The museum is working wonderful for the history. The best location for pic is the 4th floor of the building. Uber is working here

If you have a bucket list of historical sites this is a must see! Had a 12 hour layover in the city so decided to make the trek to the canal and was so glad I did! It's an incredible piece of engineering and world history. After the museum closes the bar/restaurant on the top floor opens. It's a great place to grab a drink and watch the ships go through the locks. Highly recommend!

It's a 15 dollar entry! For what? Visiting a lock. Oh that's a nope! Plus the staff is heavily harsh! If you are interested in the Panama canal there's a museum of it in Casco Viejo. 10 dollar that's really worth it.

The entire experience or offering is essentially an IMAX theatre with a 45min movie narrated by Morgan Freeman which is very interesting and well made. However, there's a schedule to when it is shown and when I went there were no ships in the locks so that was the only thing to do. No other tours or things to see.

truly a wonderful experience to see the passage of a ship in the canal. the passage is explained very well by a speaker until the end of the passage between the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean. Very nice one!!!!

Was able to view the lock system of the Panama Canal while a cruise ship was entering. As well, watched the 3D documentary (narrated by Morgan Freeman) of the history and creation of the Panama Canal. Tickets were required to enter the museum area of the lock and also to have the best view. The movie was a separate fee.

Imax 3d put you in a deep sleep. That's the high light of the visit. Waiting for a ship to appear at the gate, is worst than waiting for paint to dry. Unless you've 5 hours to spend, I would not recommend this.

The museum is closed. No one knows why. Views of the locks are great but you must get there early to see a ship lock through. Or later in the day. it was hot!

Great experience. Marvel at the engineering feat that is the locks of the Panama Canal linking up to the Pacific Ocean. The IMAX film at the start is worth seeing

Absolutely impressed with this place. It is to close of Panama City and the experience only take up to 2 to 3 hours, including the movie about its history. Please be sure about Operation hours because it is open all day long, but the ships pass through the locks in specific hours (Check the Panama Canal website).

Great place to see the Panama canal. The tickets cost about $17 for foreign adults, the information on the website is useful but it was still hard for us to plan the time. We decided to go in the morning to be sure and arrived at about 8:30 am; an employee told us that the last ship was going through so we rushed up and we saw one big ship in the distance and thought that we were too late; however, 10 minutes later there was another ship (the last one) that went through letting us see how the canal works. The process is pretty slow, so watching the movie (IMAX price included in the ticket) really helped us understand how it works better. I recommend going to Miraflores in the morning and see how the ships go from the Pacific to the Atlantic ocean and then going to Ancon hill to be on the top in the afternoon to see how ships go in the opposite direction.

The Panama Canal reaches the level of the Pacific Ocean beyond the Miraflores Locks near Panama City. Construction of the canal cost the U.S. government approximately $375,000,000. The first self-propelled ship passed through on January 7, 1914. The lower lock gates of the Miraflores Locks are the highest on the Panama Canal due to the extreme variation of Pacific tides.

This place is very impressive and well maintained, but be aware that there are some areas that are currently closed for remodeling including the museum and the third floor balcony. I think they should limit the number of entrance at least until they open the entire area. We visited this place on a Sunday (Aug 2023) with a kid, I would not recommend so, maybe weekdays would be a better option

Need to open the higher levels for viewing. Impossible to see the ships and the whole process for ground level. Viewing areas that were ideal for viewing were closed to the public. The introductory film was interesting and well done. I learned some new information. The facilities were very nice and well laid out.

Incredible engineering went into the construction of the lock system of the Panama Canal. Our ship scrubbed the side because we had a sleeping 'mule' as our guide!

Good place to see how the canal works. Pricey for visitors

Visited to see the lock gates working for the south end of the Pamana Canal. The viewing area was limited to two floors with several hundred people crammed in. Information on how the gates/canal work was very limited as the IMAX theatre was closed. There were toilets but these weren't signed and tricky to find. Overall, it wasn't really worth the visit other than to say you've been there.

Great engineering marvel. You have to do it once in your life!

Great place to see the large canal locks. It is truly amazing how the ships can pass through the tightest of spaces. Entry fee was $10 just to see the locks. The IMAX and indoor exhibits were closed. Outdoor exhibits provided canal history and information.

REEAAAALLLYY crowded when we visited on the 15th. There are many place to watch the canal in action but usually u have people out of their seats at the railing covering the entire view... Guides didn't seem to care and left people be. Place was very clean and was a very nice experience over all. I also wished they had some sort of free wifi there but you can survive without it

Nice stop for an afternoon drink when it's quiet. I imagine it's pretty hopping at night. The drinksnwere reasonable and the food menu looked reasonable as well. You'll have to judge for yourself.

Loved seeing and learning about the history of the Panama Canal that I learned about in school. How cool to actually be there and watch a ship go through.

Very interesting! Got to see a ship going through the locks which was pretty neat. Unfortunately you could not tour the museum due to Covid at this time but a brief tour of the museum was given.

Interesting museum and views of the Miraflores locks from the 4th floor Introductory movie gives you a quick insight into the history of the construction of the canal and helps you realise the amazing feat of engineering that it represents. Entry fee as of may 2018 15 USD/PAB. Open from 8am to 6pm
