9/10 it was very scary ( at least for me bcs it was my first haunted house) When you finally get to go in the first room the lights flicker really fast and to me it felt like I wasn’t even there and I loved that feeling. honestly if I wasn’t holding on to my cousin I would’ve just stayed like a statue . And there were 2 parts of it the second part you wear 3D glasses which made everyone and everything super trippy. Even after the 2 hour wait in the line I think it was very much worth it. (I would’ve shown more pictures if we could’ve recorded inside, sorry)

The line was long, but they made it even 1,5 hours long, line fun. With dj, performers, and some freebies. Inside the house was terrifying. I was the very first person of my group, so no one was in front of me. For that reason, it was more scary, lol. I highly recommend this amazing place. And I thank everyone who works here. They're definitely putting up a good show.

i give this place 5 stars... i went this past weekend on opening weekend and i got the VIP ticket. which was worth it because the wait in line was not bad for VIP.... the haunted house or basement i should say,,.. its pretty long and when you think its over there is a part two to it.

Screamed more in the past 2 hours than I have in the past 20 years! 5/5 scream absolutely reccomend!!!! Laughed even harder, full experience of creepy and jump scare, full engagement! ALL the actors are amazing, the cast is amazing and Freak Skinny gave me a chance to get a lot of material of the night, he's EPIC!!! Family run, great DJ and engagement for the long long line that makes VIP worth the money, but waiting is part of the experience and the engagement with actors was amazing! Y'all love what you do and it shows!! Thanks to all of you for proving I can still scream like a girl!!!!

I went on friday the 13th so it was pretty fun. The lines weren’t too long and had a great time with my friend. I didn’t see the milkman from the advertisements, to which I was a bit disappointed about. Other than that, the attraction was pretty interesting and worth the money. I enjoyed how there were 2 parts of it. It wasn’t very scary though, so that’s why I give it 4 stars.

Had a great time with actors in the line along with music while we waited to get in. Large set and many animations with actors mixed in well. Went for Lights Out event and it was awesome!

A group of my friends and I pre-paid for tickets for 8pm last Saturday. Although, when you're buying the tickets online, it does say (in very small print) that "Wait times can vary", you would never expect to wait in line for 3 hours when you've pre-paid for a ticket, right? We asked an employee how long the wait would be from where we were in line, and we overheard them say 3 hours (the picture attached is about 1/3rd of the total line). We waited for 30mins before we decided to leave. And, of course, there's no refunds either--they do not outright tell you the refund policy online unless you search for it. Dear Basement of the Dead, If you're going to incentivize (pressure) people to buy tickets ahead of time, and if you're not going to put the effort into creating a system that makes 3+ hour lines impossible, the least you can do is be INCREDIBLY forthcoming about the wait times and refund policy before we're able to pay. No matter how amazing the haunted house MIGHT have been, I can guarantee that it would not have made up for me losing 3 hours on a Saturday night to your inability to manage/organize your business.

The Kimbrough Krew & Friends went to Basement of the Dead Wicked Wednesday special event. It was a blast! Be prepared to scream! Tons of jump scares! The entire staff is very friendly. We will be back again before spooky season is over!

First off, this wasn’t the easiest place to find. I was navigated fairly close to this haunted house, but it’s located behind the street. Luckily, I saw the vehicle with their name on it. Oddly, they sold tickets out of this vehicle. I did manage to find free parking down the road. I purchased General Admission Combo Tickets online for my girlfriend and I. These tickets allowed us to go to Basement of the Dead/Shattered 3D and Disturbia, which is located in Downers Grove. It let us come anytime during open hours and split the days up between the two locations. I paid about $120 for both Combo Tickets. It seemed like a good deal online. The line was very weird. They had us go through a garage-type building to scan our tickets and start our wait. It quickly swerved into a tight corner and then after a bit, they directed us to go to a lower level part of the line down some stairs. The layout was just so bad. They had some actors interact with the line throughout our wait. They eventually threw free items to the line that consisted of shot glasses and T-shirts. I was lucky enough to catch a T-shirt. It was an XL, so that was disappointing, but oh well. It was a cool feature they had. Our wait ended up being about an hour and a half, but I kind of expected it would be, as we went on a Friday. They had us go into a tent-type area with a small group that they formed before directing us into the haunted house. The beginning was definitely odd, since they had us get really low to the ground underneath a tarp-type concoction. There were too any blockages of people here. They may have rushed to send people in. It didn’t take too long to walk through this house. I wasn’t too into this house. Nothing really stood out here. Right after we exited the Basement of the Dead Haunted House, we went to Shattered 3D. It’s basically a few steps away after you exit. We were handed 3D glasses for this attraction. There wasn’t really a wait for this one. I liked the theme here better. This place was a lot more vibrant. The scare actors seemed to be more interactive in here. They had some cool floor features in here. The glasses made me feel more involved with the attraction opposed to the first. It was around the same time to walk this attraction. Overall, this haunt was pretty bad. The vibe it gave me while I waited wasn’t spooky. If they didn’t have Shattered 3D, I would have gave them a one star for sure. I feel they could do a lot better, but at a different location. Date of visit: 10/21/2022

