Expecting a welcoming entrance to view this historical site and have a drink, we were stopped by the doorman saying we needed a reservation and invited us to the coffee shop with the entrance through the side of the hotel. He gave us a card with QR codes to make our reservation to the restaurant or bar inside the hotel. We did so and when we went in, it was empty......Why not let us in and offer a more welcoming process???? We asked if we could walk through the hotel and see their installations, and was told that I had to call and make an appointment....arrrghhhh Just lost a customer for a bigger event...

I have been expected the opening of the hotel for months..today I stoped at the cafeteria next to the hotel, however I was disappointed.. cappuccino noting special and served in a disposable cup, for a 5 usd coffee I was just expected a better presentation. I tried to walked in into the lobby and the people from cafeteria told me that only guest staying at the hotel were Allowed to enter.. looks to be a beautiful Place, however is in details and customer Focus where the hotels and restaurants in Panama neglects.. hope I can change My point or view in a next visit…

Extremely disappointing. We have been following the remodeling process and awaited the opening with high expectations. December came around and we saw some activity inside so we went to the lobby. At that time, the door people were extremely nice and told us they were not opened yet. This week we went again to the lobby but this time the man at the door was not nice at all. He did not let us go inside to explore the hotel. He kept on saying " Without a reservation, you do not get in." I do not understand why one need a reservation to see the public areas of a hotel. The man made us feel discriminated. Everyone in our group got so disappointed we lost all interest in the hotel. We will not recommend it to our friends when they como to visit . We will recommend La Compañía because we are always welcome there.

This hotel is up there with the best in the world. It has the elegance and service of a Hotel Hermitage in Monaco. Francisco was incredibly kind and made our first year anniversary unforgettable. The people who work here make it their priority to make you feel comfortable and special. The room we had was immaculate. The café, three restaurants, and poolside bar were unique and beautifully designed. The hotel oozed with a mystical romance on the edge of the Pacific. The waves crash underneath you, and a palpable, humid tropical breeze refreshes and invigorates you. And when you’re a little warm, put on your flip flops and swimsuit and try a passionfruit mojito at the poolside bar—it is divine. We will certainly return.

Everything about this hotel was magnificent. The wonderful experience started from when we arrived at the hotel. The service to unload our car was immediate, upon entering the hotel there is a table of gorgeous roses and orchids, and check-in was very quick and smooth. The entire hotel is impeccably clean and extremely well maintained. (Even though the hotel is only 9 months old we already saw people doing touch ups to combat the effects of being right on the ocean). We booked a “Magnifique King Ocean Front with Balcony” room and it was beautiful. It was huge and well decorated, including a lounging sofa and chair. The bed was firm and comfortable, and the pillows were soft and comfy. The bathroom was also huge – with two sinks and a large vanity and a separate shower that had terrific water pressure. The closet was also quite large as was the desk space, and there was plenty of room to store suitcases out of the way. There were double doors that opened to a small balcony that had a wonderful view of both the city and parts of Casco Viejo. There were also some nice touches in the room. Supplies to make a French press coffee are included. I was a bit skeptical because I’m not a French press fan, but I gave it a try and was impressed. The coffee is a special Sofitel blend and it is pre-measured. They provided instructions regarding the amount of water, temperature and time to brew the coffee – it was excellent. (They also provided a special kettle to heat the water to the exact temperature specified). There was also a booklet that provided an informative, well written history of the hotel. We dined and had cocktails at a number of different venues at the hotel; they were all excellent. We had cocktails at the speakeasy – which were delicious. I had the Diabla – which was presented in a smoking box and came with a tarot card. The speakeasy had a lovely outdoor area that was a bit more quiet than the inside. We also had drinks at Mayda (the lobby bar) and these were unique and tasty as well. I enjoyed a champagne and maracuya drink (with the passion fruit juice made in-house) and my husband ordered a bananatini (made with rum and banana flavors); his drink was served with marinated banana peels as a garnish which were also made in-house. At the pool, he also ordered another delightful rum drink. Café Vera is an excellent coffee shop on its own – with perfectly brewed espresso (neither bitter nor sour). We also tasted a vegetable empanada and croissant with smoked salmon – each a satisfying, flavorful snack. The empanada pastry was flaky and the croissant was delicately light with crispy layers – just like those at breakfast. Our room included breakfast – which was also fabulous. We preferred to eat outside in the courtyard under huge umbrellas with lots of greenery around us instead of inside the restaurant; it was a picturesque environment. There were many selections to choose from (see menus) and the portions were quite large. Also included were a large fruit plate, hot drinks, a juice, and pastries and breads (e.g. croissant, pan au chocolate, pan au raisin, carrot bread, banana bread, etc). All the pastries and breads were in mini sizes which enabled us to try all of them 😊. The star meal for us was dinner at Caleta – which was outstanding. (Separate review on Google too). The workout room was well equipped (rowing machine, treadmills, a variety of weights – freestanding and machines – jump ropes, bosu balls, etc.). The pool area was also well designed; we especially liked the lounge chairs and tables sitting just inside the pool and partially submerged. The service was consistently outstanding everywhere. Everyone was attentive but not overwhelming. People went out of their way to open doors, answer questions or provide whatever you needed. And the General Manager of the hotel, David, seemed like he was present all the time – in later in evening and early in the morning. He went out of his way to engage with his guests and his care for their experience was evident.

