If I could place 0 stars I would. Sadly many Doctors in this hospital have no ethics and will perform expensive and unnecessary tests and even go all the way to unnecessary surgeries. My partner, family, friends, colleagues and my self have lived through this useless, expensive and stressful nightmare. This was my last visit, will never step a foot in this hospital.

This happened today Apr 8 2021. The staff named V, sent me to wait outside while leaving these 4 people chit chatting for more than 15 minutes and he did not say a word to any of them. Yes I surely had a terrible bad experience and waste of time not only because he switched turns 1 2 3 to 1 3 2. Guess what, we had turn #2.

We had a family members become seriously ill during our travel up the Panama Canal. We had him evacuated from our ship and taken to Punta Pacifica for his care, where he was placed in ICU for 5 days, due to septic shock. This hospital saved his life, and for that they get all of the credit. My primary concern regarding our experiences relates more to the fact that this hospital is rated as the #1 for "expats" and we chose this hospital in part because of the positive reputation it has for working with Western's when they are traveling abroad. Immediately after beginning treatment, cultural and language barrier became apparent. We are in Panama so we except most everyone will speak Spanish, but for a hospital that brands itself around treating expats, there were some communication challenges during our state. Additionally, during the overnight shift - there is only 1 translator for the entire hospital - so if you need assistance with a situation, you typically have to wait several hours for a translator to appear. Also, at least in the ward we were in, there seem to be either no or very few doctors who work at the hospital overnight. The nursing staff are mostly very good, but when events would occur overnight and there was no doctor on call, that was pretty terrifying. Again, the hospital receives all the credit for saving my family members's life, but based on the OVERALL experience, I don't think I would return here for care. I might try to Cleveland clinic instead, which is just down the street.

I was on vacation in Panama City and I fell in the shower. I needed stitches. However, my Spanish is very weak. As soon as they knew I was English-speaking, they assigned a customer service rep/interpreter to me. This was very helpful. The doctor was also bilingual. He explained the stitching procedure and told me everything I needed to know in terms of taking care of the wound. While they are pricey, the price was worth the rendered service. I would imagine this is not an ideal facility for locals who have low income. If I am every injured in this city again, I know where to go. Thank you Punta Pacifica!

I am not understanding why Johns Hopkins (one of the best hospitals in the US) is afflilated with this hospital. Just had a family member discharged yesterday. A stroke patient gets put in a chair at 10 am and told that they can go home. The family is told it will take about 2 hours to complete the discharge process and prepare discharge papers, instructions, medications etc. 6 (six) hours later and still in the chair, they finally complete the process. During the patients 10 day stay, she developed a bed sore. No one checking for common things that happen with many patients. In order to tolerate the medication and get stronger, we were told she must eat her food. She is not able to feed herself (due to the temporary effects of the stroke). All of her meals are brought and left on the tray. She needs to drink water but no one brings water to her. No one in sight to assist (when family is not physically in the room). Uneaten food trays are removed and no one questions why the food is not eaten. Medication is prescribed without regard to side effects and other medications that conflict with each other. A medication is given that can cause STROKE. The medication causes her to be so out of it she can barely communicate or keep her eyes open. NOTE: Stroke did not affect her speech. Maybe a stoned patient is easier to care for. No one is held accountable. The list is very long....... For expats in Panama THIS IS NOT AN AMERICAN HOSPITAL. Although they claim to have English speaking staff, only the doctors spoke to us in English and a customer service rep who helps with the English speaking patients. There seems to be only 1 in the entire hospital at any given time. The staff who are hands on with the patients do not speak English and claim they do not have a phone to use Google translate. When a patient requests something it can take hours for someone to bring it or respond. It is nowhere near the care you would receive at a mediocre hospital in the US. Someone from the family should stay with the patient 24/7 in order to avoid the most basic of complications. The one thing I can say is that the room was clean when she arrived. Johns Hopkins needs to know about this! The professionalism of the staff is questionable. There are some very caring individuals that work there but they are terrified of losing their jobs so they don't complain. It is very expensive and not at all what we expected. The scary part is that this is the best available in the country of Panama.

Don't go here for covid testing. We paid online for the rapid test, was told we'd get results back in 30 minutes, and it's 2 days later and we never received anything. The nurse didn't confirm our birthdays, didn't verify our names, just glanced at our receipts and shoved the thing in our nose so unnecessarily far. I guess Panama nurses don't know that it's completely unnecessary to stick the swab in that far, you get the same results in the front of the nose too. Pretty sure the rude nurse just threw our tests away and never submitted them to the lab. Absolutely unprofessional and ridiculous.

The first encounter with the doctor was very pleasant. Thereafter, the doctor wasn't present when the surgical procedure was to be discussed which was supposedly required by policy. The anesthesiologist said incisions would be made in different than that of which our daughter received. We were told our daughter would get a FaceTime follow up in 10 days. Instead, I received a rushed call in 5 days and the doctor didn't even see our daughter. Recently I asked a question via what's app about the glue over the scar and no response. We have yet still to see the report from the CAT scan identifying an umbilical hernia that was treated as well as appendix removal. We are very grateful our daughter is recovering fast. With a price tag of almost $10,000 we expected better.

