We ate here after all of the 5 star reviews, but left disappointed. The calamari was delicious, but the chicken was a little dry (with no sauce), as was the lamb. The moussaka was 75% aubergine, so could have done with a little more meat in my opinion. The drinks weren't the cheapest either, especially the apple juice. It was easily the most expensive meal this holiday, but the first one that didn't feel value for money.

Basic average food, but too expensive for that. There are way better Cypriot restaurants. Fresh and local Souvlaki not available, probably only later in the evening (after 7pm). Fresh orange juice was good and refreshing. Staff not very friendly. Overall not recommend.

Thoroughly enjoyable dining experience. An authentic Cypriot open-air dining space with cozy atmosphere. Pet-friendly: we’re allowed to sit with our two small dogs! We ordered the meze Onassis. Each dish was consistently delicious and lovingly prepared. The staff was courteous and patient. Highly recommended!

Came here because of it's high ratings and we weren't disappointed! The restaraunt with a big terrace covered with greens. So it's very comfortable to sit outside. The service is fast, the prices are usual for touristic place, not high. The dishes are big. We ordered skordalia, Greek salad (because of salad I gave 4* - the piece of feta is so small and the put only 4 olives for the whole bowl), musaka (was delicious) and seabass on a grill. Very nice place and worth a visit! Better then a Minas place (close to Hondros) with a higher ratinings.

We ate lunch here on a hot summer day (July). We opted to sit outside under the shade since they had fans working and we enjoyed the view of the grapes above us. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We started with Hondros special salad. It was great since it contained halloumi which we enjoyed. For the main dishes, we went with the lamb chops and the kleftico. Kleftico was the better choice since the meat was more tender. We finished off with Cyprus coffee. I highly recommend you try it at this establishment. Hondros special salad: 8/10 Lamb chops: 7/10 Kleftico: 8/10

Very nice restaurant, cozy terrace under the vines… the food is excellent. Staff was kind… there’s an adorable cat that was sleeping on the bar! I find the restaurant very expensive considering the portion sizes… but everything was delicious, the calamari was so fresh. We got the Imam vegetable dish, also very good.

They say it's the oldest Greek tavern in Paphos, they say nothing else. However, if you ask them, they'll recommend local wines that are light, smooth and fresh - on the white wine you'll taste no acid at all. Try their mese, it's worth it. They talk about it with passion and you can taste its been cooked with passion. The octopus with onion is a brilliant touch, not to mention they source things locally and fresh every day. The calamari is not fried - finally a place where you can taste the actual calamari - and the grilled king prawns slide out of their shell as you might after finishing everything they plate up for you, in the right order, with a hint of advice - we know the bread and the dips are great but wait for the meat - and real passion towards good Cypriot food.

Top notch Cypriot food with a great atmosphere and welcoming staff included🌟 We came here for Christmas lunch and it hit the mark 100%🎯 The vegetarian mezze was varied, every dish presented superbly from the halloumi and dips to the roasted veggies and couscous salad. We also got the spit-roasted lamb souvla which was glorious: all tender, caramelised meat with crispy edges and savoury, smoky fat 😍 The desserts were high class and finished the meal without being too sweet. It started to pour down post way through the meal and the staff were brilliant, running to the rescue, moving tables, plates, children and grandmas to shelter whilst laughing and joking. What a tavern!

Very nice and relaxing restaurant. We started with the mixed dips and pitta bread, which were a delight to sample, fresh and all homemade. Our mains were the meatballs, which come with a rich and satisfying sauce, and the pork cutlet, served straight from the grill. We both enjoyed our meals, and were surprised at how cheap it was.

This spot was recommended to us by our local host and the recommendation was totally justified. Super tasty food, interesting indoors and really nice service. There is also a selection of vege options. We highly recommend Hondros!

A lovely little Taverna with plenty of authentic food options. All three courses were delicious! Staff very friendly and attentive and food was served in timely manner. Taverna had a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend a visit here we will be sure to visit again on our next trip!

If you want a nice quiet evening with good food, this is a good place for you. Though even though it wasn't at all busy I needed to make an effort to get service. If you want real taverna fun with music and dancing, this will not suit you.

The vegetarian meze are really good! They are the dream of every vegetarian. We got pita bread, Greek salad with feta, halloumi, Aubergine dip, tahini, zaziki, mashed potatoes with garlic, spinach rolls, feta with tomato, Aubergine and zucchini, baked potatoes, beetroot and coleslaw

The stuffed aubergine starter was very good. We also enjoyed our mains - fish and lamb! The recommended wine is pretty good! Good service too!

Great food as expected from the reviews. Perfect location with lovely outdoor seating. Staff were friendly and efficient, food arrived fairly quickly. Some of the menu wasn’t available mostly the meze which was disappointing. Lots of cats about like most of Cyprus but just to be aware.

Lovely tavern very unique interior, its open air and above you is real grape trees with fruit hanging, so cute. Also tables and tablecloths are really traditionally looking. You can also see the souvlaki and kebab on outdoor bbq being cooked. There is background Cypriot music too. Bit more expensive then other places we tried around harbour area. My friend had octopus for the first time and she didn't like it she said it was chewy. I tried moussaka and it was lovely. Nice atmosphere cool decorated walls inside about the history of the tavern with some black and white photos. Really cool.

