What an amazing meal. Tons of different little food spots with tons of options. You'll surely find something you'll like. Prices might be better than many seafood restaurants out there.

I absolutely loved this restaurant! Not only was the seafood very fresh (I mean, as in being off the boat for hours... not days). but the prices were quite reasonable and the service was outstanding. Anytime I visit Panama City this will be a required stop. And, by the way, I am not a guy who posts pictures of food but the dishes here were so nice looking that I could not resist.

Sure, it's pretty "touristy" and perhaps a little overpriced, but I expected that going in and was still quite satisfied with my experience. I had 2 varieties of ceviche, some clams and a fried fish with patacones washed down with cold Balboa Beer. The food was delicious, the beers were refreshing and the outdoor seating afforded good people watching opportunities. Would have given a higher score, but I was overbilled and it took 2 attempts to correct the problem. I would recommend coming here, but check your bill and count your change.

There are many food stalls with at least 25-30 booths ALL offering almost the same dishes. I posted a review for booth Ceviche Loco but wanted to add my review for Mercado del mariscos because it’s hard to find the individual reviews for each booth. You will likely be approached by dozens of staff members representing each food stall and it’s quite overwhelming or annoying but just thanks and keep walking and look at every menu before coming back to the one you like. Some reviewers had a bad experience with the food but that is just one food stall out of like 30. They also charge different amounts. I wanted to try the lobster (Langosto). I was quoted anywhere from $35 to $45 for a whole lobster. So look around.... don’t be lazy and go to the first stall that approaches you. This place is a tourist trap in terms of price but not necessarily in terms of quality. Most tourist traps around the world works the same scam. Over-priced food for below average quality and sometimes cheating on the bill or portions or a complete fraud altogether. I chose this place because the lobster tail was just $21. I didn’t want to eat a whole lobster by myself and wanted to try 2 plates, so I also got the langostinos for $14. The girl next to me got a bowl of clams which I regret because it would’ve been a better combination then lobster and shrimp. The lobster(Langosto) in garlic sauce and shrimp (langostino) in garlic sauce both came with fried plantains and a small salad. The tiny cup of ceviche was free but I did not like it. The price would be considered comparable to most American cities. Quality is also good. Total: $40.50 including tax, tip (10%) and bottle water Booth name: Ceviche Loco

Came for the atmosphere. People halk you when you enter. The ceviche at the first stand was very sour but the beers were cheap. Try before you buy. Size small is probably enough. I wouldn’t buy a full plate from there.

If you are in Panama City you can not Miss the fresh seafood served at this location, there are many eateries at this location we ate at restaurante LA PROMESA CEVICHES Y DELICIAS DEL MAR. We asked our Uber driver for a place locals go to eat fresh seafood and he suggested this place OMG OMG OMG they gave us (2 adults) 2 free beers which we passed on and 2 free ceviche (1/2 cup size). When we got our meals they were huge portions and the food was absolutely delicious. It was walking distance from the old city center. We went back, my husband wanted fresh Lobster and boy did they deliver!!!

We went to the fish market, rather than the accompanying restaurants. It was 2 p.m., and many vendors had already closed, so it's probably best to go early in the morning. But not much trouble parking at the time we went. There were quite a few stalls, but not as many as I expected.

Overall super cool place. There's about 28 restaurants in the entire place with tons of options. The only negative is that you get attacked walking through it by the people trying to get you to eat at their place. It's pretty overwhelming.

The food was pretty basic. We were hounded by each hostess walking by the restaurants. The hostess we went with was really nice and gave us some cheap shots, but even after that I didn't think it was worth the hype we received about it.

Fresh & cheap seafood everywhere. You can purchase whatever you like in the market and then bring them to the restaurant outside or upstairs to request them to prepare the way you like w/ an extra fee. In my case, 2nd floor of the market was convenient but it was twice the price of the restaurants outside ($10 vs $5~6 per lb), so decided to bring them out and eat in the restaurant instead. It was hot and humid but the food was delicious so couldn't complain. Definitely recommend this place if you happen to visit Panama. *Footnote : There are vendors selling colognes/perfumes and etc., do not be fooled. They may appear legit but they are all fake.

