I took my date to Geja’s Cafe 30 years ago and today we returned with our two teenagers to celebrate a special occasion. Not much has changed and that’s a good thing. The ambiance is as nice as ever, romantic if that’s what you want or perfectly cozy with some close friends. The menu offers excellent options for fondue, and they added outdoor fire tables 5-6 years ago (call ahead for all reservations). Geja’s Cafe is well-known to many Chicagoans, yet it seems that the restaurant boom in the last 10-12 years have lured many younger professionals away from this unique and flavorful dining experience. I hope to return to Geja’s Cafe again for a special occasion down the road.

I love this place no matter how many times I go. I took my kids here for the first time yesterday and they thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. The food was delish and it was great because it kept everyone interactive. No one even wanted to pick up a phone! The service was good as well. Our table didn’t drink but the table next to us did and the bar tender had extensive knowledge of all the wine they had. I was very impressed. The place is so quaint as well. I originally booked the patio and they were able to move us inside. I’m so glad they did. They are pergolas only closed in on 3 sides and have a fire pit, you are left open on one side and the ceiling as well. They really need to warn you that you need to come in a parka to sit outside in the winter in Chicago. Many places in Chicago have patios enclosed for the winter, but they are heated and you dress the same as you would outside. So happy they were able to switch us or we would have had to leave. In all a fantastic experience as always. Looking forward to our next visit.

Reservations highly RECOMMENDED I can see why Geja's Cafe would be considered the most romantic spots in all of Chicago. The atmosphere here is perfect for any special occasions or dinner date. The service is phenomenal. Our two servers, Horacio M and the other (didn't get her name) were very attentive to our needs and made our dining experience pleasant. The food for the fondue dinner is out of this world. We had ordered the International that came with an appetizer basket, a salad plate, and the main course (beef tenderloins, Gulf shrimp, and boneless chicken). Every bite we enjoyed and were amazed as to how tastful everything was. I would certainly recommend Geja's Cafe for anyone that wants a fantastic fondue experience or is looking for a romantic spots.

Excellent food and great service. I do want to highlight they have great list of Non-Alcoholic cocktails and you can also split the food an order! We also tried the house wine and I have to say it was great!! We did the red wine.

Geja's Cafe in Chicago offers a truly delightful dining experience. This fondue restaurant exudes an inviting ambiance that's perfect for a romantic evening. While my recent visit didn't include sitting outside by the fire, I couldn't help but notice how cozy and inviting it looked. It's a promise for next time, as it seems like the ideal spot to enjoy a warm, intimate setting. The interactive nature of Geja's Cafe makes it an excellent choice for a date night. Sharing a variety of fondues, from cheese to chocolate, adds an element of fun and engagement to the dining experience. It's an opportunity to bond over a unique and delicious meal. The food itself was fantastic, with a wide selection of dipping options and decadent chocolate fondues for dessert. The staff was attentive, enhancing the overall experience. If you're seeking a memorable and romantic dining experience, Geja's Cafe is a must-visit in Chicago. The cozy atmosphere, delicious fondues, and interactive nature of the meal make it a perfect spot for a special date night.

Went here for my anniversary as my beloved bride has a deep burning love of all things fondue. I was able to snag an outdoor reso for the two of us and we’re lucky the weather wasn’t too hot. Their outdoor setup is sooper nice as you can see from the photos. The fire was a little warm but the really nice staff were more than happy to adjust it. The fondue was on point and delicious. I did find it interesting that none of the elements were cooked for the cheese fondue as we have found that some are better off with cheese in said way. I also order some steak, lobster, and shrimp fondue and we thoroughly enjoyed crisping up onions and potatoes in the oil fondue and then dunking them in the cheese (highly recommend this double foudue action). By the time the chocolate found came around I was stuffed like a piñata but dug in anyways.

We had frequented Geja's when we lived in Chicago more than a decade ago, and were happy to visit again as tourists. The ambiance and service were amazing--top notch as always. The fondue experience was surreal--highly recommend the outside patio dining by the fire. Cheese fondue was great, the main course was extremely fresh and ample servings, and of course, the flaming chocolate dessert. Wine service was great, with an incredible selection. Nothing compares to Geja's!

