We spent 7 nights here. A great choice if looking for a nice place in Casco Viejo. The building is historic and the interior shows it but in a good way. Meticulously maintained and restored its a beautiful motel. The elevator itself, the first elevator in Panama City..it is slow but seriously....are you in that big of a rush..? The rooms are very nice, possibly the most comfortable bed/ pillows I have slept in in years..did not want to get out...!!! But we had to...to explore the wonderful Casco Viejo area. The only negative is the extremely slow service in the restaurant. It's like we were the only people in there and still....a turtle moves faster.. But the food was very good. Quite possibly one of the best Hamburgers I have eaten in Panama. I would definitely stay here again. The view, the bed, food, and location make this a Winner..5 stars...!!!!!!

Absolutely amazing in every way! The nice lady at the front desk got us checked in early which made our day after a sleepless red-eye flight. The breakfast was ideal with fresh squeezed juice and delicious eggs Benny.

This was so comically bad. We were 20 people pre-booked for brunch. Reservation was prepared only for 8 (?). They wanted $1200 booking fee (yeah sure). Food was revolting - brunch items included soggy, cold, humiliating nachos. Staff (only 2 for a hall with at least 50 people) confused on menus, slow, inefficient, rude and unapologetic after in some cases waiting 2 hours for food to arrive. Zero management on site, no one to complain to. They then rang me to complain I didn’t pay (I did in full and kept receipt). This is a total con. Avoid at all costs.

The lock didn't work so they put us in a better room. Great, right? Except they CHARGED us $160 for a room upgrade we didn't ask for, they didn't tell us about it until we were leaving and our driver had already arrived. There's no soap for washing your hands in the bedrooms (we stayed in two different rooms. No soap. How can you justify charging $350 per night and not put soap in the rooms?) Additionally, our room was across from a very loud church bell, dinging them points on location, and the temperature in the room was freezing until we turned the thermostat completely off.

I hold events for my social group all over Panama City...and unfortunately, I will have to say that this was the worse experience that we've had period! First, let's start with even trying to make the reservation. When we first called and wanted a reservation for a group of 24, they wanted me to pay $1200! Why would I ever pay a business to bring them business??? This was not a private event... it was a group of people who love to go out and eat, and we wanted to experience the brunch at the American Trade. Because of this, we had to make two reservations of 12... which is silly because it's the same thing as making a reservation of 24. I also get to the venues for my events a hour prior just in case...and sure enough, they only had one reservation for our group, and for 8! I was able to work that out, and also helped to get the tables together. Next my guest begin to arrive and it was like pulling teeth with getting our orders taken. There were only two waiters for the entire restaurant, not to mention, there were two other large groups that just walked in without a reservation and they were sat immediately...but yet they gave me a hard time trying to make one in advance. Two of my guests including myself, did not receive our food until the end when my others guests were finished and trying to pay for their checks. That was another difficult thing... paying for the checks. We sat for over 30 minutes just trying to do that. Last but not least.... the food was just mediocre. It will definitely be forever before I return. The experience, service and food was below standard. It's too bad because it's such a beautiful hotel.

My first visit to Panama in November 2020, the American Trade Hotel was only open for Thursday through Sunday, which did not coincide with my Panama City stay. So I did not get to see the gorgeous interior remodel of this building as I had read much about. (This November 2020 visit was right after a long eight month strict lockdown in Panama to attempt to get the covid virus under control.). On my second visit, I was lucky enough to take a stroll through this beautiful building. My friend joining me works in the hotel industry and has worked in the luxury market for decades. We were both impressed by the lobby appearance and layout and design of the lounging area. The staff welcomed us into the cool AC and we didn’t stay long. Their coffee shop and restaurant were empty as it was late afternoon on a Friday and an off time. I would love to stay here one day. And next visit I will make time for at least a cool cocktail at their gorgeous bar.

This review is based on breakfast services at the dining hall. I had an early flight to catch & as the restaurant was around the corner from my AirBnB, thought I can stop by for an early breakfast. According to the website, it opens at 6 AM. When I got there, it wasn't open yet, the washers were still washing down the large windows & told me to come back at 6:30. As I had some time, I walked around and came back. The hall was huge, beautiful & dotted with large plants in pots which gave it a serene & calming environment. No other diner was in the hall but the lady at the reception didn't pay any attention to me. Only after she finished what she was doing, she grumpily came over & seated me. I had a simple order of pancakes, eggs over easy & coffee and it was all fresh & tasty. The second lady that took the order and served was very nice though the kitchen was kind of slow (which I attributed to the kitchen just opening). However, the first grumpy lady was playing something blaring on her phone & also chatted loudly to her colleagues from her reception desk. Not very becoming of a high standard hotel.

Super nice hotel in the old town of Panama. Excellent service from the staff. Nice and clean rooms. The location is perfect if you want to go in the nice streets in the old town. Highly recommend this hotel. They even have a small pool. But that was really small, so don’t expect much.

Excellent renovation. Best place to stay in Panama if you prefer boutique hotels over generic luxury chains. Comfortable rooms and the view from the panorama room was epic. Church bells ringing. Walkable and safe area.