We've done the Haunts at every major themepark in the country. We've down haunts in malls and prisons and high rises. This somehow found a way to be the best, scariest, most disorienting haunt We've experienced and we can't wait to do it again!

I went to Disturbia Haunted House two weeks before coming to The Basement of the Dead Haunted House. Disturbia was amazing but Basement of the Dead is on another level! The haunted house was dark with lots of twists and turns, lots of props and scare actors that jump scared the heck out of me; especially one of the scare actors that crawled down a long dark hallway on the ceiling suspended by ropes. The fog, the lights, the spinning tunnel; it was just so much fun. The 3D Haunted House included was fantastic! Just felt like you were in another world. I would highly recommend coming to The Basement of the Dead Haunted House. Would recommend purchasing VIP tickets in advance if you don't want to wait in line too long. Also, the merch was fire! I purchased a lot (I'm a sucker for haunted house merch) and let me tell you; the quality is superb! The employees and scare actors were all great! HIGHLY recommend!! Thank you Basement of the Dead, you guys rock.

Took a friend for his first time. Had fun with the actors. I love how they let us take photos if we ask and they play with everyone and act scary and goofy. It's fun and spooky.

This haunt is known for their line entertainment, and that's half the reason to go! It's a party the entire night outside. Inside, the theming is very dark so be prepared.

I went Friday night to the unhappily. Ever after valentine's special haunted house and it was the best one yet. This haunted house always has the best scares and this time they outdid themselves. I try to go to all of their holiday events because this is always the best haunted attraction.

The people are nice but we were disappointed by the Valentine’s Day event at Basement of the Dead. I was excited because I remembered their haunted house during the Halloween season was really fun a few years ago. This event, unfortunately, wasn’t very fun, interesting, scary, or interactive. It was more Easter themed than Valentine’s Day themed and seemed much shorter than their regular haunted house experience. The best part was the rose that lights up that we got to use during the house and keep. We went to the Valentine’s Day haunted house at 13th floor and it was very interactive, fun, and on theme. Please rethink your special events as this felt like more of a cash grab than a well planned event.

It was pretty okay. They had good snacks for waiting. Wait was almost two hours for a Sunday which wasn’t great, the music outside wasn’t scary and I enjoy scary music before a haunted house. There was a lot of walking along walls with vines it felt like but still scary I guess. Not many masks, more face paint. Makeup was great but not as scary as masks would be.

Basement of the Dead ALWAYS has a haunt going on. They are not only just are open for Halloween but they have St. Patrick’s Day Haunts , Christmas Haunts! You name it , THEY HAVE IT! They make a ton of changes for each season, including inside the haunt! They do a great job of scaring you! They know how to party, they have a DJ so even before you go into the haunt you get pumped up! Line actors are outside of the haunt either entertaining you or scaring you before you go inside ! I recommend Basement of the Dead! Check out Xwhalloweenblast.com for more details! #halloweenblast #supoortyourhaunts #basementofthedead

One of the greatest haunted houses I've ever been to. We drove from Iowa to experience it and it was well worth it. Definitely will be back and highly recommend

We had a very great time here. It was our first time here and this haunted house did NOT disappoint! We loved the 3D portion of our tour, and Steph had to hold her ears closed as we walked through the clown area.

Had such a fun time! Got the immediate entry ticket and it genuinely was immediate--no waiting at all. Staff was friendly and fun, props were well made. Second part of the experience was well designed and a great way to finish! Also had an issue with purchasing multiple tickets that was easily resolved after talking with the staff there. Can't wait to go back next year!

This experience was nothing short of phenomenal and scary as all hell. I laughed so hard after because of how much I screamed and it was well worth it. The staff working outdoors is so friendly and accommodating. The entertainment while you wait is awesome from the DJ, to the haunts wondering around, the gear, and hot dog stand. We did the VIP entrance and it was well worth it! I will definitely be back and I hear they do a XMAS themed one! Can’t wait!
