Feb 2022 I had philly steak sandwich. Vgood. One of the best I ever have tasted. The cashier recommended the Chile's estrllados (grilled jalapenos] with a sprinkle of lemon and a dash of salt, they were fantastic. Jul 2022 hit links n pulled pork, delicious! Nov 2023 I tried the chikin gyro salad and barley soup... fantastic tastes

We were headed south when we saw the billboard, hopped off the interstate and came back around. Stopped for the beef ribs, got a full rack. That's some good stuff right there! Asked them to recommend the sandwich that best showcased their meat, and ended up with a Brisket Sammy. I'm sold. Great food all around. Try the baklava!

Ribs are ok but hit or miss on how fresh they are. I've had the combo beef and Sauage sandwich also, and it's a good sandwich but is overpowered by the garlic bread, which is a soft roll, not a traditional bread to use, so I recommend you get it dry and not dipped because the bread is too weak and falls apart and makes a mess when trying to eat and is very sloppy.

This place is amazing. This is the best barbecue place I found so far with their food is so delicious. Every time I go there it's kind of hard to decide what I want to eat. So I get a little bit of everything. The quality of food and the portions are amazing. You get what you pay for and everything is made fresh. I highly recommend every single person to come check this place out and you will not be disappointed. You will be mind blown on how amazing the food is and the staff is very friendly and informative. They make you feel like family

The best ribs I have tasted! They are tender, juicy, and the smoke flavor is perfect! If you're going to cheat on your diet, this is the place to go! The beer is nice and cold but I would pass on the margaritas unless you like them extra sweet. Garlic bread, fries and coleslaw are all tasty and fresh. Highly recommend. This place is so good my husband and I drove around for 35 minutes trying to find it. We had been there before and couldn't exactly remember where it was or the name. Well worth it!

A simple dinner on the road turned into a amazing experience and made my day. The beef rips were tender and juicy and just felt apart. You cant definitely go wrong with this. The onions rings were very favorable. Order were served quick. Wish guys good luck next year and keep doing business - we all need good food 🙂👌

Highly recommend. I moved to IL from the home of BBQ, Texas, two years ago. In Texas, we BBQ beef ribs. For whatever reason it is impossible to find BBQ beef ribs cooked low and slow in this part of the country. Until now. When I found this place I immediately came. Did not disappoint. Thank you, Gemato’s for doing the Lord’s work. Incredible stuff.

Visiting from Minnesota. We wanted BBQ and smelled the wood smoke driving bye. THOSE RIBS ARE AMAZING! They had a little bit of char, meat melted right off the bone, sauce was very good. My picky kid had chicken tenders he loves em. They were real non filler chicken like I've seen some kids menus have. Thanks for the memorable meal.

What the hell did We pay $62 for? My wife and I ordered via door dash Pulled pork sandwich ($14.51) a beef brisket sandwich (16.49) and the appetizer combo ($11.87). I understand taxes and the fees for DoorDash. The pulled pork had no Smokey flavor and was masked by the attempt of a BBQ sauce that was slapped on the top of a soggy French roll. The Brisket was so dry that it could have been passed for jerky on a soggy French roll as well. When you’re charging upwards towards $20 for a sandwich why wouldn’t you give fries? The 2 oz cup of bland coleslaw could have stayed at the restaurant. The appetizer combo was a sad sight with 2 mozzarella cheese sticks, 6 mushrooms and 4 onion rings. $12 for this! If you’re going to charge a premium for your food please make sure the quality reflects the value. Thank god I had some pickles in my fridge to enhance the taste of this disaster of a dinner. I will spend my money elsewhere and make sure everyone I know steers clear of here.

They said the Monday and Tuesday's special was $20 for full slab ribs but I end up paying $26 for the special. Because they added in macaroni and cheese They told me you get 2 sides And the guy told me the sides and I said. Okay, give me French fries and macaroni and cheese. But I end up paying $26. Two dollars and forty dollars for the mac and cheese Only wanted to spend $20 plus tax. The ribs were good.

Best bbq I’ve had by a long shot. Your dollar goes a long way. Even bought a couple bottles of the bbq sauce to take home. I had the pulled pork platter with a loaded baked potato and coleslaw and a vodka lemonade. So good!! Definitely recommend this place!

10/10 - MUST VISIT - This place has incredible food at incredible prices. The helpings are also massive - so much we all had to get a box to go. Absolutely worth coming here!

