I hope this continues to be maintained, as it contains a lot of important history. There's a lot of very fascinating artifacts from WWII here, and the staff were more than helpful.

Plenty of WW2 memorabilia. It is a pity most of it is out in the weather.

Check out behind the front building. There are some good masks and cultural items. Did as part of a tour and plenty of items to look at.

This museum began in the early 1980's as a small museum at the so called "Yamamoto Bunker" in Rabaul, and was moved to Kokopo to accomidate the growing collection, and in anticpation of a volcanic eruption. The museum's collection was largely assembled and donated by the efforts of Brian Bennett. The original board of directors included: David Lindley, Brian Bennett, Alister Norrie and Dick Joyce. This museum contains a large collection of WWII artifacts from the Rabaul related to the history of the area, including local art & culture, German colonial period, prewar and WWII Japanese occupation.

(Translated by Google) Many war artifacts, such as the Zero Battle, are on display. The artifacts collected from all over Papua New Guinea have a unique atmosphere. You can also see the folk costumes and history of Papua New Guinea. A Japanese jica tourist member guided me through the hall, so I could see a lot.
