually if you go in the evening but definitely worth it!

Pretty chill atmosphere. Food looks good, tastes good and you feel good after! We were so impressed that we decided to dine here four times in the same week!

This place was so good that we came back the second time within a week. I love their nabeyaki udon the most. I haven’t been able to find a good udon place until Umai. The atmosphere is casual and the service is phenomenal. We always get seated quickly and the sushi are very fresh as well. Highly recommend Umai to everyone and we will definitely be back again soon.

The food was delicious. The sushi rolls were big and the portion sizes were good. There was 3 of us and we couldn't finish 2 rolls and 2 bowls of Ramen! It was great.

One of my favorite local places to go to. Excellent atmosphere and service with an amazing and fresh menu. Great place to pop in for a quick bite or have a night out with friends and family.

I keep coming back to this place because it's such a solid Japanese restaurant. Great quality sushi and great quality Noodles. Haven't tried their rice dish yet but I'm looking forward to coming back to try it. Their Udon and Ramen are great for a cold night. If you want to split the ramen bowl portion in half to consume some sushi as well, they'll do that for you in these neat little bowls. A great recommendation for anyone that wants to share bowl of ramen with a date while being able to try the other food on the menu!

Love this place!! The Winter Ramen is my all time favorite bowl of ramen EVER!! Slices of beef, ground pork, a poached egg and the broth is loaded with flavor with just enough kick to feel, but not to slow you down from eating. I can only wish it was offered year around

The ramens look pretty but not really authentic… the tsukemen soup taste sour, and the winter ramen taste wired. Good vibe and sometimes too loud at night! Not authentic Japanese food

Excellent ramen. Great lollipop chicken. Decent sushi. Grilled eggplant sauce was a bit overly sweet. I would return.

Ordered Spicy Garlic Ramen which was pretty good. Umai offers good service and presents a calm environment. Would try it again!

Everything was absolutely delicious. The Tsukemen ramen was outstanding - very flavorful broth and the pork belly, bamboo shoots and egg noodles were the perfect combination.

Small, cozy restaurant with a large menu of sushi, ramen, and udon, as well as fun cocktails. The service was good and quick, and the food was fabulous. They don’t take reservations except for large groups and at 5:30pm on a Saturday there was a 20 minute wait, but they call you when your table is ready.

Absolutely delicious Japanese food with good vibes and fast service. We came impromptu on a very busy night and managed to get seating in 20 minutes. The outdoor patio was beautiful at night. The Naked roll was one of the best rolls I’ve had, and squid nigiri was excellent. Beef tongue bbq skewer was melt in your mouth.