There are multiple restaurants to eat from at Mercado de Marisco and there is an abundance of seafood options/plates and prices very affordable. Be mindful that there will be a plethora of Waitresses/Waiters that approach you to sell you plates at their respective restaurant, there is no way to avoid this but i highly suggest knowing exactly what you want to eat to help narrow down the pool of people that will swarm you. I would stilll highly recommend.

A must visit in Panama city for seafood enthusiasts. You will find many restaurants next to each other all serving similar menus of fresh seafood. The prices are reasonable but the lobster can be pricy depending on the size. There are plenty of seating areas and sinks to wash your hands.

Great variety of fresh fish and shell fish 🐟 The drawback is that the floor is always wet because of the dirty water of the fish, though at the same time, it is best to maintain the area clean.. Is awesome the abundance of fish at such lower and great price There is a big area in the outside of the market where you can find several independent restaurants that will fight to get your business. Food is fresh from the daily catch.

Initially when we got there we walked around and decided to leave because it was so overwhelming with all the restaurants walking and yelling towards you to tell you to come to their restaurant to eat. But then we knew we had to go back and try again. This time we went to the back end and had one of the most delicious meals we have had in Panama. Seriously would have regretted if we did not stay and try again! The drinks were also delicious and everyone was so nice

Compared to restaurants in nearby Casco Viejo, the Mercado is an absolute steal! Fresh food for beyond reasonable prices! Pick the stand that has the best vibes and enjoy the atmosphere!

Great place to buy fresh fish and other seafood. The only way to get it fresher in Panama City is to meet the boats when they come in with their catches. There are 24 little restaurants next to the market if you want someone else to prepare the seafood for you.

It has a good, fun vibe, but the experience can be a little overwhelming if you don’t know what to expect. Really good seafood. Be ready to practice your Spanish!

The whole fried red snapper was the best meal I had in my time at Panama - holy cow it's so good. Way better prices than in Casco - it's almost entirely locals here. This is the only restaurant I went back to multiple times in a six day trip.

Various seafood restaurants. People will rush you as soon as you enter the gates to come to their restaurants. I like to browse and choose where I want to dine.

We waited too much, more than 40 minutes for our order of 3 dishes to be served. Food is ok, nothing extraordinary. Prices are not cheap. I would not recommend it.

Firstly be weary of what the tour guides may tell you... mine told absolutely not to eat at this market and I should try an expensive "American" restaurant instead.. boy was he ever wrong.. the music, atmosphere, service, prices and quality of food.. highly recommend. It was so jam packed with people we barely got a seat

This was the best experience in a long time. The food was perfectly cooked, the customer service was impeccable, and the freshness of the food. Amazing!!!! Sit at red tables. Color means different restaurants.

Busy place, fresh seafood. We were a larger group of 9 so maybe understandable 2 of our orders were not quite as ordered and 2 of our bills were overcharged but quickly corrected.

I ordered garlic shrimps. If you want to order anything with garlic sauce, do NOT expect garlic to be included in the sauce. Also shrimps are extremely small. People eat very different than other Latin countries. This dish was $14 @ El Arrecife. I do not recommend thus place.

We ate at a seafood restaurant called El Bote Pty. This casual seafood restaurant beside a fish market serves fresh, delicious seafood dishes. I had fried fish, which was cooked perfectly and served with patacones (green fried plantains). The seafood soup was at another level, and the complimentary ceviche was a nice touch. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great seafood meal in Panama City.

  • 5/5 Marta C. 7 months ago on Google
I think the rating of the food may vary on where you go as there is a wide variety of markets/restaurants to try. However, they are all seemingly fresh and cheaper than the standard restaurant in Casco Viejo, which is located nearby. I enjoyed a glass of ceviche with a few native Panamanian beers and it was a great placeholder during a rainstorm!