Mediocre at best. Even the seasoning they provide isn’t enough to make the food make sense. You definitely don’t get your money’s worth with the amount of food you get (to cook yourself) and we got the biggest platter. Makes you wonder what they charging so much for? To chop vegetables and light candles lol? Maybe srason or marinate some of the meat. Only good part was the wine selection, they have affordable bottles. Otherwise, I was excited to go for my bday but I was not impressed and left still very hungry, got tacos after lol. The photo below is BOTH our food, 1 side per person….yeah, 0/10, do not recommend. Waste of money.

My dining experience at Geja's Cafe was nothing short of incredible. The fondue, featuring lobster, shrimp, and steak, was a true delight for the taste buds. The wine selection was extensive and complemented the meal perfectly. The staff was attentive and made the evening even more enjoyable.

One of the few places I believe in general deserving of 5 stars - it is a wonderful experience - the staff are very professional - the flow and the vibe was great. Dont expect it to be a dinner where you end up being stuffed but also this is not the place for it, so just setting expectations for everyone. Food was yummy(we went fully meat, no seafood), the dessert was amazing! The time is very appropriate and I would say it is more intimate than a group gathering - but I feel there is a place for everyone so the groups are not mingling with the couples (at least not everywhere) Anyway - totally an experience to have in Chicago!

My partner and I were celebrating our anniversary here. Geja's Cafe knocks it out of the park. We entered greeted with warmth and kindness from the staff. Constantly good wishes for our anniversary along with a beautiful card. We both ordered the Geja's Premier Fondue Dinners: Prince Geja's Combination and Beef tenderloin and chicken. Our waiter, Michael, was attentive and great. We enjoyed every stage of fondue, along with the great service from staff. Thank you so much!

I’ll be honest, I was skeptical about all of the hype, but it’s true! Geja’s Cafe is the most romantic restaurant I’ve ever visited! Typically I try to judge restaurants across 4 categories: Food, service, atmosphere, and value. My date and I had a great time cooking our own food together and indulging in the chocolate fondue, our waiter was very welcoming and attentive, the ambiance was delightful with a live guitarist playing in the background, and the entire experience was delivered at a reasonable price! I’m recommending it to couples everywhere!

Overall an amazing experience. Atmosphere is awesome and the service was great. My only complaint is the price for so little protein. I paid 87 dollars for the combo and definitely didn’t get as much meat as I thought I should. Regardless Still was delicious and definitely recommend

Gejas Cafe is a fondue restaurant that has been in business for more than 50 years. This quaint, candle-lit and festively decorated restaurant has been named America’s Most Romantic Restaurant by a USA Today’s reader poll. As you are enjoying your dinner, there is a musician playing classical and Flamenco guitar music creating a lovely ambience. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Dinner at Geja’s Cafe includes a three course fondue experience: cheese, protein and Belgian chocolate. You can choose from beef, chicken, seafood and/or vegetarian options for your main fondue meal. A selection of house-made sauces come with this course. Try them all! ⁣ ⁣ They are offering the most delicious Winter Fondue choices as well. Just imagine dipping the veggies, fruit and bread into the warm, fragrant cheese or fruit, cake, marshmallows and Rice Krispie treats in to the chocolate! Yum! ⁣ ⁣⁣ 🧄 🫕Roasted Garlic and Fontina Cheese Fondue⁣⁣ 🍫🫕Peppermint Belgian Chocolate Fondue⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Their cocktail menu is filled with creative and festively designed flavor profiles. We started with the Sangria and Winter Daquiri, enjoyed Geja’s Cafe Private Reserve wine with our main course fondue and finished off our dessert fondue with either a Bailey’s or Frangelico Latte mixed table side. ⁣⁣ ⁣ Such a fun and delicious dining experience. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣

Went here for a date night since I kept seeing this restaurant listed as one of the top restaurants to go to for a romantic date night. Had a nice table outdoors and had the best experience. We’ve gone to fondue restaurants before and usually they have small portions. You’re left here feeling full and satisfied. Our waiter Gary was so nice! He gave excellent recommendations and even convinced me that grapes and cheese go well together. He made excellent conversation and made our date night enjoyable. The ambience is so nice here and the food was amazing of course. Would definitely recommend the drinks! The autumn fizz and the royale were so yummy!

Absolutely the top 3 restaurants I have ever been to! The service was impeccable. I had a Pepsi and I drink a lot and I never had to ask for a refill I always had a new one coming my way. Their signature cocktails were amazing. All three courses were so much fun to cook and delicious to eat! It was pricey but really romantic and sexy restaurant. Live guitar player. Our waiter was outstanding gave us all the instructions and answered all of our questions. Definitely will be back! The dessert was so delicious toasted marshmallows and dipped in the chocolate and they had graham cracker crumbs.

