We were in Panama for a week, but stayed at Royal Decameron for four days and three nights. This was a nice resort with a lot of pros, but some cons as well. Pros: - the pools were nice, including the waters slides. But one out of the three slides were closed. Other reviews said the slides were fast, but they weren’t. - the lines for drinks wasn’t bad. Someone asked us what we wanted right away, even with the crowd of people around. - staff was friendly, and tried to communicate in English the best they could. I had a translation app, so I would do my best to communicate with them in their language. - security was around, both around the resort and on the beach. Making me feel safe. - the hotel itself was your average hotel room. We did go a day ahead of our reservation and was told we had to change rooms the next day, but thankful they told us to stay. We had an ocean view room. - nice bathroom Cons: - I’ve never seen a more unorganized check in process in my life. First off, there was no where to park when we got there. Then, we had to walk up to a man standing at a table, in which he just told us to go into a room with a number. When we go into the room, I felt as if I was going to watch a presentation. There were four desks in the front with a ton of chairs out. Because we didn’t speak much Spanish, we didn’t understand what was going on. But, when our number was called, the employee was very nice, explained to us the amenities, our room and more. It was an awful way to check in though. - the buffets were limited. Nothing that was too excited to eat. - it was difficult to communicate if you don’t speak Spanish. I’m not faulting the staff at all, but I think it’s important for anyone reading this to get the basics of Spanish down before you go. - the patio door was so loud when you tried to close it. - lack of activities. - we were told upon check in that reservations were needed for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but they definitely weren’t. - warning, if you chose to do a ocean view be prepared for it to be loud. - every night we were there we got towels delivered to us at 10pm. I didn’t understand why it couldn’t be earlier, at that point I was trying to go to sleep. - although the bathroom is nice, the window doesn’t shut. A gecko even go in one night and we worked tirelessly to get it out. We did, without harming it. - the birds in the palm trees were so loud at night and at 5am! The resort is nice, with music, iguanas all around, but it didn’t exceed my expectations. That’s why I took a star off.

If your traveling with family definitely NOT recommended... and try to check out the weather before booking because their events are outdoor and will be canceled, you'll be paying to stay in a small room and possibly stuffing your face. Your better off with a resort that has covered places where you can still enjoy your stay. Also, if your older or have health issues "DO NOT GO" their set up is not for you due to the hills and distance to get to a restaurant, beach etc.. also, the food is disgusting they don't have much selection for kids at all and last but not least their food is loaded with salt and sugar. You can take my honest opinion or experience it on your own..... If there are other options I guess they pick and choose who to share the information with. It was my first time going and would definitely be my last. And further more people spend their hard earned money not to just eat. Have some back up plan so your guest can still enjoy themselves on bad weather days.

The rooms need lots of upgrade. Very hard to get up the stairs for a older person with luggage. No welcome drink while we waited for check in for 2 hours. No A.c in lobby 32°. The shower curtain was terrible. I could go on. No hot water. If you're a foreigner like myself you might want to reconsidered this hotel. Air conditioner wasn't cooling the room. The steak house isn't great the meat is tough. No elevator. You Have to walk up and down a hill if your staying on block 41. No help to bring your luggage to room. The room wasn't clean thoroughly condom rap behind dresser. Not a good experience. They had a full hotel so I didn't get a cleaner room. The beach towels are old. The linens napkin is so old. They give you a metal key. It's not a friendly place no one smile.

The trip started off bad. Check in was a big issue. The managers Melvin and Natalie were a disaster.they don't know what kava or champagne is aswell. I would NOT stay at any Decameron location again. First and last. My party of 8 all felt the same.