The hotel boasts an ideal location in the heart of the old town, exuding a captivating charm from its 20-year history. The staff are exceptionally kind and attentive, proficient in both English and Spanish. The quality of the food and drinks was top-notch. The pool was fantastic, and our room with a sea view was a dream. We spent 17 delightful days here and didn’t regret a single one. A special thanks to Iveth. It felt like a second home.

Where James Bond stays when he is in Panama. She’s a beauty and you will fall in love at first sight. The Parisian design, the unparalleled service, the location and the food will steal your heart. The speakeasy bar is the coolest design element I have ever seen. This hotel is worthy of a James Bond movie. Six stars.

This hotel was magnificent. As soon as we were greeted at the door, we were greeted with multiple service representative and a welcome beverage. The staff knew our names by the first night. We enjoyed the included breakfast. The servers were polite and attentive. We also got a free upgrade in the hotel. The room on the third floor was very spacious, particularly the bathroom. The concierge service had very good recommendations. They also told us where to avoid during the protests that were going on. We also appreciated the English spoken. We know that we are in their country, so to have that skill was very nice. My two complaints are small - First, the drainage in the shower was poor. The water would pool up quickly. The second relates to the bathroom. I'd prefer a solid door instead of a slated door. Overall, we loved our stay and will remember it for years to come!

I cannot recommend this enough. Great rooms and the beds are awesome. The hotel is beautiful. Rooftop bar has a great view of downtown and the ocean. Food is excellent. And the staff to guest ratio is huge. I checked other nice hotels while in Casco Viajas. This is the best.

Let me start by saying that there are only 5 Sofitel Legends in the world so it was an extreme privilege to experience Sofitel Casco Viejo, Panama. The hotel had JUST opened its doors in December so we were extremely fortunate to be a part of its soft opening. The decor and architecture combines Panamanian spirit with the age old French chic and sophistication; from the hardwood details, white washed walls and mosaic tiles. You almost forget that you’re not on the French Riviera or Valencia in some instances. My husband and I stayed in one of their suites (corner king with an L shaped balcony with amazing views) l, we had the privilege of having a team of butlers at our disposal who took care of any and every single concern you can imagine; from arranging turn down service, to reserving restaurants. The entire team was extremely attentive and very informative. They welcomed any feedback we had on our experience in the area and the hotel amenities and services. Eric was the head butler and he was such a joy to greet in the lobby every day. His colleagues, Kenny, Francisco and Emilio were equally helpful and absolutely friendly. One night we wanted dinner in the room and they set up a lovely little romantic dinner on our bedroom balcony. Are your bags packed yet? Because they should be. We had dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, Caleta, twice. It’s the same room that breakfast is served in. The food was great. The dinner menu is small and has just enough options that you don’t feel overwhelmed. There is an outside patio that serves lunches and breakfasts as well. It overlooks the pool and has a great view. I can not say enough about the view and the atmosphere at the hotel. Everyone is always attentive and rushing over at your every beck and call. The cocktails from the lobby bar are excellent. And don’t worry, if there’s something you want and it’s not on the menu, they will do their best to make it. My husband wanted a Tom Collins and Lorenzo rolled up his sleeves and made a delicious one. Ricardo, another mixologist, happily made me my very fist martini and also shared amazing stories about the various islands of Panama. The concierge services are great. We had the pleasure of getting to know Zuyimara on our stay. She shared so much history about Panama with us. Things we didn’t know and were happy to learn. The only complaint I have towards her is that her planning/organizing wasn’t that great as she made a little mistake when planning an excursion for my husband and me. But overall she was wonderful. We didn’t get to interact with the other concierges. All of their facilities were not yet open but by some luck of the universe, the spa opened the very day that we were scheduled to leave. We were able to book a couples massage and be their very first clients. The facilities were amazing. Carolina and Ana were our message therapists and they were absolutely amazing. There is also a salon (not open at the time), a tea room (which we used) and a plunge pool (not open yet). There is still a rooftop bar and a speakeasy that is scheduled to open in March. That is supposed to be their official opening. Okay, I’m at the end now. Honestly this was the most amazing experience. The facilities are incredible. The level of professionalism and hospitality shown by every single person we interacted with at the hotel added to the magic of our stay. I wish I could describe every single moment but I must leave something to be desired. I hope that by now your tickets are booked and your bags are packed because I 100% recommend Sofitel Legend Casco Viejo as your destination hotel. I cannot wait to revisit

Brilliant service all and all. Hospitable and friendly from the moment you walk in. Rooms are perfect, hotel has an amazing architecture and great location! Breakfast had the local Panamanian option however because it is ala carte, if you want any extras you'd have to pay extra $6 for it (like if you want to add bacon or sausages). Bit annoying/disappointing coming from a high end hotel. Regardless, highly recommend this hotel for its location and service.