We were sent to Pacifica Salud as a result of an accident while on a cruise vacation. This was a scary experience for us to say the least. We felt a great sense of relief on arriving at this private hospital in Panama. Many of the doctors and staff speak excellent English. For those staff members who struggled with English (as I struggle with my Spanish), there was Google Translate and lots of smiles and effort to be understood and we were always successful. This hospital is very clean and we found the medical care to be excellent, compassionate, and caring. In addition to the medical staff the hospital assigns customer service representatives who help patients with non-medical concerns, provide newspapers and books, answer questions, and in my case, even went to the in-house pharmacy with me to help translate. The hospital room was large and very clean and included a storage closet, small refrigerator, small sofa that converts to bed and easy chair. That sofa was great for me. Though there are several excellent hotels within walking distance, I needed and wanted to stay close by while my husband received treatment. Each night, one of the staff converted the sofa for me and even turned down the sheets in a way that made me feel so comforted and welcome. I was also able to arrange for companion meals and the food was very good, well balanced and nutritious. We had international travel insurance and once the lines of communication opened between the hospital and the insurance company, I stopped worrying about the financial side of things. We did reach our emergency medical limit while here and there was a small copay at the end. Certainly glad we had that travel insurance! The hospital medical staff could not have been better. They listened to our concerns and worked with us toward our goal of returning home to further treatment. After a two week stay, we had a very early morning ride to Tokumen airport, but staff was on hand to help us with our luggage. Such a relief, as my husband had to be in a wheelchair. The admin team got us all the paperwork we needed to leave the hospital and make it to the airport on time. And the medical team had, the day before, carefully packed and treated my husband's wound to ensure safe travel. If our insurance limit was higher, we would have seriously considered staying in Panama to complete the treatment -- that's how high our confidence level was in the treatment we got there. Our doctors in Panama gave complete reports to our doctors in the US and that made the whole transition so much more smooth and stress free. No one wants to be in a hospital, but this stay in terms of both medical care received and other services was as pleasant and positive as the staff could make it. We feel like we made unexpected friends at Pacifica Salud and wish the staff there all the best in the new year. Some helpful things to know: There is a huge shopping mall directly across the street from the hospital that provided an air-conditioned spot where I could walk off stress and get a much-needed break from being in the hospital room. In addition to tons of stores, there is a supermarket where I picked up fresh fruit snacks and yogurt for me to have in the room (I chose only the dinner companion meal as I prefer to eat less food for breakfast and lunch). In sum, we were so grateful to be in this hospital for my husband's care.

(Translated by Google) Bad attention in the emergency room. They made me wait from 12 pm until 6:00 pm, 6 hours to get into a room, without asking me if I had eaten or drunk. If it was not for my family that was waiting for me I would have been there without any kind of attention. They should review their care protocols better because they leave a lot to ask for. (Translated by Google) We have no complaint from the administrative staff or the nursing staff and technicians, most of them with a human warmth that needs to be replicated, but take note and document well before you or a family member has to be admitted ... Unfortunately, it happened to us that a famous pediatric pulmonologist who has a consultation in this hospital, who was called for an interconsultation, told us that because we used the hospital as a hotel ... That the patient had nothing ... Almost apparently according to him, we had him ordered to the pediatrician who attended us in emergency to enter our child to enjoy a peaceful vacation in the hospital .. and many other things that said they show lack of ethics and human values, also warn them that if you have health insurance ( there are usually many specialist doctors who do not want to belong to any medical insurance network) and need an interconsultation with a specialist, (it is very painful what I am going to tell you) it is necessary that PACTE before that interconsultation the price that the doctor will charge as well as it does with other services in the street, if it is convenient for him to take it and if he does not look for another doctor, in this way You will be surprised how it happened to us that we received in a single consultation the cardiologist doctor, magnificent doctor, very good care and complete diagnosis that we received (which is what we always expect from all the doctors) but that his fees were for USD500 and that the insurance does not cover because she does not work with insurance, to be fair those $ 500 that I charge not only was the consultation, that amount was divided between her consultation, an echo cardiogram that she was the one who performed it and an electrocardiogram, who who did it It was the assistant who arrived with the equipment, it should be noted that the hospital also charged for the echo cardiogram and the electro seems to me the same amounts, so they charged us twice .... I have relatives and friends doctors in other latitudes of the world, I have seen them in function, I have seen their human warmth, their commitment, their altruistic sense, their ethical and teaching behavior ... Be careful here in Panama it is not always like this and in this hospital much less, my last words for the Pediatrician doctor who in spite of several difficulties did honor to his investiture of Pediatrician. There is everything in the Lord's village this hospital is not the difference.

I had a persistent sore throat, and saw a doctor here. I didn’t have insurance, and the consultation was $60, while the antibiotics (two shots and five days of pills) were another $120. The treatment cured my sore throat. The doctor spoke English (speak to the Information desk in the lobby to find English-speaking doctors). Overall, a pretty pleasant experience. I found out afterwards that you can search for the doctors online and make appointments there (it also says the languages they speak). Also, it’s better to pay in cash! They charged a 7% fee for credit card payments (I thought it was tax), but no fee was charged for cash.