❤🇵🇦We just returned from a 5 night stay with Royal Decameron. We were a little nervous bc our Spanish is not great...but we learned a lot and didnt seem to miss a beat. I really enjoyed and appreciated all the staff, as they were all pleasant and helpful. **Shout out to Calvin** our favorite bartender, as he especially made us feel as we were special. He always greeted us by name and patient with our terrible Spanish attempts. Definitely bring a travel cup/straw with you...much easier. -Pools and beach were clean and enjoyable. -WI-FI was great. I read other reviews that you needed to be in lobby for it to work, but this was not the case. -Our room was a Garden View king, and very big. We did walk up and down the hill a lot, but I have zero complaints on that. Housekeeping was top notch. We read earlier about the face cloth, so we just packed travel loofas and face cloths. -The food was great, no complaints there either. They really work hard with COVID protocols, keeping everything clean. Using the app to book dinner reservations was super easy! -The show was nice. I didnt understand a word the host said, but he definitely kept us excited and entertained. -The lobby staff was super helpful with organizing our departure Covid test, I really appreciated this. -Flying into PTY is a 2 hour ride, so I do highly recommend booking shuttle services. We look forward to bringing more family with us!🇵🇦❤

We are here now. Don't waste your money on the upgrade to all inclusive plus. No hot water in the shower. No welcome basket in the room. Can't even get a bottle of wine to bring up to the room. I had read the reviews before we booked so I knew there would be steps to climb. I just didn't know there would be 100 of them. There's no entertainment at the "plus" pool. Not even any music. You have to go to the other section for that. The lounges in the "plus" section were very old while the ones in the other section were new. The infinity pool in the "plus section was closed more days than it was open as was the buffet in the "plus" section. I could go on but just saying. Go somewhere else.

The beach was nice, the facilities adequate and the service decent. However the "rules police" were overboard and and intrusive. And to clarify, we are all in our 50's and we were NOT out of line in any way. We had several conversations with "management" and they were NOT very nice. At my age I don't take condescending instruction very well. We were with another family and they actually had conversations that led to a manager calling their boss in an effort to have them removed. I was standing right there. Totally uncalled for. We will not be going back.

If this is your first vacation ever, I highly recommend this place. However if you have any standards or level of self-respect, avoid this place like The Plague. It is garbage. There is nothing about Decameron that is resort-like other than its size. There's no organization or structure. Trying to get a drink at the bar is similar to being a cow in a cattle herd. Literally. Be prepared to wait 20 minutes for a drink at the bar where there is no seating provided. We attempted to move a table from the beach to bar area and were scolded despite other patrons previously having done the same. The poolside bar area was a wide open space where guests were forced to stand around at the bar with no options to sit. No entertainment for adults except for You Tube karaoke (seriously!). On a positive note, staff is conscientious of Covid-19 protocol enforcement. Overall, this place is a dump. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Five stars on food and drinks. Four in crowd control. I stayed four days. The first two was the most beautiful experience. The last two nights, it got overcrowded. The pool was out of control people were drinking in the water kids were jumping from the high chairs to the pool. And about 25 camping around the bar, the crew lost control. And this is during the pandemic and will not go during total capacity. Sorry

The reception staff were rude and upped the price by another 800 dollars after we had booked and paid online and traveled in heavy traffic for 10 hours. The best staff there worked in the restaurants. Very friendly and helpful. The swimming pools were good but they close the slides in the middle of the day rather than rotate lifeguards. All in all, would I go back ......... No I would rather pop hemorrhoids for free. Overall 1 out of 10 And that's generous

We stayed from January 5th till January 12th. From reading some of the bad reviews I was a little bit sceptical as I booked this 4 months in advance. For family at 4 payed less then 5k ( coming from Toronto) Hotel is very old and rooms are outdated but honestly I didn't care. Weather was 31 degrees and the beach was just outstanding 👌 We usually travel to Cuba, Dominican and Mexico so at first I was disappointed for a dark beach and not an Navy blue Ocean but let me tell you how wrong I was. The Ocean was come and warm. For family's is perfect as 5meters behind the beach you have pools with water slides. The food was Amazing, lot's of variety of meat, fish and fantastic saldas. You need to make reservations every second day for ala carte and you can go there every day. All restaurants where really good. My favorite Catch of the day and Steak house. Breakfast are delicious so is launches at the main buffet. Staff are Very nice and helpful. Panama is beautiful so I recommend to buy a day to go and see the canal. So far for the first time I was at the beach from 9am till 5pm. It is warm, beautiful and a perfect paradise to escape our Canadian winter. I hope this helps.