This place is a must try if you are in the area, their BBQ is amazing and at a good price aren't like many I tried. I had the brisket & hot links combo that came with a delicious soup and 2 other sides "garlic bread and French fries"... brisket was nice and tender the hotlinks had a delicious kick and I can't forget about the crunchy fried pickles 😋... Come try them

After eating here on June 12th there was a tad bit of dislike with my ribs. I returned today June 21st and I must say I have a totally different review and I must post . I had ribs again and baked beans and baked potato. The ribs were Awesome . Moral of this review is " everyone has a bad day even myself. Thanks Jose! I'll be back for sure. Great customer service from yourself and the other guy I encountered while there . Have a great day

I had the ribs,baked potato,baked beans and coleslaw. I have 2 say they make the best food on the south side. Everything was very good and cooked 2 perfection.

Awsome food it is really good. I had a Bacon cheese burger the bacon fell out a bit but it was still love the bacon. It was grilled just right. Service is great but it is not easy to get the trays. The atmosphere is great just the right amount of tables for it not to get to loud.

So I had pass the place before and today I decided to stop cause it smells so good. I ordered the Chicken and Rib Tips combo and when I get home it was good not great because they boil those ribs before they smoke them and that takes away from the flavor. So I hop the will read this and stop the boiling those ribs. The sauce is good mash potatoes are good

This was my first time at Gemato's & it was Love at First Bite ❤️ I had their rib tips, with a side of Mac and cheese and Garlic mash potatoes & it was amazing. The owner took my order when I called to place the order and he was very courteous.. I love their customer service as much as their food. I highly recommend Gemato's Wood Pit, I'm visiting family in Chicago and everytime I come into town, I'm going to stop in and have my Rib Tips. 😋

The brisket was tender and delicious. I ordered the barbecue sauce on the side to save on calories and sugar. I ate most of the meat without it, still tasty. The garlic mashed potatoes could have used more garlic. Does any restaurant ever use fresh potatoes anymore? The cole slaw was delicious but I would have liked to have just a little more portion.

A little on the pricey side, but these days you have to be to stay open. The cowboy decor is classy and very cool! Restaurant is very clean. Food was quick and delicious and we will be back for more!

Bbq with ribs brisket and chicken, i think the meat was cooked perfect but all i could taste was the bbq sauce that it was all swimming in. If your bbq is that great no sauce is needed maybe i shouldve asked for it on the side, friendly and fast service

Stopped in for a BBQ PULLED PORK SANDWICH. It came with a slaw but you can also choose beans. The pork was very good but there was alot of sauce on it. The sauce was very good but next time I will order easy sauce. The slaw came in a 3 or 4 oz container and it tasted good. The interior of the restaurant is spacious and very clean and well kept. Workers were friendly. Next time I will take pics. I forgot because I was hungry. One last important thing to mention is that they use real wood to smoke their meats like it's done down south where BBQ originated.

This food is incredibly delicious! We are so happy we stopped off the highway. It was so worth going a little out of the way for. Staff and owners are wonderful people that make sure you enjoy every bite! They also have drinks available too. Try this bbq you won’t be disappointed. 5 stars !!!!

Not gonna lie these beef ribs could've came with more meat on them. There good don't get me wrong but the amount of meat on these ribs are disrespectful. I've seen other recent reviews and they didn't lie. Is there anything that could be done I want to be a repeat customer but you gotta fix this problem. 3 stars but 5 stars on how good my order was. Thanks Just finished eating the ribs and im not satisfied with my half slab of beef ribs im not even full.

Great choice for barbecue! The ribs fall right off the bone. There wasn't much of a wait and I'll know to call the order in next time to make it even faster. They make a good salad too, so I will definitely be back!

Great menu selection. The garlic bread, chicken nuggets and Greek fries were delicious. Rib tips didn't taste fresh, but I did visit during a non busy time. But the BBQ sauce made them much better. Staff was very nice. I would come here again.

My husband, 4 yr old and I had dinner here on a Friday night. GREAT service. Employees are welcoming and professional from the moment you walk in, to the moment you leave. We observed the workers wiping down surfaces, chairs and tables as soon as customers left from the dining room. The bathroom is VERY clean and well stocked. As for the food, my husband had the brisket & rib tip combo with potato wedges. Our 4 yr old had the grilled cheese with fries from the kids menu and I had the brisket, ribs and chicken combo with a baked potato and Mac&cheese. We also ordered jalapeño poppers and an appetizer basket (fried mushrooms, cheese sticks, onion rings). The appetizers were piping hot 🔥 (definitely NOT a complaint). My husband loved the rib tips but stated that he could do without the brisket (there wasn't anything wrong with it, just preference) and raved about the sauce. My portions were both BIG and good. And the grilled cheese/fries were good and hot too. The only negative comment is that both my husband and my meats (ribs, chicken, brisket) weren't hot too. They were were warm but we would've preferred hot and that's why I gave 4 out of 5 stars. We'll be back 🙂
