Chamera lake is the reservoir of water that is collected behind the Chamera Dam, that was constructed across the River Ravi a few kilometres away from Dalhousie in the Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. After completion of all three phases of the hydro-electric project, this power station generates a out 1000 MW of power for this region. In addition the catchment area of the dam is more than 470 square kilometres. The view point is located high above the reservoir, along the Dalhousie - Chamba road and provides a very scenic view of the lake and it's environs.

Superb place for photography, view of the lake is so wide from this point.

If you’re a tourist and you visit Dalhousie, you must visit Chamera Dam View Point in evening while sun sets! You can’t miss this golden view of Mountains and lake!

Awesome scenery

It was an awesome experience here. Water was so clear & blue. Never seen such clear water. We also did speed boating. Couple ticket charges are 1350/- & per person is 500/-. They also have streamers i.e. normal boats for which they charge 400/- per person. Speed boating was actually the best experience. Totally enjoyed it. Worth the price. Do visit here.

Wow what a serene view. Colour of the lake is sea green which is rare. Whole ravi river is of this colour. It's amazing to see.

Chamera Dam View Point is one of the beautiful point in Or nearby Dalhousie, it comes on the way when you are going from Dalhousie to Khazziar via Chamba. This is one the biggest dam in the area, rafting facilities are also here. People often come for rafting here however the main rafting point is far from this road, for that you specifically need to come to visit this Chamera Dam.

Awesome place with awesome views. Chamera dam is located at around 1.3 hours from Dalhousie. The whole route is quite scenic. The dam provides hydroelectric power and the reservoir is chamera lake. The dam is quite huge when you enter it and is quite a sight. You can snap pictures from my places and capture the beauty of the place. Must visit place if visiting Dalhousie.

Gorgeous lake with turquoise color and clear water. One can get picturesque views on the way to the lake. The lake also has some water activities like speed boating, motor boating, etc. which have a booking counter at the boating point. Although there is a long wait time in the peak season for the boating turn, but it is worth doing. You can have some snacks, fruits, juice and food outside the boating point. Overall such a beautiful place just about 30 km away from Dalhousie. One can easily hire a taxi from Dalhousie to reach this lake. On the way, there are some amazing view points and Rock Garden as well.

Chamera lake is on the way to Khajjiar from Dalhousie via chamba route which takes around 1.2-1.5hrs to reach Khajjiar. And you can see this beauty on the way. Do take this halt surely to enjoy this mesmerizing view. Honestly the whole route is very scenic specially when you pass through the pine forest. Do not miss to click the pictures there as well. Definitely highly recommended and must visit place.

The Chamera is on the way to Khajjiar from Dalhousie via the Chamba route which gives a stunning view and that is very mesmerising. It is around a 1.5-hour drive from Dalhousie, don’t miss getting down at this point and getting some photos clicked.

You can get beautiful photos (5/5), but the feel, vibe are missing and reaching that point is itself a headache. Instead stop on your way to dalhousie at ranjit sagar lake and enjoy its magnanimity. Ranjit sagar lake is almost 50 times larger than chimera. Go only if you want good instagram photos, else youwont miss a thing

Great and refreshing place enjoy the sight of blue waters

Good view during post monsoon period while all trees are shining green. I visited in May 18, and the surrounding area was not that beautiful as in pictures. The hills were all smoky due to several forest fires in that area.

Chamera Dam is situated in Himachal Pradesh on the way to Pathankot- khajjiar Road The Dam form a lake its called Chamera Lake. Must visit in the little early Morning to see the big birds like Eagles, Vultures etc.. If you are bird lover you find Blue whistling bird and mountain chicken its different from other chicken You enjoy a lot and capture natural beauty in your camera pure water, forest, mountain, snow, birds and many more birds
