This has to be one of the worst hospitals in the world. I have traveled through many countries and lived in remote Afghanistan for four years but never encountered care as poor as this. Our friend was sent by one of Santo Tomas' clinics to emergency and has been sitting there for more than 30 hours. They have not fed him or even given water - "because the doctor has not written orders." He has a high fever but has been denied any medication. He was told there are no beds in emergency so he will have to sit in the chair overnight again tonight. This is NOT healthcare, it is torture and should not be permitted by the Panamanian Ministry of Health. Just because someone is poor does not mean they should be treated as a sub-human in an institution that supposedly is a hospital. Now we are trying to get him released and able to access real medical treatment from people who adhere to professional standards and care about those they treat.

I arrived at the hospital with my brother. He was in bad shape with all kind of complications due to a chronic illness. First, the personnel is so rude that make you wish to be death, so you don’t have to deal with these kind of professionals. . Second, the waiting room is depressing and the waiting time is absurd for an “emergency room”. Third, the calling system is left to the residents and many of them mumble the patient’s ñames hoping no one understand. If the patient don’t make it to the doctor office, they don’t bother calling again (less work and hassle for them). Fourth, there is not an institutional TEAM. We spend 18 hours in the waiting area and every time we asked the doctor in charge, the answer was: “I am not responsible for the team of doctors working in the previous shift”. Fifth, there is not transparency. Nobody tell you their name unless they are prompted, and even then, they hesitate a lot. Sixth, there are some physicians that lack sense of service. One particular doctor, surprised me with his rudeness, Dr. Pimentel, who even used profane words while talking to my brother (the patient) and have an intern (Dr. Eric Berenger) holding the door shut so me, the relative of the patience, couldn’t enter the room. Very disappointing! I love my Panamá, but situations like this should not be ignored. Someone, in this hospital should educate these doctors and staff in the meaning of “social service”. Don’t get me wrong, there are many good professionals in the HST, but the bad ones make so much noise that good ones can’t be heard.

I needed to fill a prescription as a foreigner so Santo Thomas sent me to a hospital that only takes Panama insurance who then sent me to a clinic who then sent me to another clinic then back to Santo Thomas. After the full circuit, I was still sent somewhere else. I now know where the movie idiocracy obtained its hospital material. This has to be the most well meaning set of low IQ medical staff in the known galaxy. Better to fall on a sword and be done with it versus going here. Avoid unless you want extreme comic relief.

Los doctores son poco profesionales no respetan los derechos de los pacientes ni de los familiares de saber la condición , el pronóstico y el tratamiento del paciente. No respetan la privacidad del paciente dan lo que según ellos llaman informe médico en una reunión conjunta con los familiares de todos los pacientes en el piso, todo el mundo se entera del estado de cada paciente. Mi tío perdió la vida en ese hospital por mala practica y no conforme con eso en la morgue trataron su cuerpo como un bagazo de carne. Ni siquiera pueden tratar con dignidad el cuerpo de un ser humano. Creo que un veterinario tiene más bondad al tratar a un animal que los llamados trabajadores de la salud de este hospital. Si su familiar es hospitalizado allí le recomiendo vaya preparando el funeral. Sería mejor ni siquiera llevarlo, Ud puede tratar mejor a su ser querido en la casa. Ah, y si es extranjero menos vaya porque ahí sí que más rápido lo dejan morir. EL HOSPITAL DE LA MUERTE!!!!

Muy mala atención del personal de enfermeria falta de vocacion y demasiada practicante me hicieron cesárea y quien me puso la anestesia fue una estudiante a tal punto q no encontraba la parte donde va y me chuzo 10 veces porq las conté, fuera de eso no le informaron en ningun momento a mi esposo q me habian subido a cirugía y no le dieron ninguna información mía por más de 2 veces q pregunto y decían q no sabían nada q era información confidencial, después la maleta con mis cosas y las del bebé nunca la recibieron y así sin nada me tuve q quedar hasta el otro día q mi esposo fue, las enfermeras solo 2 dos fueron amables un chico y otra nena porq las demás parecían q anduvieron molestas y la culpa fuera de uno, al niño se lo llevaron y dure toda la noche del viernes y madrugada de sabado preguntando por él y nadie sabia decir nada en la manaña le pregunte a cuabta enfermera de turno habia q donde estaba mi hijo y hasta q a una le nació ayudarme y me lo trajeron como a las 10 de la mañana y yo habia dado a luz a las de la tarde del viernes y hasta esa hora supe de el y eso porq me toco perseguirlos para q me informaran de el si no ni idea y no estaba ni hospitalizado y otras mamas q habian dado a luz despues de mi ellas si tenian sus bebes y yo sin saber nada del mio

Hospital público, con buen servicio médico de gastroenterología. No hay estacionamientos. Hay demora en la citas. El servicio de radiología es muy bueno. Sólo que algunas veces se dañan los equipos.

Si sientes un dolor muy fuerte que incluso puede ser tan grave y pienses que vayas a morir, y no hay otra opción que el Hospital Santo Tomas, mejor quédese en su casa a morir a que te traten mal allá, con cero empatía, doctores y jefe de turno. Doctora que me quiso forzar a quedarme mucho más tiempo (ya iba a entrar el 3 turno) para ser atendida después de haber esperado como 11 horas y jefe de turno que se negó a entregarme todos mis exámenes el mismo día, habiendo yo cancelado todos los exámenes. No me ayudaron en lo absoluto y tiré dinero ahí. No lo recomiendo, horrible experiencia.
