The
most
disappointing
restaurant
experience
we
have
had
since
moving
to
Panamá
six
months
ago.
We
started
our
evening
at
Eolian
for
the
view
and
sangria
and
we
should
have
just
stayed
there.
But
we
wanted
nachos
and
based
on
the
good
reviews
and
the
menu
we
decided
to
try
Casa
Pública.
We
arrived
to
find
a
sandwich
board
advertising
Happy
Hour
to
include
sangria
and
a
hostess
who
seemed
indifferent.
She
seated
us
and
directed
us
to
the
QR
code
for
the
menu.
We
ordered
sangria,
water,
Public
Nachos
(Nachos
con
Pico
de
Gallo,
Chilli,
Queso,
Sour
Cream
y
Salsa
de
la
casa)
and
Empanaditas
(Empanadas
de
Pollo
y
Queso
de
el
País
acompañadas
de
nuestra
salsa
de
la
casa.).
I
should
have
known
it
was
not
going
to
go
well
when
she
asked
if
wanted
chicken
or
chorizo
on
our
nachos.
I
was
so
surprised
I
forgot
the
description
said
chili
and
I
just
said
chicken.
The
hostess
went
to
place
our
order
and
then
came
back
and
told
us
they
didn't
have
bottled
water.
No
problem,
a
glass
of
regular
water
is
fine.
I
could
see
the
bar
from
my
seat
and
I
watched
the
bartender
make
two
glasses
of
sangria
by
pouring
a
shot
of
red
wine
into
each
glass,
then
filling
it
with
grape
juice
and
a
splash
of
water
(from
a
bottle).
No
fruit.
No
citrus.
No
brandy.
Not
even
a
cherry.
When
I
tasted
it,
I
couldn't
taste
the
wine
at
all.
I
would
have
thought
it
was
a
glass
of
straight
grape
juice
if
I
hadn't
seen
her
add
the
single
shot
of
wine.
Our
food
came
out
quickly.
Too
quickly.
Based
on
the
description
from
the
menu
I
thought
the
empanaditas
would
contain
a
mix
of
chicken
and
cheese,
but
it
turns
out
it
was
two
cheese
empanaditas
and
two
chicken
empanaditas.
Didn't
matter
because
they
both
tasted
like
nothing.
And
the
house
salsas?
They
were
mustard
and
mayonnaise.
That's
it.
The
only
nice
thing
I
can
say
is
that
they
were
hot.
So
we
tried
the
nachos.
The
chips
were
stale,
the
chicken
was
cold,
the
"cheese"
and
"sour
cream"
drizzled
on
top
were
room
temperature
and
clearly
came
out
of
a
squeeze
bag.
We
decided
we
didn't
want
to
waste
our
dinner
calories
on
this
food
so
I
asked
for
the
check.
When
the
same
hostess
brought
our
bill
we
were
charged
full
price
for
both
glasses
of
sangria.
She
also
never
questioned
why
we
were
asking
for
the
check
after
only
a
single
bite
of
each
dish.
I
pointed
out
that
the
sangria
was
supposed
to
be
on
happy
hour,
so
she
went
to
go
ask
someone
about
it.
She
walked
outside
to
a
large
party
of
guys
drinking
beer
(with
no
food
-
should
have
been
another
red
flag)
and
apparently
one
of
the
guys
was
the
owner
or
manager.
She
came
back
with
a
new
bill
showing
the
sangria
as
2
for
1,
so
at
least
we
saved
$5
there.
We
paid
the
bill
and
left.
I'm
attaching
a
picture
of
how
the
table
looked
when
we
left
our
essentially
untouched
food
and
drinks.
No
one
cared
to
find
out
why.
We
went
back
to
the
Eolian
where
we
were
warmly
greeted,
provided
with
excellent
and
sincere
service,
and
hot
delicious
food.
They
even
asked
us
how
our
meal
was
once
we
were
about
half
way
through.
We
are
not
beer
drinkers
so
I
can't
speak
to
the
craft
beer
aspect
of
Casa
Pública.
Maybe
that
part
is
good?
If
that
is
all
you
are
interested
in
go
ahead
and
check
it
out.
Otherwise
just
skip
Casa
Pública
and
go
to
The
Eolian
instead.