Hidden gem. Fantastic Cypriot classic food items, lovely and large outdoor seating area (indoor seating looked nice but we didn't go inside). Staff were so friendly and talkative. Highly recommended visiting the nearby archaeological site in the morning then stopping by here afterwards for lunch.

Absolutely stunning place. Kind staff and delicious traditional dishes! Usually they recommend to book in advance, but in November it's easy to find a table for 2-5 persons.

Would have liked to enjoy some food and wine at this attractive looking restaurant which had a nice buzzy atmosphere. Sadly after being seated we waited about 15 minutes for someone to offer even a menu. We tried and failed to attract the attention of passing staff so had to give up and leave as we were getting hungry. It may have been an off night and they were short staffed but their attitude when we politely told them on our way out was very much that they weren't bothered at all..

We went to this restuarant in our first day in Cyprus and we were very dissapointed with the food. We tried their pork souvlaki and grilled squid. It really lack taste and the meat was very hard to chew. It seems that it has been sitting in the kitchen for a long time before it was served to us. Definetely not reccomending this restaurant to other people.

A lovely little family run Taverna with plenty of authenticity and oozing charm in abundance. Just a few hundred steps from Paphos harbour, this quaint little eatery offers a friendly smile, cold beers and fabulous food. A definite for all visitors.

So we ordered Greek salad, and 2 main dish. First came Greek salad with bread, and after like 5-10 min both of main dishes, everything was huge and totally worth the money, I personally think that its little bit expensive but you can see the quality that you get for the money. We also got 2 juices and total was 45 euros.

The best traditional tavern in Paphos so far! Small, quiet place with greek music and seating outside. On the entrance charcoal grill where all the meat is being prepared. Amazing food and polite staff! Highly recommend, no disappointment here.

Lovely restaurant. The staff were amazing, cooked Souvla with chicken breast rather than thigh meat when asked, were friendly and jovial in conversation. The food was very fresh and hot off the grill, served quickly. I recommend the grilled feta and tomato starter, the Souvla and the Kleftiko. All in all it came to around €20 each for a starter, a main and a drink which is brilliant for a tourist heavy area. Will definitely be returning on future visits to Paphos!

Best kebab I had! Prices are ok we paid around €100 for two starters, 4 main and 4 drinks, I can say food was more than enough. Service is great if you are patient , considering it's a very popular place and most of the meals are prepared on a proper barbecue and not grilled. Definitely I will go again!

Awesome experience! Everything was absolutely delicious, I ordered the bass with rice and I can’t recommend it more, very tender and juicy meat with surprisingly delicious rice! The staff was very kind and helpful. The only negative is the price, however i’d consider it justified with the experience Definitely make sure to visit if you’d like some delicious food in Paphos :)

What a beautiful and amazing experience! The food is absolutely brilliant, the whole aesthetic of the place is just so beautiful and charming - it's perfect for a cosy dinner with a partner, your friends or family. The staff are really friendly taking time to explain the dishes, the service was just impeccable and it was super quick! The food was just so fresh, tasty, great portion sizes and most importantly authentic! I'd definitely return here and would recommend this place to anyone travelling to the UK, especially if you are looking for something affordable but special, and also real cypriot cuisine. We went with the meat Meze (2 people - go hungry, it's sooo filling), a soft drink each, desert and a 10% tip -- and it came to €33 each.

Awesome fish mezza, extremely filling. Was plenty of food for 2-4 though is meant for 2. As a 2 we finished it, but was a tight squeeze but we rose to the challenge. The food was amazing, hot tasty, and v fresh. Great service and hospitality from the waiters & waitresses. It's not on the main promenade or restaurant area just off a main road further at end of harbour. However it is highly worthwhile, we got their 1830-1900 before a mad rush (mostly locals - good sign of good food). Not that many tourists there. Definitely worth a visit 😋

Another excellent vegetarian-friendly restaurant in Paphos with great service and very fresh food! We enjoyed the fried halloumi cheese, spinach pie, grilled vegetables, houmous with pita, grilled feta & tomatoes, and a couple different wines. This is conveniently located next to the central bus station and near the harbor. They claim to be “The oldest traditional taverna in Paphos.”

We ordered Mousaka, Greek salad and Dolmades. Everything was very tasty. The servicing was also very nice, they were polite, engaging and quite fast for a busy night.

A lovely place for the traditional Cypriot food. We visited twice, once for the meze and another for traditional Greek. Make sure you ask for some roast potatoes, they are the best I have ever had!

Traditional Cypriot cuisine! Quality assurance and tasty from my experience but regarding the price and food quantity it's seems otherwise.

Warm place with a real family vibe. Prices are not the cheapest but the food is really delicious. Great home wine and probably the best squid (calamari) I have ever eaten made that place one of the most recommendable in Paphos.

  • 5/5 Jenny S. 2 years ago on Google
The food here is amazing. My favourites were the moussaka and calamari. We went here 4 times and ate on 3 occasions. If your wanting to go try and get there before 8pm, this place gets absolutely chokka. You can buy a booklet aswell which has photos from the Turkish Cyprus war and is written by the guy who took them photos.