We absolutely loved our time at this beautiful resort. The view from every inch of the hotel is impeccable, the staff were exceptional and the experience was truly one of a kind. Francisco was the agent that checked us in, he was very knowledgeable and friendly. I forgot the bellman, but he too, was a gem and did a great job moving us from the lobby to the room, where he gave a superb overview of the room and features.

This was my fiance and I's first time in Panama and we wanted a luxurious hotel as a gift to ourselves. We recently had a baby and wanted a beautiful getaway and Sofitel Legend gave us that. The hotel, the service, and the people in general were just spectacular. I would recommend this hotel, keep in mind it's more on the high end but definitely worth it.

I am a frequent visitor to Casco Viejo. I was watching the transformation of this historical part of Panama City including the renovation of of Sofitel site. As soon as I realized the completion of the project it was no brainer to stay there I must say I was thoroughly impressed with the Interior architectural details. The hard work and thoughtfulness to recreate the grandeur in the French style is very impressive.

This hotel is located in the Casco Antiguo of Panamá. The building has been beautifully modernized and restored. It was the hime of the old Club Union, and it was also a place where the old military in Panamá used to have their meetings. It was abandoned for several decades. Now, it is one of the most exclusive areas and hotels in Panamá. Great for events, weddings, and birthdays. Food and service are excellent.

I grew up in this bldg when it was the old Union Club. Was so looking forward to visiting its rooftop AMMI which I heard had nice views of the city. I am sorry to say it was not worth the long awaited for time slot for the reservation. The sitting area is very tight. The high bar stools are the MOST UNCOMFORTABLE thing you ever sat in. The food was all tasteless which surprised me from top French chain hotel. The prawn ceviche, the octopus croquetas and pizza were very very poor. And to top it off, heavy ALL latin SALSA music to accompany the atmosphere. I have never felt so bad on an outing, dead serious. So sorry had to go like this. I expected a much more refined experience.

Best hotel in town, location is great walking distance to everything inside the Casco Viejo shop rest etc. food and service very good , it's a new hotel, so, the facilities are very modern and with very nice details on deco an ambiance all over the place, very good taste, the rooftop with live music was great and it has one of the best view of the ocean and the old city. If you are in panamá this is definitely the place that you have to.

Please be informed; do NOT bring any guests to the hotel. I came to the hotel together with my sister as my parents were staying there. We were charged €53 dollars each as we were not staying there. Additionally, we previously posted about this and negative comments seem to be removed on purpose.. Such a shame for such a nice hotel.

Let me start by saying this hotel is, without a doubt, truly perfect in every way. The hotel is beautiful. The food was wonderful. The room was spacious and very clean. The bed was amazing. We were treated extremely well by all staff members. Everyone at this hotel is so nice. The general manager, Mr. David Kianni, was always very present and very friendly. I became extremely ill two days before our departure. So ill, in fact, that I needed medical attention. A doctor actually came to my bedside at the hotel. I was given an injection for nausea and a list of medications with instructions. I don’t speak Spanish so it was very helpful that the doctor does. I was in bed for the next few days, had to cancel my trip home, extend my hotel stay and change my flights. Every staff member we encountered during our stay asked about me when they found out I was sick. They all showed a genuine concern for me and my wellbeing. They brought me teas, changed my bedsheets twice and brought me anything I needed to make me more comfortable in an otherwise horrible situation. I could not have asked for better care, even in the US. It takes over two weeks to be seen by a doctor in the US unless you go to the emergency room. Specific staff members who stood out and cared for us during our stay: Kennyitze, Emilio, Jorge - Security, Jorge - Caleta, Juan Carlos, Julio, Aimee, Junior, Maryin, Joel, Jerry - In-room dining, Carolina in the spa and Zsu, the concierge. My apologies if I accidentally missed anyone but suffice it to say you cannot get bad service here. Internet was perfect, pool was very nice, spa was amazing, and television, when I was stuck in the room, had plenty of interesting choices. They even have ChromeCast which allows you to use your video services like Netflix to stream right to their TVs. This was a wonderful experience for us and we highly recommend Sofitel Legend Casco Viejo. We can’t wait to return some day soon. The best, hard-working staff is what made our stay. I felt like we were with family.

This was my first time staying at Sofitel, and it was absolutely perfect. My room was luxurious and clean, every fine touch was included. I had the opportunity to experience the restaurants and pool. Certainly not disappointed, everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. I look forward to staying with Sofitel again!

This place was rebuilt based on people’s memories of the original building from a hundred years ago. There was no official records of the interior. I love the history of this place and the welcoming ambiance. Also if you talk to the mixologist Leandro at the bar, he will make you a special drink off the menu!! Enjoy a piece of Panama history!

Gosh. This hotel ooozzzes exclusivity and I should know as I’m English. We were just casing the joint for a return trip next year and wheedled our way past the guard- staff. Tip. Look tall , hold nose high , walk purposefully. Wash. Paused for coffee at Vera. Nice espresso. And the coffee cups. Cardboard. But good quality cardboard. Endeavour to Persevere team.