The overall experience is good. The rooms are a bit outdated regarding infrastructure: metal keys, faulty air conditioning, no irons, old TV, squeaky bed, but they're still fairly good, cozy and comfortable. The food is good and the offer of options is decent for all tastes. The open bar is pretty good and generous, cocktails are good and bartenders are very nice and they please you with anything you want. The check in process and in general all administrative processes are painfully slow and again, outdated. Be prepared for that. They really need to update them and introduce information systems and cutting edge technology to improve the overall experience. The beach is very nice, the water is warm and the sea is very calm most of the time, good for kids. I feel there may be room for more beach seats, they seem insufficient. I've been there twice and it feels like it is getting old, the overall experience is good but I wouldn't go for a third time.

Beds were not made majority of the 7 day trip. Returned from the pool at 6PM to get ready for dinner and the beds were not made. A call to front desk would be made and they say they are sending someone. Returned to the room after dinner and the beds and bathroom were still not made or replenished. Bath towels in the room were not changed. Three people were registered in our room and one or two bath towels were left on many occasions. The washroom bins were not emptied on numerous occasions. Making reservations for dinner could only be made the day of. This dinner reservation service should provide guests with the option to book in advance for their entire stay. The main lobby bar closed too early. There should be a 24 hour bar and snack bar service. The evening entertainment did not have any live bands or local signers and finished too early. There was no coffee maker in the room. The bar fridge was empty. There was no water at times left in the room. No iron in the room. No toothpaste. No face towels. When we called to get towels, it came the next day or very late at night when we were at dinner or were getting ready to go to bed. The service and entertainment should be accommodating to English speaking guests. Royal Decameron is claiming that they are a 4 star resort and are not even making the simplest accommodations for their guests, this should all be at the level of expectation of a 4 star resort. Royal Decameron was more like a 2 star resort with the experience that my family and I had. We were all very disappointed and would not recommended this resort to anyone.

Comment from hotel. "Precise feed-back on the services that we could improve in order to meet your expectations." Feed-back as requested: Upon our arrival at this location, our family encountered numerous issues that significantly impacted our experience. Firstly, we experienced an hour-long delay beyond the check-in time before gaining access to our room. Subsequently, we were dismayed to find that our room was situated a considerable distance away, with no available transportation provided, despite the presence of elderly family members and no assistance offered with our luggage. The condition of our room upon arrival was shocking and unacceptable. There was POOP ALL OVER THE TOILET, the room was untidy, emitting an unpleasant odor, and overall, the room was run down. Disappointed by this discovery, we promptly returned to the check-in desk to report the situation. Unfortunately, the hotel displayed a complete lack of remorse for the distressing conditions our family had encountered. While an alternative room was offered, the prospect of additional wait time was not feasible. Frustrated, we requested a refund to promptly vacate the premises but our plea was met with a denial. Our dissatisfaction extends beyond the initial issues we faced. The overall customer service, including the management, was notably poor. Numerous grievances have been heard, encompassing a decline in food quality, poorly maintained rooms, malfunctioning air conditioning, insufficient accessibility due to a lack of transportation options, unfriendly staff, and a noticeable decrease in available activities compared to previous visits. Regrettably, this once-great location has fallen below acceptable standards. We strongly advise others to save their money and explore alternative accommodations with higher standards. The hotel must address these myriad issues to regain its former reputation.

We had a great vacation at decameron. Rooms could use some updates. Didn't like shifting schedules (different menus, closures) in restaurants. Staff in bars and restaurants were very attentive. Beach and pools are beautiful and always free of debris. I would give it a 9 out of 10 overall

Food was terrible, the only place worth eating at was Cowboy al carte. All the restaurants are open air, you sweat eating breakfast, you sweat eating lunch and you sweat eating dinner. Waited forever to beverages. Waited forever to get transport or bell service for assistance on check out day, had to lug my golf bag and luggage from one end of the resort to the other on check out day.

