So far so good! Had the garlic butter fish fillet with slaw. Cozy place and there's even some tables down on the boardwalk. The bartender had some very cool beats playing in the background. Nothing loud just nice rhythm. Reminded me of that old group "everything but the girl"

Calaloo is an awesome place to chill, grab a bite and a drink. I highly recommend their fish and chips, the portion is generous and delish. Their cocktails are really good and the ambience is great for friends and families.

(Translated by Google) Good place to eat just 2 minutes from the pier. They have Wifi for the clients. They accept Visa and Mastercard, something not so common in the Island of Taboga. The prices are not cheap but the food is EXCELLENT. Very good taste and deliver the food in a few minutes. A prawns with garlic (6 prawns) with patacones, a few chicken fingers with French fries, 3 lemonades and 1 canned cola came out with taxes of $ 42.00. The place is outdoors (without air conditioning) like all the other places in Taboga. The attention was good.

Went to Taboga on a whim while walking around the causeway and it is a great little getaway for the day! We were greeted by Vicky right when we got off the boat and she had a big smile inviting us to Calaloo with a drink coupon. We wanted to get to the top of the island for the view and she quickly hooked us up with a local I believe his name was JR. After heading to the top and checking out the view we stopped in to Calaloo for a quick lunch. The food was fresh, the view lovely and Vicky popped in with owner and we had a real hoot!! We wanted to hang out and have MANY drinks but a nasty storm popped up. We dashed out left with a great memory! Ceviche on point, Fish excellent..has to be, the friggin fisherman launch their boat right in front of the joint. Get a pineapple duro if you see duros advertised a few doors down for dessert!! Vicky come get your hair did in WPB, FL!!

Our experience in the restaurant was exceptional, good music, family atmosphere and great service. We ordered fish and chips, the mama bbq , shrimps, an order of fish fillet, sangria and homemade brownie, everything was excellent. We’ll be back, I recommend it 100%

We were welcomed by the owner Guido and had a very interesting chat while browsing the menu - we also received some nice suggestions about what to order. We had Ceviche, the fish burger and the king prawn platter - everything was delicious and well presented. We enjoyed the view over the sea and although the tables were next to the road it is still very nice. Also, enjoyed the music selection that we could hear in background. I would recommend this place, a little off the main area of the island. 5 stars well deserved. Thank you Guido and hope to comeback soon to try different dishes.

We didn’t have a great experience but the owner seems caring and like they run a good place, “Off-days” happens at even the best restaurants, so we’ll definitely try the place again when we come back. The feedback and consensus on the island from locals is that Calaloo is “the place”. My Original review is below: Food was caloric that’s about it. I wouldn’t describe it as good, fish tacos were overly sweet, while the tortillas got soggy very quickly, the fries were bizarrely crispy while also unpleasantly soft. The pizza looked like something from a lean cuisine. As to why we didn’t send our food back as we sat near the beach, which made getting our waiters attention awkward, combined with our desired choices of ragout and ceviche being “out”, we just made the best of it.

Food & service was great. We got into Taboga and spent a lot of time at this restaurant for its view of the beach, wonderful food & helpful staff. I would highly recommend the fish tacos and patacones, both were great. My husband had the fish fillet and loved it. Drink wise we would recommend the taboga loca if you want a cocktail, though you could never go wrong with an ice cold Panamá beer. It’s worth noting that one of the proprietors, Vicky, is fluent in both English and Spanish & very hospitable.

The Calaloo is a great place to eat. It is located on the main road if you turn left from the dock. Walk a bit past the police station and you will see it on your right. The decor is beach-inspired and the food is fresh and delicious. (I particularly love the brownie sundae). Portion-sizes are perfect. Cynthia, the owner is great. She always takes time to talk to her guests and makes sure everything is to our liking. This is a great place to eat during your stay on Taboga.

They also have great Panamanian coffee here!! And a bar for drinking and sparkling water. They also have really cool historic decor doing the walls!

