Very friendly staff, and the food was fantastic too! The Lamb steak was lovely and tender, and the minted gravy was delicious. Also they didn't skimp on the portion size for the 'small' haloumi salad, and it was also great! Would definitely recommend 😊

The Bear Cross Called in by chance today. Quick service and good atmosphere. Despite being very busy (lucky to get a table) the service was great and the food tasty. Thanks, we will be back. Julian & Amanda

Really impressed. The menu was varied and catered well for vegetarians (not just the same couple of options there are everywhere else) they also had separate vegan and gluten free menus. We really liked the atmosphere and the feel of the place. It was a busy Friday but we weren't rushed at all (we thought they might want our table) and were able have a lovely, leisurely dinner. Impressed with the dessert options too - we both had meringue: one was coffee and one was ginger. Definitely be coming back as it's in a good location too.

Visited on Friday and had an absolute blast of a time. The venue is very clean, décor is great and ample space to move about and enjoy your meal without having another table on your lap. Food was amazing, good portions and not a massive wait from ordering to receiving. Staff are also super friendly and attentive making sure your whole experience is going well. Will definitely visit again, real good venue!

I stumbled upon this restaurant driving to Cornwall. While booked on Sunday, we told the owner we were visiting from the states and she so kindly found us a table after a cancellation. Let me say, if you are gluten free, this is a MUST visit no matter where you are in England. This restaurant is probably my favorite gluten free restaurant to date, with English food. Great GLUTEN FREE Sunday Roast. You must try the desserts, they are exceptional. I hope to visit again one day!!!

Great experience. Felt very welcome in very nice surroundings. Food was amazing. Be warned though. You need a big appetite to get through the roasts. Nice big portions. If we are in bournemouth again we will definitely visit. Highly recommended for good food and casual friendly atmosphere

Only went in for a Guinness ended up having 3! Good quality Guinness and comfortable surroundings. More of a restaurant than a pub, but there are two sofas to chill

Had a delicious lunch at the Bear Cross yesterday with my husband and young son. We didn't think we would need to book on a tuesday lunchtime but we were wrong....it was wonderfully busy. The lovely lady who greeted us made a table specifically to accommodate us. The atmosphere was lovely, the menu was full of yummy choices and all reasonably priced. They also provide the option of smaller appetite plates which is fabulous. The staff were wonderful. Overall a delightful meal, we will be back next time we are in the area, we can't wait.

The food was 1st class. We had a really fussy eater with us and they couldn't do anymore to accommodate her. All staff were wearing masks and tables were spaced well so felt very safe. Five star for the food and service and atmosphere. Best meal we have had at a restaurant for a long time and a reasonable price.

We eat here a few times a year because they have a great menu that caters for the needs of the family. (Vegan, gluten free and vegetarian). The staff are always friendly and polite. Most of all the food tastes great.

We love this restaurant, the service is always excellent, and food good and value for money. We had the Christmas menu, and although good, wasn't great. A mark lost because the main course, while good, could and should have been great. Roast potatoes were soft, tasty but no crunch at all. And for us one pig in blanket was stingy. And lastly, the veg was delicious, wonderfully cooked. However, we didn't really enjoy mange tout, and chunks of Sweden as the choice of veg for a traditional Christmas roast. So no horror story, just not quite to our taste this time.

The food is very good, and the vegetables are all hot and do not show signs of being cooked by Chef Mike! My only real complaint is that the roast potatoes though nice?, have been left under heat and that you are unable to cut into them. Also I had the pork and the crackling is a tooth breaker!

Lovely atmosphere, friendly service and good food. I especially liked that the menu offered "Mains" and the same but a slightly smaller version called "Light bites" which was perfect for lunch. I would definitely recommend.

Visited here for a family meal and have a fabulous meal. I had the peppercorn pork and ginger meringue. The food was very tasty and the service was great. It's a really good idea that most of the main courses can be ordered as a large or small portion. I found the restaurant itself a bit bare and cold.

Very busy pub that is clearly very popular, especially on a Sunday lunchtime! Wide menu choice, so having the Sunday roast beef was the most obvious way to go. The portions were good, for both the mains and the sides. A very pleasant meal, the food was good, but wouldn't describe it as a gastro pub experience. It certainly was not a bad experience and the staff were lovely. A solid 4/5 and very good value for money overall.

Had a really fab Sunday roast here with a group of friends. The food was cooked perfectly and all of us were full. They have a great system for large groups so no need to worry about working out bills. Service was excellent. Really they should have only hit 4.5 stars because there was no cheesecake dessert option but as the coffee merengue was soooo lovely I’ve met them off ! Only one observation to note - it’s gets ridiculously warm in there so make sure you wear layers so you can peel them off !

Went to The Bear Cross by chance. Looking for a place to treat my 8 years old son with healthy lunch/dinner. Very flexible menu regarding the portion size. I guess It's an excellent place to come and enjoy tasty and affordable lunch with your little ones. Cosy and friendly atmosphere. We will come back very soon. For sure.

Great restaurant, amazing choice of gluten-free and vegetarian options and you can choose to opt for smaller portions of many of the main courses. Very friendly and good value in my opinion.

Much nicer inside than out. Good menue especially for lunch ,as you can have small portions of mains. Although having said that, my husband said his Lamb shank was very small. The staff were polite and accommodating. 1 small beer 3 soft drinks 2 soups . 4 mains. 2 cups of Tea. The bill was just over £90. So not a cheap lunch.

Clean, bright pub. Very polite and helpful staff. Nice menu and good food. No stools for sitting at bar. More like a restaurant than a pub. Area to take your dog into. Outdoor seating area although on a busy noisy roundabout. Good parking spaces.

Staff could not do enough & the food was great & hot. My wife who is Gluten Free, felt so relaxed with the choices she had & the food she had. It makes a real difference to not have to worry about being gluten free. Thank you The Bear Cross

Enjoyed Morning coffee & cake at a pub with above average food. Excellent selection of fresh cake at reasonable prices. Good, friendly service & perfect meeting place for a catch up with a friend. The convenient parking is especially easy for those who have restricted mobility. Can highly recommend!