Nice all inclusive get away. There is an upgrade option no one tells you about.Great views and coffee. Decent drinks. Adult only pools. Rooms are our dated. Need a metal key to enter the Rooms. It is listed as 45 minutes from the airport but with traffic it is easier 2 hours. Plan for 1 day of full travel to and from if visiting. You have to get up daily to get in an actual line to make dinner reservations. (Upgraded option let's you make them through an app)

My wife and I have had the opportunity to watch and enjoy three consecutive shows of the family ballet so far, all different themes but equally professional in quality and beauty. Even more admirable to us was the fact that their execution remained uniform and unaffected by them having to use mask coverings throughout their performances; amazing. We have a couple more nights to stay and are eager to see what they still have in store for us. We also had the pleasure of meeting a couple of performers and the choreographer; all very nice and wonderful people. Samara was our aerobics instructor; very enjoyable and mindful of her students, providing helpful tips to work around individual limitations.

I’ll start with the positives first. The grounds are gorgeous with a beautiful beach. Lots of great pools and even a water slide. Many stairs on grounds, if you have issue with walking be sure to do ocean view. The air conditioning in room worked well. Food at restaurants was good, buffets were okay. The negatives include no place to get coffee before 7 am. Reservations are required for supper including buffet. No way to make them except to get in line in early am. Spent way to much time in line, shouldn’t need to do this for buffet. Was told could do reservations online but never worked for us or any of the others that tried that we spoke to. They definitely need more staff at restaurants, especially buffet, can be sitting for 20 to 30 min before you can get service or order coffee in am. Desserts were not good at all. There is no wait staff around pool, must go wait in line for drinks. Also odd was only given one physical key and told could not get 2. Overall pleasant vacation but some management fixes would make this an awesome resort. Only other thing to mention is you are at least 2 hrs from Panama City where most tours are. If you want to see Canal or Gamboa Rain forest be sure to spend a couple of days in the city before heading down to resort.

Awful service!!! We are here on vacation with a group of 16 ppl. Food is an absolute disaster. Communication seems to be a huge problem. No food choices at all. Some of us are vegetarians and we have no food to eat!!! Cannot book a la Carte’s. They have a stupid rule of booking them on a daily basis. No proper protocols in place. Donot come here! It is a waste of money! Update: the manager at guest services (Melvin) and his staff attended to our needs and did a wonderful job assisting us. Thank you for giving us a better experience

I m not gonna bash this resort, its my 3 rd time here and I am still here for 2 days The rooms are clean and well done . The weather is great beach also chairs and towels every day. My problem is that i find its impossible to get a la carte restaurants because you have to be in line waiting before 7 to be told this restaurant is reserved for a group-of people with lets just say it more cash . But then we are offered the Buffet . The buffet salads bread and deserts are good they are appetizing and plentiful.but the rest is discusting like it was just thrown in the pot ,just eat My friends.dry overcooked and cold with no presentation. The staff is helpful but the language barrier seems to have increased with the years.I bought my tickets in august to spend the holidays here and i paid in full 5 months ahead of my trip but don t undestand why i can’t reserve a meal one day before.I hope this message will help the owners and staff and all the people who are considering coming to Decameron Panama

Far from everything, great location and grounds. Nothing to do there except eat, drink and sleep. The liquor selection is to poor for my taste. Luckily I bought my own Vodka and rum. Too hot to do the beach, which has its beach chairs far from the water. Specialty restaurants have little selection on the menu. They lied about the Discotheque being opened and the night program is booooooorrring. OPEN THE DISCOTHEQUE. Quit being so cheap with the liquor on hand, Terrible stuff.

All excellent all around. The all inclusive plus is absolutely worth it and highly recommended. Staff is very friendly, helpful, and respectful. I would definitely stay here again, and longer if I come to panama again. This has been my fav experience. I am not sure why all these people are leaving negative reviews and what they are expecting. It made me suspicious reading them. This place is great!!