Had a great stay here. Hernando at the front desk is the man! He helped us find great restaurants and things to do, and was very nice and proactive

4-star hotel with 1-star service. We booked 3 nights at the hotel with a free cancellation policy. Unfortunately, our plans changed. We canceled a week in advance, well before the 24-hour deadline. They still charged us for the first night. When I called to report the charge, they said they would refund us for their mistake. It's been months, and after several phone calls and conversations with management, repeatedly telling us they'll reimburse us for the error, we still haven't received our refund.

Elegant and clean. We loved our stay at the American Trade Hotel. The live music from the square out front on Saturday night was delightful.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel in the middle of old town, perfect location with private parking in a restored building. The rooms are huge with loads of details and everything you could wish for, make sure to check out the library too which is an absolute hidden gem!

This hotel is NOT at this location!! Do better, Google! We ended up in this very sketchy neighborhood and missed our shuttle bus. 😡

i have been staying at the ATH for several years now, and it's my home away from home. as the former owner of a hotel voted top 10 hotspot in the world by vogue, i appreciate excellent hospitality. the hotel oozes understated luxury with soaring ceilings, wonderful landscaping, and expansive rooms with great views overlooking plaza herrera, casco viejo, the bridge of the americas, and the modern skyline of panama city. it's a soothing oasis from the franticness and noise of casco. the restaurant is excellent, and the service is always impeccable. a special shout out to hennesy the FD manager and estephania for making it such a special stay......and for the delicious chocolate cake and sweet note in my room upon arrival. i have been going to casco for about 15 years now, and this is by far and away the best hotel to stay in in panama city. thank you again, and see you all very soon i hope!!!

The hotel doesn’t separate the rooms from the restaurant. This is a review on the restaurant. We made a reservation for the restaurant on a Saturday night. I see now why it wasn’t necessary. The service is excellent. No issue at all with them. We ordered some delicious nachos to share & 2 drinks. Then we ordered our mains: mushroom ravioli & a steak that was on the chef special menu. The ravioli was very undercooked (see pictures) & still raw. The steak was good in a few bites, tough & grisly in others. Why a chef would serve a chewy steak is beyond comprehension. My recommendation: order the nachos & a cocktail, skip the main course.

    - Very run down hotel: lift was down most of my stay, no hot water on my first night, curtains tended to get stuck.. - charged me almost half a night extra for an extra person spending the night, like a red light district hotel.

Pleasant restaurant in the ideally placed American trade Hotel. International cuisine, good service. Nicely decorated and good place for a lunch, brunch, coffee or smoothie.

Coffee was pretty good, nothing exceptional though for a place that says they have specialty coffee on every wall. I asked what kind of coffees they have but was read out the menu "cappuccino, latte..." Service was good, but what killed our time here was the caramelised banana oatmeal my partner had. It was packet oatmeal (I've had enough in my life to know it when I taste it.) with two teeny tiny banana slices on top. Bland boring and honestly priced about 6$ it's a joke. We asked for some flavour or fruit or the rest of the banana and were given an extra two little sliced of caramelised banana lmao A bit embarrassing to sell that not gonna lie.

Spacious common areas in lobby, restaurant, courtyard and rooftop pool. The valet parking is a must to avoid a parking ticket. The staff really goes out of their way to be helpful but they are stretched way too thin; woefully understaffed by 300%.

Great location, building architecture and interiors. Poor service & management. Outdoor pool is not well maintained and very small/shallow. Should have been a much better experience overall because it has got good foundations.

A beautiful hotel with the best view from your room, you must stay at least one night if you visit Panama .

Great cocktails made by a warm and funny bartender. Our drinks were $9 each. We paid the same (and more) at other places nearby and they contained cheaper ingredients and tasted terrible. Get the real deal at American Trade Hotel.

Took to long to get your food only one waitress serving for approximately almost 20 people. Food was not great, not enough time to get dessert.

Truly a gem in the old town. Can't say enough about the hotel, the food, and especially the staff.

I only went to the cafe only but the service was good and the coffee is better quality than some places in the area. They only have one size here which is a good sign of quality. The flat white is close the the name. In an update. The restaurante is traquile with pananamenian taste. The prices are reasonable at $20 top end. The Butternut soup is creamy and smooth. A real café con leche also! Quaility all around here!

Definitely one of the best hotels in Panama City. If not the best. Charming, warmth, beautifully decorated and restored.

The is an amazing historic hotel that has been beautifully restored. It sits in a courtyard with other beautifully restored buildings. I had a delicious lunch there and the service was impeccable. The manager of the hotel took time after my lunch to give me the grand tour of the the rooms and entire facility. Very nice digs.

Amazing and beautiful hotel. The staff was amazing from the front desk (Hernando especially) to the restaurant to the doorman. Beautifully decorated and good food and coffee. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else next time I come here. It’s worth paying a little extra for a comfortable and spacious and beautiful place.

Simply stunning; from service to atmosphere, the ATH answers the call with inescapable turn of the century charm. Whether you are new to Casco or an old friend of the "second Panama City" you will find the best part of yourself at the American Trade.

Really nice rooms in this beautiful and cosy hotel. Very friendly staff. A bit expensive, even for Casco Viejo standards, but positive experience altogether.