Our server and the whole staff went above and beyond to ensure I had an excellent experience. The ambience of the restaurant with the live music was perfect for a date night out. We did the three course meal with wine pairings and a dessert cocktail. Everything was perfect. I can’t wait to come back to this place!

My husband and I recently had a magical experience at Geja. From the moment we walked in, we were swept away by the cozy and intimate ambiance that set the stage for a truly unforgettable evening. The menu is extensive, offering a wide variety of fondue options. We started with the classic cheese fondue as an appetizer, and it was a delightful blend of creamy cheeses, perfectly seasoned and accompanied by a selection of fresh bread, crisp vegetables, and fruit. We then opted for a meat and seafood option. When the platter arrived, it was arranged with an assortment of tender beef, succulent shrimp, potatoes, mushrooms, broccoli and onions. The fondue pot, bubbling, allowed us to cook the meats to our liking, creating a fun and interactive dining experience. We ended the dinner with the decadent chocolate fondue served with marshmallows, fruit and moist, fluffy cake. It was heaven. The service was impeccable (shout out to Tyson!). We wanted for nothing as he seemed to anticipate our needs. Overall, the warmth of the staff made us feel like valued guests. From the romantic atmosphere to the delectable food and outstanding service, every aspect of the evening was thoughtfully crafted to create a truly unforgettable experience.

We did the Geja’s @Home experience and it was so fun! The perfect date night activity! You pick up all the supplies and food from the restaurant— plus instructions on how to do everything! We also got two bottles of their wine! If you’re looking for a fun, chill experience, this is a must try! Their customer service was also spectacular!

The food was to die for! We dined in tonight and enjoyed the beef tenderloin as well as the seafood mix. A taste of everything. I was here for the holidays and had no idea what to expect taking my girlfriend to Geja’s. The fondue and the chocolate fondue was absolutely to die for. We ate as much we could and had an amazing dining experience with our server Gary. 10/10 would recommend coming here again with Gary taking care of us.

We are celebrating our anniversary here. The host is very friendly and gives us a close (tend to be more quiet) table. The staff are very professional. The dine in flow is very smooth. After finishing the appetizer, the waiter legit comes to clean our table within 1 minutes and then move to the next step for the main dish. The staff is always around when you need help; we feel very welcome. Even if it is a bit pricy, great experience, great vibe and great service are worth to revisit again. I really appreciate their service and really enjoy my dine-in experience. FYI- I’m very surprised they have live music on Monday night.

A great experience from start to finish. We had Prince Geja's combination. This was our first time at Geja's, but not our last. Our waiter Gary , along with the staff were very helpful. Dessert fondue with chocolate was also very good.

I feel that this type of place is a an interesting experience. The idea of soaking bread in cheese and coating sweets in chocolate is enticing. The seating is slightly cramped. My date and I shared a long table with another couple on a date and we could hear every word. There were table decor to divide the space. The lighting was dim. This seems like a nice spot for a date. However if you are cooking your meal avoid clothes that may get ruined with a splash of oil. The price is more than expected for small portions and having to cook your own main dish. Another thingl I didn't realize before arriving, is the main meal is cooked by you, at the table and in a kettle of oil. But like I said if you want to try something new and have an interesting experience it's worth a try at least once.

Literally, I cannot say enough GREAT things about Geja's!!! This is where my boyfriend surprised me for our 2nd anniversary, and the Geja's staff made it a point to make it special and celebrate with us (we were greeted with a sweet "happy anniversary" card that was signed by them all🥺)The food selections/flavors, staff, and atmosphere were top notch. To put it simply, it was an experience-- one I've never had before, but can't wait to have again! If Geja's crosses your mind as a potential dinner/celebration spot, do yourself the favor and just make the reservation. You'll 100% be happy you did☺️

Have been here twice now and both times have been phenomenal. Great for date night, anniversary, or any other special occasions. Its a little pricey but beyond worth it. Great tasting food, great atmosphere, great staff too. I had Laura as my waitress and she did an excellent job. The rest of the staff was just as attentive and caring as Laura was as well. Would definitely recommend anyone to come try Geja's!