A great way to relax with an all inclusive beach resort! Lots of activities, different cuisines, and nice pools for everyone :) We also did jet-ski, which was really fun, and then at night we went to the show, which are also varied and enjoyable! Been going for 15 years, and wouldn't change it for anything else.

I have been in many all-inclusive resorts, and this place is by far the worst place I've ever been. The staff are incredibly rude, the food is bad, and the rooms are horribly unhygienic with nothing in them. You pay the same price as other all-inclusive hotels, yet you receive terrible accommodations. Don't trust the pictures online, everything is very dirty.

We are not one to write reviews but felt the need to write one to be fair so people who plan to book the Royal Decameron will have to make their own decision based on the reviews they see here. I have stayed at the Royal Decameron two times before and had just an okay experience. Today we are checking out and it will be the last time our family of 12 will ever come back. I thought I would treat everyone to a good time as we were celebrating two birthdays which was yesterday and again today, however the check-in process was less than satisfactory as they has us wait many hours because the rooms were not ready. They had to leniency for us to stay on the proper to make up for lost time. Never again will any of us stay here. Try Dreams Playa as they are much better.

We are currently here on a 7 night stay from the United States. Kathrine who overseas guest services, is outstanding! Very friendly and welcomed us! Has went out of her way to insure, we are having the best time! The restaurants are good and wide variety. We have spent most of our time at the ocean and on all the water toys they offer! We have a 12 and 11 year old who absolutely love it here!

We spent a few extra days here because of protestors. The food is really good at the buffets but not great. The restaurants with reservations were better. The bed was not super comfortable and felt cheap. The rooms were clean and spacious. Drinks were not great. But none of that is why you go here. The view and the vibe of the place is excellent!

All-Inclusive Resort was beautiful. Its almost 2 hours from the airport. The selection of food was good and nice. We never got wash rags, have to ask for iron. They have a select few of water sports and four wheeler tour around the resort. The other excursions are almost 2 hours away. The Staff and all the people we have encountered were extremely nice and polite.

It's okay! Nothing particularly special. Most of the meat options in the buffet were incredibly dry, but they had a nice selection of fruits available. Don't bother with the 'plus' option as it made absolutely no difference in terms of a more secluded pool and restaurant choices. There is a lot of walking to do as the resort is very spread out. The beach is nice and not too busy with some free water craft choices, and some motorized options to rent. The staff was very nice but very limited English, so practice your Spanish before you go!

I went to Decameron with low expectations and boy was I wrong. My expectations were exceeded in all aspects: facilities, food, staff, etc On this occasion that I went I was able to use the early check in option (had to pay for it) but it was worth it. I went with my wife and two toddlers (toddlers free up to 5 years old). The pools (water slides are working again, but be aware are insanely fastl and restaurants are good, with very attentive staff. They even have a new beach side movie theater for kids I'm really hoping to get back and relax at the beach, pool or restaurants. Thanks for the attentions.

Service was outstanding. Everyone was super patient even with us not speaking much Spanish. Pools were nice. Resturants had decent selections, nice heavy pour drinks and great service. Rooms were nice, a little dated but not in any way that impacts your stay.

We usually spend a few days here when we come to Panama for our family reunions. We've always had a good time but this passed visit left most of us disappointed. I'm not sure if it's because Covid has hurt the serví industry here like in many other countries but unfortunately the service overall was not up to the standards we've come to expect from the Decameron.

It had been a long time. The very 1st time I visited this place was all the way back in the early 2000's, when it was brand new; nowadays I can vaguely remember the experience, but I suppose it was good enough then because of the novelty of it. Now, nearly 2 decades after that, I have come back and it has been frankly disappointing in many levels; where to start... The facilities really are in need of some serious renovation, soundproofing the rooms, spotty Wi-Fi, the food and bevereges can definitely be a lot better, seriously understaffed, bad timing for room cleaning, power back-up takes too long to kick in (if they have power back-up at all)... The list could go on...

  • 4/5 Evgenia A. 2 years ago on Google
Overall very good; however, would be good to have better arrangements in the restaurants buffet type. Lines to get food are endless. It takes about 20-30 min to get it and another 20-30 min to serve food.
