I love to go walking here and take the kayak too! So many beautiful pictures and when you get to the back of the lake....silence. Itโ€™s hard to find anywhere in nature where there isnโ€™t the sound of cars. You can find that here.

Boat, kayak, or fish - there is an REI boathouse on site. Nice, but not as nice as the Skokie Lagoons

A fun place to paddle your kayak, fish, or hike. Itโ€™s crowded sometimes, so get here early. You can rent items from REI here and they have a porta potty. Plenty of parking most days. The snake in the photo is a harmless northern water snake. They leave you alone.

First place my father took me to fish back about 1963. I was glad when they drained the lake, cleaned and restocked it.

We love coming here to watch the sunset or kayak, but the past couple of visits have been quite odd. The last time we were here in the beginning of June a group of teenagers set off an m80 explosive about 100 feet away from us which was very unsettling, and it really upset an older couple. Other than that, itโ€™s a beautiful spot!

Great kayak spot! Multiple parking lots. Boat launch with small dock. Nearby hiking trails.

My all time favorite place to do some recreational kayaking. Almost 400 acres of stunning nature.

I really liked this place for itโ€™s dark park atmosphere. Went to take photos of full moon. Packed up and was headed out when Barney Fife showed up with quite a bad attitude. Itโ€™s a dark park, I said โ€œhow you doing?โ€ He snaps back with the park closes at sunset. I said we were doing full moon photography and again said the park closes at sunset. Obviously didnโ€™t understand what dark park meant!

One of my favorite places to go and relax. There are some sketchy and loud characters there pretty often. Between the loud music and partying it seems like they may consider looking into building a picnic shelter foe the gatherings. Lots and lots of garbage from food drinks and fishing present, post some risks of injury to people and wildlife or pets. If the place was kept more clean and a little quieter, it would be a staple in the area to get away for a hike. If you walk far enough down one of the many trails, you can find some peace and quiet and enjoy the beautiful forest. One side is the river and one side is the pond

I found Bryozoa. Good quality water sign.

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ This lake is stocked each year with young Walleye that come from a garage based fish hatchery the local forest preserve employee run. Just saw a short on โ€œChicago Tonightโ€.