The cheese fondue blew us away and the chocolate was very good. The meat and seafood were only as good as we were at cooking them, and we weren't the best. It is very hard to see if your meat is cooked when you're basically sitting in the dark though. The much acclaimed romantic ambiance felt a bit forced and was undercut by all the cobwebs in the wrought iron. The staff was great and we enjoyed the live music so overall we had a pretty good experience. If I came again, I think I'd stick to the cheese and chocolate fondue.

The experience was so much fun and was very unique. I’ve never experienced a dinner at a restaurant where I cook my own meal. However this was not a dinner worth $130 a person (Valentine’s day package). We were expecting at least a whole lobster tail, and/or full piece of beef. Instead, we each got 2 small pieces of lobster tail, 2 small pieces of beef, and about 3 shrimp with a bunch of veggies. The meat was small enough to poke it with a skewer and cook it. It was good, just was expecting more for the value. It also wasn’t as intimate as I thought. The live music was playing in the other half of the restaurant and was something I had looked forward to seeing during my dinner, so that was unfortunate! Despite everything mentioned, Elliot our server was awesome and the fondues were delicious.

Make sure to try this beautiful drink, the “Arabian Night” (I think lol) Of course you are paying for the experience and ambiance There food cost is so little!!!!! They are making an AMAZING profit!!!!! Go Geja🤣

Geja’s was SO good. Relaxing atmosphere, nice staff, amazing food, and very reasonably priced wine. Great for any occasion, really. The only slight downside is that you/your clothes will smell like the oil you cook your food in, so keep that in mind if you’re going somewhere afterwards. Will be back!

What a great experience dining at Geja's Cafe! It was the perfect spot for a date night! The service was great as we were greeted right away and the entire vibe of the restaurant was luxurious and romantic. As a real estate broker who sells homes and condos in the area, it was exciting to see such a unique style of dining in our neighborhood! I will definitely be recommending Geja's to all my clients and friends! Our meal started with a delicious Swiss Gruyere cheese fondue that was perfect for dipping the bread, veggies, and fruits. We ordered Geja's Premier Fondue Dinners with beef tenderloin, chicken breasts, and shrimp. It was so cool to cook our own food to our liking in the pot of oil provided at the table. The sauces for our meats and veggies were delicious and there were lots of options. My favorite part had to be the dessert! The chocolate fondue was so delicious and perfect for dipping all the sweet treats; they brought a plate of churros, cake, rice krispies, strawberries, bananas, pineapple, cherries, marshmallows, and graham cracker crumbs. We will have to visit this place again, even if it is for a quick bite or a drink by the bar. Thank you to Geja's for being so great to us!

Eating at Geja’s cafe was an experience I won’t soon forget. I’ve in had fondue only once before. About 15 years ago I made it at home with my the girl friend, and now wife. I have to admit that I was a laborious experience and one I have not attempted since. However, our meal at Gaia’s Cafe was so much a fun and with delicious food. First, the atmosphere and experience was amazing. This is called Chicago’s most restaurant for a reason. The lighting it low with red overtones. This creates a intimate experience. It no wonder multiple wedding proposals are made here on a weekly basis. Second the food quality is very good. If you believe they would skip on good food because focus is on the atmosphere, you are wrong. The cheese for the fondue was very flavorful and yummy. Also, the beef tenderloin, shrimp and veggies were high quality and fresh. Third, service is amazing. Our waiter was friendly and had great suggestions for how to cook the the food in the oil. Also, they are very attentive and cleared the table efficiently. It also says something that the bartender we had has been there for 20 years and the owner worked there for 30 years before buying the restaurant. My wife and I were here for one of their wine events. The event feature wine pairings from two wineries in the same region of California. Geja’s had representatives from each winery at the event. It was fascinating hearing details about each winery, how their wine was made and how the region of made their wines special. We also had an opportunity to buy some wine which is not available locally. Over all this was an experience with great food and fun. It is must for date night or if you just love cheese, meat and wine.

One of my FAVORITE restaurants I’ve ever been to!! My boyfriend and I loved the dining experience so much, that we decided to try the take home kabob kit to enjoy. We got the sangrias to start, all 4 kabob varieties (beef, chicken, veggie and shrimp), fingerling potatoes and Mac n cheese on the side, cheese fondue with dippables, and my favorite, the Belgian chocolate fondue with sweets and fruits to dip! P.s. their sauces are all homemade and seriously my favorite!!! It was something that needed to be cooked and reheated so it doesn’t come ready to eat as a heads up, but this was so much fun to share with our friends and a great idea for a night in! Of course if you ever can, make sure to dine in as well 🥰
