Once
and
it
is
still
the
dragon
of
the
Pacific.
Often
asleep
most
times
but
when
it
wakes
up,
its
smokin'
nostrils
spews
ash,
dust,
mud
and
rocks
to
about
5kms
up
high
into
the
sky.
Its
thunder
like
sound
so
deafening
that
it
can
smash
window
louver
glasses
at
times.
A
volcanic
mountain
that
buried
its
beautiful
home
town
of
Rabaul,
the
jewel
of
the
pacific
in
1994
eruption
with
the
help
of
its
twin
called
the
'Vulcan'
on
the
other
side
of
the
harbour.
'Tavurvur'
in
the
local
Kuanua
Language
meaning
'Nest
of
hornets/bees.'
The
Barike
Land
now
has
become
ashes
instead.
Let
you
tourists
and
visitors
come
and
see
this
dragon,
climb
up
into
its
Crater
if
you
dare
and
see
and
experience
for
yourself.
Also
see
the
hot
springs
before
you
reach
the
mountain.
