NOT FOR TENT CAMPING. The trails were fine and the facility is well kept up. It's clear this is not made for someone who enjoys tent camping though. The site was $50 (!?) for one night because they only had an electrical site available. It's just one large open area on the side of the lake. No privacy. The neighbors (in the cabins and RVs) were blaring music until midnight and the screaming (yes screaming) from drunk (?) campers around us went on until around 2am. Honestly, the most expensive and least enjoyable camping experience I've had in years. A day trip on the trails would've been nice. Tent camping was a nightmare.

Great place for camping or fishing. Caught manny bullheads bass carp and blues. The trick is for to go to the opposite side of the camp and through the path through the tall weeds until you find the far back openings

Wish they had a few steps to walk up the hill the snow turned to ice and we kept slipping and falling. But it is decent place for family adventure hiking, trekking, mountain bike riding, sledding, fishing and now camping.

Very nice place with many things to do. They have cabins you can stay in as well as camp sites and rv spots. Definitely a gem in the Chicago area. I use their dump station for our motorhome as there are very few in northern Illinois.

I only have 1 star because 0? Wasn’t an option. First: The room was dirty, the office lied and said it was no availability to switch, meanwhile the cabin next to us remained vacant the entire time. Second: we were told we could not set up tent on the ground near the pavilion due to mud by our cabin… we saw 3 tents set up the time we were there. Third: the room had bed bugs, and we took a picture and physically showed the office and they only gave us garbage bags, I was bit by a spider and it got infected, I became Ill with high fever and very week, and had to go to the hospital. No I must see a wound care specialist for more treatment. I feel the room could have been clean and treated knowing different people come in and out, and we definitely feel we were not given fair opportunity.

My folks and me went there some years ago for vacation. The area was really nice and cabins was a treat for the price we paid to rent. I recommend the place to anyone wanting a nice easy place to relax by a lake and enjoy the sunset or sunrise beautiful place.

Make your reservations within 48 hrs or get ready for some difficulty. After that hurdle, I will tell you that we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at Camp Bullfrog!!!!! We had the large cabin which is climate controlled with a bathroom/shower. Fished with the grandkids for hours and caught tons of fish. Terry and John were outstandingly helpful. The grounds are clean with plenty of wildlife, made our trip a great memory.

Trail system is one of the best in Chicagoland. The sloughs provide excellent birdwatching, the lotuses are beautiful in the summer, and I always see wildlife. Try to blue trail for more altitude than you’ll find most anywhere in NE Illinois!

We camp here often. Love the sites (although wish there were water hookups), the view is amazing, and the amount of space at each site is great. Also, the staff is friendly.

Wonderful place to visit. We actually accidently ended up there instead of maple lake. And it was surreal. Really loved there.

Nice area for taking a walk around the lake and taking a walk to other nearby forest preserve areas. Plentiful parking along the roadway leading to the restricted camping area. Though there are a few picnic tables in the area leading to the camping area, there is no pavilion or washroom facilities. The trails that are accessible to the general public are not paved. Good views of the lake and nature, though.
