We
visited
Playa
Farallon,
next
to
playa
Blanca
in
September.
It
was
fairly
clean
throughout
the
beach,
and
quiet
during
the
week.
The
weekends
bring
more
visitors.
There
are
only
a
handful
of
restaurants
serving
cocktails
and
beer
to
choose
from
on
the
beach,
and
another
few
behind
the
beach
inland.
The
water
was
OK
to
swim,
warm
with
some
waves,
and
not
clear,
so
its
better
for
the
more
confident
swimmer.
The
sand
is
soft
and
a
mix
from
beige
to
black
depending
on
which
end
of
the
long
stretch
you
are.
It
can
take
about
40
minutes
to
walk
the
length
of
the
beach.
the
west
end
near
the
river
mouth
next
to
Playa
Blanca
feels
more
local
and
run-down,
and
the
east
side
is
newer
with
high
rise
resorts.
The
area
is
dominated
by
Resorts
&
high
rises,
so
there
is
little
choice
in
terms
of
budget
or
moderate
priced
accommodation.
The
'cheaper'
hotels
or
hostels
are
in
fact
quite
expensive
in
comparison
to
the
rest
of
the
country's
beach
properties
(for
$50-60
USD/night).
It
was
easy
to
get
to
Playa
Farallon
along
the
IntraAmericana
highway
from
Panama
City
or
David,
with
Coach
bus
getting
off
on
request
to
exit
Farallon,
then
walking
across
to
the
smaller
bus
stop
and
hailing
a
small
public
white
bus
marked
"Farallon"
for
$0.50
usd
-
0.75
each
or
taxi
$3
usd
total,
to
the
beach
(less
than
10
minutes
from
the
Farallon
exit
bus
stop)