Went in for a foot injury at the emergency section on a Sunday evening. The longest part was the administration, because they did not speak English. (They charged me 500usd upfront as a deposit, and in the end you get back what you did not use). But as soon as the administration was finished, I was seen by a doctor immediately, no waiting time (doctor had basic English, enough to communicate, but not perfect). Consult incl. xray, results and prescription took exactly an hour (on Sunday evening, without waiting time sounds unbeatable). Cost about 200usd in the end.

I came here at 3 AM with acute tonsillitis. I was treated very quickly, most of the staff spoke passable English. Definitely better than my Spanish :) My insurance was unfortunately expired, so I paid about $100 for the doctor to look at me, give me an antibiotic injection and prescribe further medicine to take for a week. I could get all of the prescriptions right there for about $80. Great price given I had no insurance. And great service. Thank you!

(Translated by Google) Very modern hospital with exceptionally friendly staff. From the reception to the attending doctor, everyone is empathetic and friendly. Since my Spanish is not good enough, I was immediately offered to translate. I felt very well cared for and safe. As a tourist you really don't want to get into the situation of going to a hospital in a foreign country, but if I have to, I can highly recommend this clinic. I work in a hospital myself and am very convinced of the hygienic conditions, the establishment of the hospital and the professional skills. Once again I would like to emphasize the friendliness and warmth as well as the empathy of the staff (from the reception to the cashier and the doctor). Exceptional and extremely beneficial. Thanks a lot! Vielen Dank!

He lacks a lot of treatment. I asked him for a summary of my case and he didn't give me all the diagnoses. Most staff there spoke English at some level which helped me a lot since my Spanish was not good at all, unfortunately. They were friendly and nice. The cost was not as much as I thought it would be, which was a plus.

I'm writing about a doctor in ophthalmology clinic which is part of this hospital named Clinica de Retina y Vitreo Dr. Edith Perez de Lopez is a fraudster who scams people out of their money. I did an eye retina test at the Centro de Cirurgia Ocular and was told to see Dr. Edith Perez de Lopez who would explain what the results meant. When I went to the doctor and showed the results, stating that the lab had suggested she could explain their meaning, she sent me to do the test again. The exact same one. I did it and paid 200 dollars, and when I was paying, I saw that the test names were identical. I don't speak good Spanish and there was no English spoken there, so I went to another doctor and asked if these were the same tests. And he said Yes - these are the same tests! My husband went to the clinic and argued, but they pretended not to understand. Then they said the doctor had declared that tests conducted in another lab were invalid, they had to be done at their place. But Dr. Edith has an old machine for the eye retina test, while the lab where I got it done has all new equipment. So why does the Centro de Cirurgia Ocular lab recommend this doctor if the tests are invalid? My husband argued and said they were scamming people, and they returned us 100 dollars, even though they should have returned all the money. This Dr. Edith scammed me out of money and made me do the same tests. I will file a complaint with the hospital management, why do they need a fraudster like Edith who will ruin the hospital's reputation! Don't go to her, she makes you do tests you don't need! She deceives you!

Very negative experience! My daughter was not found to have a problem with the gallbladder, although when we arrived, we were immediately asked to pay attention to the liver, since the pain was there. They gave $900 for the examination, went home, and a day later she was even worse!Thank God we have a Russian doctor who looked at these tests and prescribed treatment. There are incompetent doctors in the ambulance!

I wanted to write a review about Dr. Maria Alejandra Diaz, who is a vascular surgeon with the CardioVasc care group of the Johns Hopkins affiliated Punta Pacifica Hospital in downtown Panama City. I was vacationing in Panama when I suddenly got what turned out to be a DVT, a 4” life threatening clot in my leg. Dr. Diaz saw me almost immediately based on my symptoms and had me diagnosed with her state-of-the-art color doppler ultrasound machine in ten minutes. From there, she started me on the appropriate course of blood thinners (confirmed by my PCP back home), and stayed in close touch with me for the next two weeks until she cleared me with another ultrasound to fly back home. Dr. Diaz was intelligent in answering my many questions and concerns, and I feel very lucky to have landed in her good care while in Panama. I highly recommend her and the CardioVasc team without hesitation.

My son ending inpatient and all the paper work from ER to the room took an eternity and was 12am midnight we were so tired. Then when finally arrived in the room the Temperature were so low that we were frozen, the sofa bed for the visit sleep in this case me the father of the patient is so tiny that my feet are on the air, and is so narrow that you can’t really sleep there, the exit of the air conditioner in the room is so so noisy that not help you to sleep, and the roller are transparent so after not sleep more than 2 hours at 5am your rooms is bright for the light of the street the sunrise. In conclusion the room is not confortable at all neither for the patient or his (her) family who stay to sleep with him (her) But in term of medical attention, technology and equipment the hospital is pretty update with last generation of everything.
