Located in the heart of Panama City, this restaurant was amazing! I was able to sit out on their patio and enjoy the sites and coincidentally some of my favorite Afrobeats were playing. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. I had a Coconut Mojito and it was so fresh and amazing. I loved my meal and got to try something new that may be added to the menu at a later date. This place is a must try! You will not be disappointed!

I really hope these wings win the 2022 wings week challenge because they are BOMB. Everything about these wings were perfect. The parmesan sauce on the wings is just divine. The service is top notch as well, everyone is really friendly and really knows the menu very well. Can’t wait to come back and try more items on the menu. PS they have a pattie with bacon and cheese, it is just.. chefs kiss.

The food here was amazing! I had The one pot seafood bowl (I'm not sure the exact name) That was very tasty! My husband had the jerk chicken It was good, I think my dish was a little more flavorful. Then we had plantain and yucca fries. Everything was very good. We also had the pineapple mojito.. very good!

I vacationed in Panama this past Thanksgiving holiday, The resort food wasn't the best. I really wanted to try authentic AfroPanamanian food. My Uber driver suggested this restaurant, and thank God he did. The food was chef's kiss, and the Sorrel margarita was so good. I highly recommend this restaurant.

The food was extremely flavorful!! The lemonade was also very good. I highly recommend eating here. The service was impeccable, the host helped me choose this meal. I was disappointed they didn’t have while fish today but this fried mahi mahi made up for it.

I was very disappointed that i did not get to eat at this place. I have being following them on social media and said to myself when I go back home I want to eat here. I was visiting my home country therefore my family made plans to take me there. To my surprise the restaurant was super small. It was full and I expected that because of their food and being a Friday night. What I did not expect was the unpleasant way we were treated by the first staff that receives us. It made us just decide to leave and eat somewhere else. We were a party of 7 potential new costumers, some visiting from abroad. My opinion of the restaurant was totally changed by the way the first face of the restaurant greeted us. First impressions make lasting ones.

Amazing Afro-Panamian food. My Jamaican wife loved the jerk chicken plate. She was impressed with how close it was to Jamaican food.

We had the One Pot from Colon at the recommendation of the woman helping us and that plate was BOMB, definitely get it. The Sao (pig feet) were also good here, and I don't even like pig feet! 10/10 would recommend.

My mom is from Colon so I grew up eating this food and the dishes were top notch, very delicious. This food is really something special. I had the cod/bacalao balls with three different sauces and the One Pot from Colon which was stellar, just the right amount of coconut in the rice.The customer service was also great, the ladies were very nice and attentive and I loved the African head wraps they wore, Afropanamanian pride!! I'll visit Panama again in a few years and I hope this restaurant will be around. I wish the chef and staff lots of success!

One of the best food I ever tried. We had the chicken wings as an apatizer which we marinated in a delicious somewhat sweet sauce. But the main dishes (one pots) were on another level. Such intense flavors with fresh ingredients and tender shrimps/chicken. If you are ever in Panama City you HAVE TO go there at least once!

This place has the most AMAZING food, and I'm a picky eater. My boyfriend and I wanted to try Panamanian food and so I did a Google search and found this gem. I'm glad I did. We had the patacones, Saril, limonadas, jerk chicken, pastelitos del Pollo, codfish fritters and yucalitas fritas. I kid you not, everything was flavoral and tasty. La Tapa del Coco is a hidden gem that's a must visit for lunch. While its ambience is very casual, its food is top notch - perfectly cooked and innovative AfroPanamanian flavors. We tried several different dishes: 3 were out of this world and one was very good. For appetizers we ordered Patty de Pollo al Curry and Ceviche de Pulpo. The chicken patty was an empanada filled with chicken curry. It was fabulous! The empanada was deliciously flakey and buttery and the chicken was moist and bursting with a variety of spices. The ceviche was different than a typical ceviche in that the marinade had a sweeter flavor from the mango that wasn't overpowered by the acidity of the citrus. It was accompanied by homemade plantain chips and a camote puree (which also tilted towards a sweeter flavor) that was delicious on the chips and topped with the ceviche juice. We didn't leave a drop of the marinade behind 🙂. For mains, we tried the One Pot Colonese and Medio Jerk Chicken. The One Pot Colonese was amazing! It had both pork and shrimp with coconut, pickled vegetables, onions and plantains served over rice (not crispy) all mixed with a special sauce that was incredible. The shrimp was also perfectly done. The Jerk Chicken was also moist and well seasoned and came with a sweet sauce. All the flavors from the dish were good, but for me I would have liked the jerk seasoning to shine a bit more; I thought the sauce flavors were a tad too dominant. I chose Yucca fries for my side and they were delicious; they were small cut yucca slices perfectly browned (not mashed and reformed). Both main courses were quite large. Service was also excellent. Everyone was friendly and they tag teamed as they were training a new waitress when we were there. The outside terrace is nice with lots of plants around (although it does look into their parking area). Inside there are a handful of tables with orange plastic chairs. It was comfortable but it's definitely a very laid back, informal atmosphere.

A recommendation by my friend- I cannot thank her enough. Everything they touched my tongue made me smile and feel so full of joy! The flavors were complex in the best way possible- I couldn’t stop eating. Definitely recommend the clams if you like curry. The chicken one pot has its own soul and will bring you to a new place. The mojito was a creamy delight. - I don’t want to leave because my soul and body are so full of happiness right now. Every recommendation Liz made was perfect! She made our night! If you were thinking about coming- do it. You won’t be disappointed!!

This place is fantastic the Chef gives much love when preparing foods that are authentically Afro Panamanian but with his own twist. A must if you are in Panama City. Atmosphere customer service is on point and the food DELISH!

Very limited menu, with such few options i was very disappointed with that. The food was not tht great. The Altantic chicken had way too much sauce, the calypso fries work ok to many ingredients. There should be a Hot Wings option , or even just a Plain Crispy Fried Chicken Wings would be a welcomed option. They have really tasty sauces that would be a great compliment to fried Wings of Fries. Also, Cheese fries would be a great addition to the menu as well.

We order codfish for the table. They were crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. I had the curry shrimp/camarones and was full. I got more shrimp than I expected. I could taste the coconut milk and other flavors. The yucaitas were fried well and not greasy. Everyone loved their food. All the dishes were flavorful. The drinks aren't that strong but that's not what I came for. Our waitress Estafanie was very nice. Chef Issac greeted all the guests. Very classy. Wow!!! Make reservations. This place gets crowded quickly.

The food was great, everything tasted amazing and each dish was very unique. My partner and I never had anything like that. The customer service was amazing everyone was nice and helpful.