Fabulous restaurant on the island, we ate there xmas eve and it was busy but the food kept on coming out and what we had was excellent, worth the wait. The owner kindly added to the ambience greeting the guests and his Coconut Martini is a gem. I had the fish fillet in creole sauce, absolutely fab! Thanks for adding to a special evening in Isla Taboga with great food and care. We will be back!

Ceviche is not the best dish here. Look for other options. Cheese cake was really good. The drinks are all right. Could be attributed to fact that we were here during covid.

We stopped by the island on a Monday on our way back from the Perlas. Not much was open so we opted to have dinner at a table by the beach. They were out of a number of things but thats been the case every where. It took 45 minutes to get our food. I had to go inside to get the rest of my dinner and found them focused on take-away orders. No one enjoyed their dinners. The cooking oil was rancid. And lastly, due to the long wait, we were bitten many times by insects. At least no one got food poisoning. We travel a lot internationally and this was one of our worst dining experiences. Even the whole fish was not good.

Hitto, mi amigo. Loved spending time with you and I look forward to the next time (one year) we return. The food is great and I know you’ll get your crew as well educated about the kitchen as an ANA crew prepping for arrival into Narita. Be well and stay in touch.

In Taboga today and wanted lunch before the beach. Google recommended Calaloo and I am glad it did. Staff was very welcoming as I walked by, and I was greeted nicely by Hiddo as the waitress showed me to a seat. The Ceviche was fresh and the chips were warm and flavorful - best I've had ANYWHERE. The fried snapper was cooked to perfection and very flavorful. I wish I could try more things, but it was a quick trip to the island. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

  • 3/5 Karsten M. 1 year ago on Google
The location is nice, right at Honda beach. I had fish & chips. Fish was good also the chips. But the chips were too less. And the Sauce tartar was a convenience product, like a MC Donald’s sauce. Another bad thing are the prices of the drinks. National beer costs $3 and a small glass of wine $8. This is usury. In my opinion it’s a tourist trap.

  • 3/5 Gustave S. 1 year ago on Google
Service was a bit slow and we were the only ones there. Juice portions were disappointingly small. The Hawaiian pizza was pretty good. Prices were a bit high, but this is on a somewhat remote island, so they seemed reasonable.

  • 5/5 Hugo V. 1 year ago on Google
This is my third time eating at Calaloo and they never disappoint, the Ragout and Ceviche are delicious. Their flagship drinks taste incredible and it's a no miss! Also Katherine the waitress is a charm!

Wasn’t sure what to expect on Taboga because it’s small and out of the way, but we arrived on the Red Cat and wandered around a few minutes before stopping in. The food was really good, nice view of the water from our little table, and Benny was such a friendly host. Talked to him for a bit and really enjoyed meeting him. Fish tacos were tasty, ceviche was nice, and lobster was really good! I’ll probably never make it back to Taboga, so I’m glad we ate at Calaloo!

Wow had the best shrimp lunch ever! My husband and I needed a snack and shared the Langostinos (huge shrimp or prawns) dripping in tons of garlic and oil. The papas fritas (French fries) were also perfect, especially when dipping through the garlic / oil. We sat upstairs relaxing with their fun music and a cold beer overlooking the bay view. We arrived via Red Kat Catamaran for the day…. Will come back to Taboga Island again and order more shrimp!

  • 3/5 Ali V. 6 years ago on Google
This place was okay. I love ceviche and ordered it because the workers said it was the special here. I ordered it and was pretty disappointed. It was the hardest ceviche I have ever had. The flavor was fine but it wasn’t what I had had in mind. I also ordered samosas with chicken that were pretty tasteless. It must have been good for being food on a remote island but I’d probably try a different place next time.

My partner and I ate here every day we were on the island. Sometimes twice a day. But not every meal I assure you. Try the hummus plate as an appetizer...to die for. Met the owner, he sat and chatted while we ate lunch and made us feel incredibly welcome. Such a laid back and easygoing place to eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Wonderful service, great coffee, great food. 10/10, no question.
