Still closed - it's a kind of disappointing after the Museum in Larnaka was closed as well. And as it looks like following the notes here it's already closed for a long time what makes it more worse that they are not able to manage - the Archaeological Sites are more boring without the Museum Which Shows the finds from there ..

Quite small, but with a plethora of different archeological findings dating all the way back to 5000 bc. The designer of the museum has done an excellent job with the exhibition. No entrance fee, not the most welcoming personnel.

Amazing museum. Despite the fact that it's quite small, it boasts a great collection of artifacts from prehistoric to Roman times. When we visited it, it was free. The staff of the place is very welcoming and friendly. The museum is quite far from the harbour, where we stayed, but it was definitely worth the walk.

If you’ve taken the time to visit the Tombs of the Kings and the Archaeological dig in Paphos port the museum in the old town is a must. So much history dating back more than 3000 years BC and into Roman times. Well put together, documented and clear displays. Plus it’s free to visit!

Impressive collection from 9.000 B. C. until the Roman era. The presentation of artifacts is clear, well written with context text about the settlements in the Paphos district and the specific objects on display. The size of the museum is perfect for the casual tourist, a visit can take between 30 and 60 min. I found the late Bronze Age exhibits especially moving due to the quality of the artifacts and the richness of the region’s archeology.

Small but very interesting museum that shows the timeline of Cyprus ancient history from Paleolithic to Classical. Nicely organised, detailed descriptions for each main period, a rich collection of everyday objects used in Cypriot antiquity. Very recommended! Ah, did I mention its also free to enter?!

The place is accessible to everyone. Very clean, seems new/renovated and has a great collection of findings, with concise descriptions. There's also some exhibits which are brand new to me, you might learn a new thing or two going there. It's a nice addition to your sight-seeing list. Also nice souvenirs.

The absolutely amazing archeological collection. Very well preserved, very well described. I am the 3rd month here and this is the most interesting museum to understand the human development in Cyprus starting from the 10 000 BC. Tye entrance is free of charge as well!

Having visited a number of archaeological museums internationally with my archaeologist husband: it was OK. Small, but free. There were a few interesting items, but all in all, it was rather underwhelming and there wasn't much that was particularly unique. We went out of our way to visit this area of the city and would have counted it a wasted journey if we hadn't stumbled across the Ethnographic museum nearby. Although you have to pay for entry, it was a much more interesting visit!

Great museum, and it looks great since being renovated in 2020, I believe. We like visiting when we are in Paphos. The items are so interesting and date from 11.000 BC. Fully airconned and there's also a cafe opposite for a cool post museum drink.

(Translated by Google) It is difficult to say anything about the museum itself, you can only say about the outside part behind the bars. The museum has been under renovation for a long time, the opening date has long passed, and the museum is still closed, you can see individual construction workers. There is no information on the closure on the museum's website, the opening hours are given, unnecessary confusion and misleading tourists. From behind the bars, under the shelter, you can see huge collections of ceramics and sculptures. Reportedly, there are numerous artifacts from the Tombs of the Kings and the Paphos Archaeological Park.

07Dec2017: Meant to spend a day visiting museums in Paphos - attracted by European Capital of Culture 2017 rating. We are travellers particularly interested in local cultures and history. We did a lot of walking to find, first that the Byzantine Museum was closed - a local said it was to do with moving premises, then that the Archaeological Museum had been closed ages for renovations. A notice outside said till Nov 2017! Very disappointing for a 2017 Capital of Culture!

Fascinating place. When we were there (Nov '21 weekday morning) it was completely empty. The displays are truly amazing. When you finish your tour there are more findings stored in the museum's back yard which you would probably like to see.

A museum that is definitely worth visiting. Parking spaces are easy to find in the area. Entry is free and the museum is relatively new. The display cases are great so that every artifact is shown to its best advantage. All artifacts are well described.

Pretty small museum, but with some cool artifacts and very pleasant staff. The entrance is free, so I don’t see how you would regret visiting it. Everything was clean, well lit, and displayed in a visible way. The accompanying text is also very readable and in good english. Overall, this museum has my absolute recommendation!

Having visited a number of archaeological sites in Cyprus, I thought I should visit the museum. The first thing to note is that it is free. Each period in time has a good explanation in Greek and English, as do the artefacts. The museum is on one level, very clean, with good lighting, so it is easy to read the information. I arrived at about 12:30hrs on a Saturday. There was no queue to enter. In fact, I was the only visitor for the 1 hour I was there. By the way, I didn't take photos of all the displays.

The ancient history of Cyprus can be found in this well laid out museum. Artefacts found from the earliest civilisation known up to the Roman occupation are individually numbered and displayed in sequence with descriptions. The history is clearly written in English and Greek on wall panels.

Well organised and interesting free museum. Helpful staff. Some very special items - gold and 6000BC stone carved ware. Chronological order makes items more easily understood and helpful for childre. Descriptions in English. I have posted photos of two items amongst many I liked.

A good little museum covering the history of the area, with well displayed finds. Information was clear and concise. Looks like it is quite a new museum/refurbed, with plenty of accessibility chairs/stools for those that need it.

This museum was a great visit! For a free museum this little place is full of cool stuff; whether you’re into prehistory or ancient history. Took us an hour or so to explore the inside as well as the large selection of stone works displayed outside. Definitely worth your time if you are into Archaeology! Cheers, - Travelling band of annoying students.

This museum documents human activity in western Cyprus from the Neolithic age to the 18th century. The artefacts on display were excavated from as many as 15 archaeological sites, including the ancient settlements that predated modern Paphos and the neighbouring town of Kouklia. You’ll get a real sense of location when you see the collection of coins that were minted right here in Paphos thousands of years ago. Each room at the museum represents another stage in the area’s history, so after the Ancient Greek exhibits you can admire the wonderful marble sculptures of the Roman era: The Bust of Aphrodite is a real standout here.
