I was DELIGHTED with this tour. I have been recommending this trip to all my friends whole-heartedly. Coming from New England in January, what I wanted was some warm weather, unspoiled nature, good water for paddling, a fun adventure, a somewhat comfortable back country camping experience, decent equipment, and someone to make ALL the arrangements. And if I could wish for something I did not want, it would be mosquitos. I couldn’t believe it, but I got everything I wanted. And very few mosquitos (January 2018 - your mileage may vary!) This trip combined radical 4WD to get to the rafting headwaters, a full day of Class II-III rafting, then four days of amazing paddling – all nature and we did not see another boater, tourist, or sign of civilization for most of the time. All this and only a few hours from the USA! Panama is a gem hiding in plain sight, and I was delighted to have it all to myself for the five days we were on the water. We felt safe, comfortable, and we were certainly well-fed. Our guide, Orlando, is a professional chef and we enjoyed appetizers, beer and wine, multiple course hot dinners and breakfasts, and fresh pineapple with every meal. The Aventuras Panama home office tracked our every move with a special GPS that monitored our position and status (Orlando had to update our status every hour or so). The gear, training, and preparation were all good. All we had to do was paddle, enjoy the scenery, and eat the plentiful great food. On a scale of one to five, where five is that all my expectations were perfectly satisfied, I’d give this trip a five. If there were a special category, though, for where most of what I got was beyond my expectations, I would not hesitate to give this trip that special category. The planning, logistic support, equipment, guides, friendliness, support, and packaging that Aventuras Panama provided was just fantastic.

Absolutely an excellent company to book all your tours. We visited Panama with a large group and the service and attention were well effectuated to keep us safe and provide us with excellent tours to enjoy safely. Very professional and friendly. Everyone did their absolute best with us. Kudos to Javier the leader and the tour guides Juan and Roberto.

What an amazing close to our fun filled family vacation in Panama. We did it all during our visit and this was the whole families favorite day (ages 11, 15, 17). Javier has put together an experience that would be hard to replicate anywhere. the personal time and energy he puts into this is incredible. The thrill of being deep in the jungle, eating mangos off the trees, swimming in the refreshing waters, battling the rapids, it was absolutely perfect. We made our way back to the van via the Embera people using their canoes constructed from the trees of the jungle. This is not an 'easy' tour by any stretch and not for everyone. Be sure to know your parties fitness level as I have many friends that would not have enjoyed the three hour hike to start the journey, we LOVED it!! We were not prepared with water proof bags for our phones so left them behind, Javier helped us capture some memories, but next time I would have my camera (strapped on, of course). Thank you Javier for a trip of a lifetime!!

The whole day was fantastic. Be prepared to be exhausted at the end but it was definitely worth the time and money. Great scenery, informative, exciting, good food. Everything ran seamlessly and it supports a good cause. Javier is a great guide.

It was a blast! My sisters and I went rafting on the Rio Grande and we had a great time. Javier was a knowledgeable guide. It was our first time and he took his time explaining everything. He also let us go swimming which we all loved! Our driver and spotter were also kind and made our experience enjoyable. We got caught in the rain at the end and they all made sure we would get back safe. I would recommend this adventure!

Chagras Challenge Helif Rafting - We opted to take the helicopter ride to the put in place for the rafting, which was a great way to start off the day. Our pilot was very friendly. The rafting was a lot of fun and the scenery was beautiful. Javier was a great guide. Next time we come to Panama we'll have him organize our entire itinerary!

My experience was outstanding. It was everything that I had in mind going into the trip and more. Our guide Antonio was great. He guided us throughout the course and was a real gentleman. Anything less than a five star would be a lie.

Don't Leave Panama Without This Experience During the third week of November, my husband and I participated in the Chagres Challenge. The tour description was exactly what we experienced. Our guide, Javier, is a hidden Panamanian gem - his knowledge and skills were beyond measure and definitely contributed to the overall satisfaction of our trip. Safety is Javier's number one focus and then teaching. He gave us historical, ecological, political, and social lessons that made helped us immerse into the Panamanian culture. In addition, Javier was prepared and calculated - not a minute was wasted. The highlight of our rafting ride was spotting a jaguar in addition to white eagles and howling monkeys. We already told our family and friend to start planning a trip to Panama - this company is definitely worth the trip!

The Chagres Challenge was an exciting experience where we were able to hike up through the panamanian Rainforest and then raft down the Chagres river, all within a day. We saw different animas, learned about the history of the National Park, rafted through some Class III rapids and even enjoyed lunch by the river. A must for anyone visiting the city.

A friend and travel companion worked with Javier to create a tour that pieced together many of the options that Adventures Panama offers, to allow an activity-packed trip through Panama that lasted 9 days. From the moment we arrived in Panama City until the day we left, we felt well taken care of. Javier is an excellent communicator (we used What's App to keep everyone in our group of 5 included in day-to-day updates), very organized and flexible to the changes that sometimes arise with travel. We first visited the Guna Yala region on the Caribbean side, where there was plenty of time to explore and learn about the nearby community and snorkel the beautiful coral reef, as well as ample time for napping in hammocks on the front porch of our overwater palapa-style bungalows. We enjoyed ultra-fresh seafood throughout our stay there, as the local fishermen delivered their catch daily. :) We toured the ancient ruins of "old Panama" or Panama Viejo, as well as the "other" old Panama, the colonial section of Panama City known as Casco Antiguo - our local guide Juan was a wealth of information about Panama's history. We also traveled to the highlands & stayed in the charming mountain town of Boquete. The cool breezes and mountain air were a welcome change from the tropical weather of the lowlands. Boquete has made a name for itself for producing high-end specialty coffee, and we were fortunate enough to spend an entire day (hands down my favorite day of the entire trip!) on a small coffee farm that also offers a hike through its gorgeous cloud forest, with a sighting of both a male and female resplendent quetzal (!), up and down hills and out to a lookout point to take in the view of nearby 11,000 foot Volcan Baru and the surrounding valley. We were surprised by an incredible gourmet lunch prepared by proprietors Rolando & Gabriella. Our afternoon wrapped up with a delicious coffee tasting. In the highlands we also rafted river rapids, did a thrilling zipline tour through the cloud forest canopy AND because of the timing of our trip, spent a wonderful evening ringing in the new year at the Panamonte Inn. WOW. Of course, a trip to Panama would not be complete without visiting the Panama Canal. We managed to get to see locks on both the Pacific and Caribbean sides. Fascinating! Our final full day in Panama we kayaked the Chagres River (with local guide Juan) to the point at which it meets the Caribbean Sea at Fort San Lorenzo. I was pleased that we did NOT see any crocodiles in the river during the 2 hours we spend paddling. :) I highly recommend Adventures Panama and am so happy to have been able to travel to this part of the world.

The Monkey Island and Sloth Sanctuary tour with Oliver was great. He was knowledgeable and engaging. Visiting Monkey Island was a lot of fun. Our boat driver did a good job in finding areas where monkeys and other animals were present. Oliver gave us some food to put in our hands for they monkeys to take. The sloth sanctuary and butterfly garden were also interesting. We really enjoyed this tour and would highly recommend it.
