Whalon Lake is a fantastic outdoor getaway packed with activities. The scenic walking/running path is perfect for daily exercise. They offer kayak rentals, spacious picnic areas with charcoal grills, and even a bike pit stop. Restrooms are available, and fishing is popular here. The only thing missing is a playground. Still, it's a versatile oasis worth visiting for nature lovers.

Beautiful neat trail with 2 island where you can do your own kayaking or rent right by the island. The inner circle I believe is 1.4 mile, However it’s more bigger then that yet to be explored. I enjoyed the sunset view and the walk. It also has a BBQ place so great for having family picnic or small get together. Good for rollerblades as well Washroom & water are also on the site Luv it !!!

This is a well-kept, clean and peaceful area to walk or run on. The lake is ideal for canoeing and fishing. There's a dog park and further along the lake, a pathway and small bridge leading to hidden lakes trout farm. There are no shaded area save for the two picnic shelters, one close to the dog park and other is next to the lake. You can spot some water fowls such as ducks, geese or an occasional egret along the lake.

Whalon Lake is one of my favorite places to go for a few hours of fun or relaxation. They have rentals for kayaking, which we did and it was enjoyable. The Staff member there was polite and very engaging..

First time there to kayak. Easy access. Very clean lake and surroundings. We have our own kayaks, but they have rentals. Tried to fish, but too hot and the fish where too lazy to bite, lol. One of our top spots now!!

Really pretty area that backs up into a trail along the dupage river. Just wish there wasn't so much industrial stuff in the background by the lake

Beautiful lake with a nice trail on the perimeter. Kayak and Canoe rentals are also available from Naperville Kayak but they overcharge. Take your own kayak and enjoy. Many spots to do fishing, some fishes that are widely available are Catfish, Walleye and Bluegill.

Amazing place! Lake is beautiful, saw some turtles with some friends. FYI - You do need a permit for the dog park. There is Kayak Rental here, so you do not have to bring you own which is definitely a plus one in my book. There is something for everybody! Definitely coming back soon!!

A beautiful place to spend time in the early mornings or evenings. Reasonably large lake around which one can walk, jog or ride a bicycle. One can even decide to just sit there and observe- do day dreaming 😁. There are some shades and benches to plan a party or celebrations.

This lake is gorgeous! Paved/stroller friendly. It's so relaxing and calming. Alot of geese, ducks, and birds. Parking available. Covered pavilion to eat under. Benches placed around the lake to rest or take in scenery. Bathroom also available. Connects to the trout farm park. Where there is also parking and beautiful ponds for fishing.

Wonderful neighborhood lake with nice cycling and jogging track and boat launch. Only electric motors allowed for boats. Maximum boat length 18feet. They currently have a kayak rental centre going through labor day.

A great place to fish but it’s better if you when it’s clam bc the fish are more likely to bite when they see the bait

Lovely lake. It has a bike/ walk path , landing for boats and and kayak ing in the lake. It has a bike / walk path looping the lake and also many trails which go away from lake - which I havent yet tried. Could see lot of cranes , ducks , geese. We rented kayak from naperville kayak - they had setup a tent right beside the lake .

Great lake for shore fishing. There is an area on the west perimeter of the lake that has some steps leading down to the lake, just a few steps north from the parking lot. I've caught mostly bluegill but some largemouth bass as well.

I like this park with a relatively large lake. The lake used to be a quarry and is sufficiently large to not be boring in a kayak, and the island on the center make for a good destination. I also enjoy riding my bike around the lake on a well build two lane path that leads all the way to Koch Knolle Park on one end and route 53 on the other. They recently build a new trail that I yet have to explore. The area also features a dog park and opportunities to observe water fowl.

Beautiful lake , great gor kayaking. The trails around it are so beautiful. It links to the dupage river trail as well as Naperville green way. Beauty is serene. They have onsite restrooms and parking lot is observed by police department so its always safe.

Plenty of parking. Lake is big enough for kayaking and/or fishing. I love that the walking paths are paved for biking or roller-blading.

Peaceful. They do however need to put a porta potty off the Royce Road side. Sometimes a mile and a half is a long way around. This may not seem like a long way until you are all the way on the other end of the trail and your bladder decides to kick in. The picnic areas are a nice size. It is nice to have access to the lake as well.

My favorite park in the area for sure! My hubby & I love coming here for a nice long scenic walk! The views are amazing. The park is also very clean and maintained well.

Wonderful place!! Nice paths!! It would be nice if folks picked up after their pets (outside the dog area) - just gross. Also notice a lot of visitors leave litter when there are plenty of receptacles.

Nice paved walk around the lake - twice around the lake is just over 3 miles. However, be careful of all the speeding bikers (mainly on weekends) who think the paved path around the lake is their own personal Tour de France. Many times, these bikers speed past walkers at 25+ mph without even saying anything (or you will get an “on your left” at the same exact time they are passing.) Needless to say, the path can be dangerous especially for anyone wearing headphones or with little kids or animals. It always seems like an accident is just waiting to happen. If you can come walk during the week, it should be a little safer as their are less speeding bicyclists then.

Went around the couple mile loop at Whalon Lake. It’s a great place for a breezy stroll. There are signs saying it is also good for fishing as there are channel catfish, bluegill, crappie, largemouth, and even walleye on one side of the lake. It used to be a 100 foot deep quarry so the fishing will have to wait until there is a little warmer weather and they come closer to the shores.

Nice paved walking/bike trail around lake. A nice variety of birds Egrets, Herons, hawks, and eagles to see at the park.

  • 4/5 Mike N. 3 years ago on Google
Great for an easy bike ride or walk. If you want to fish, seems best you have a boat or kayak to get out into the lake. Lots of weeds In the water along the bank to get your bait / lure snagged unless you are fishing off the pier which can get a bit crowded at times.
