(Translated by Google) This museum is dedicated to the origins and foundation of Panama City. It is located in a new building near the Tower, the archaeological site has internal transport to facilitate the transfer of visitors within it. As for its collection, it has pieces obtained in the archaeological zone itself, divided into several exhibition rooms. It is a very pleasant environment, where you will learn how the first settlements were and how the first city of Panama developed. It has elevator facilities, a souvenir shop, toilets and a drink and snack vending machine.

Exceptional museum at the far end of the ruins of the original Panama City. We spent maybe 45 minutes outside (not enough) and an hour inside (maybe enough, maybe not), and came away totally dazzled. This really is a world class museum, fully bi-lingual Spanish/English, filled with history, culture, and art. Did you know that there was a woman crucified on a cross, who became Santa Librada? Or why the pirate Henry Morgan was knighted, and called Sir Henry Morgan? Try to imagine a three story deep water reservoir that held 124,000 liters of water; you can walk down into this one. We did a lot of cool stuff in Panama, and this was one of the best.

The Plaza Mayor Museum in Panama City offers a collection of interesting archaeological and ethnographic artifacts for travelers and photographers to explore. Exhibits show artifacts from the pre-Columbian, colonial and Republican eras. Worth visiting for its architecture alone, the building contains a rotunda with an ornate round cornice and a vaulted ceiling. The central courtyard houses replicas of pre-Columbian sculptures such as the Quiche figure. Permanent galleries illustrate traditional Panamanian culture, including ceramics, wood and metalwork, as well as textiles and cultural traditions. There's something for everyone here, from interesting history and art to a gift shop and restaurants.