Foods are amazing good . I have to say it’s better than most of seafood in United States , and much cheaper. Servers don’t really speak English. But they have a lot of patience to use translate to talk . Very nice place, One of the best restaurant in Panama

Fish was super fresh and tasty. They were a little slow but that was expected. I was disappointed because I think with all of the competition they told me they had a type of fish that I wanted just to get me to their restaurant. When I sat down they showed me other fish that they said was "better"

Amazing for authentic Ceviche. Don’t let them lure into a restaurant place you don’t like at first - take a stroll to the back side - it’s where the locals sit more likely and the atmosphere is better

This is probably the cheapest place to have seafood in Panama City. The food is fresh and good. Also, we asked for ' mucho picante' when we ordered so that the sauce was was spicier. We ordered the sea bass and clam with garlic and chili. Every meal is served with a small bowl of cerviche. On the hse. Each stall have almost the same dishes but there are alot of stalls to chose from. I tried a few and was stuck to the 3rd shop from the entrance, where I had both lunch and dinner..including a group dinner. The ambience was also relaxing and open, like hawker style and they have roofing so although it does rain alot in panama city..the seating was comfortable. Also lots of local music and also a good place to catch the world cup games. A must visit!

If you like seafood, this is a must visit. Variety of choices and an opportunity to mingle with the locals if you are a tourist. Lively environment and close to casco viejo and open spaces to walk around after your meal. Prices are reasonable.

Fish market is awesome! 25 different restaurants serving fresh and local tastes! If you want, you can go to the market and pick out your lunch or dinner! Also would recommend getting their local Picante which has a nice kick to it !

  • 4/5 Paolo C. 6 years ago on Google
Love fish markets! This one is not super great but there are a variety of fish and levels of purchasing areas that make it special. The area inside is a bit poor in organization. Floors are wet but it does seem that there s air conditioning in it. But if you go outside and around there s another fish market, definitely "grungy" and more local. Prices are OK.

Ordered the ceviche platter for two, it was dry and presented uninteresting flavours plated on a large exaggerated boat. Service was also extremely slow.

  • 4/5 Dr. Lincoln K. 1 year ago on Google
Great place to eat seafood. You have to plan ahead what "joint" you want to eat at. They have these over aggressive folks who come rushing at you as soon as you walk into the Market giving you little to no time to pick. When you walk in from the main street and go to the last "joint." it's the last one at the Market, you get the best food. I have tried all of them and settled for that one!

  • 1/5 Ricky G. 1 year ago on Google
Ordered lobster n shrimp...both were boiled and heavily sauced and that alone couldn't make it taste good. Both were dry as h*ll. $40 wasted...they can't cook!

I ate 3 times in 3 diferent places. One good experience but I dont recall the name - green chairs restaurant (good food and price, relative to other places in the market). And 2 not so good - Delicias Eni (food average at best) and Ceviche Loco ( bad food and cheating on prices).

  • 5/5 Sandra L. 1 year ago on Google
Great place for seafood... However the vendors can overwhelm you by all vying for your attention to go to their independent little restaurant... we had a recommendation to go to La Pronesa and it was wonderful... in fact they were the only vendor not begging people to come in probably because they were already packed! We visited them twice during our vacation and the quality was the same both times! Good food, drinks and service! Ask for Louie! He's a great host! In fact all the staff were friendly, professional and attentive. Highly recommend!

Great place to eat fish! Surrounded with lots of locals. There lots of promotional people that will try to get you in. First look at all the restaurants and then pick the one with the best vibe!

I went to the first one called El Bote twice , the first time the guy served me and i had prawns 12$ , 2 local beers 3$ and a mixed ceviche 3.5$ =18.50$ , the guy from El Bote charged me 24.50$(his 10% tip included in this) on a hand written bill, i call this a robbery and i shouldnt be the one who challenges them for something that should not happen, it was a simple order! I went the second day too and i was charged properly by the girl with a proper receipt and i also double checked the prices for the things the guy charged me the day before.. not very nice what he did.. on the other note the food was indeed very delicious and fresh and i went back for more but had to leave this review here
