I absolutely loved the island. The sands and the ocean are an amazing color. There's plenty of space to walk, swim in the ocean, and do plenty of activities. We tried snorkeling and even though it was pretty cool, we weren't really impressed with the views, but I guess it depends on the area you dive in! There's no reception or free internet on the island, but you can pay for wifi. There's also a gift shop, bathrooms ( they charge $1 for each time you want to go), and you can buy ice cream, food and cocktails ( one of the best margaritas I've ever had, for only $6 each). You can also rent beach chairs for the day, for $14 and you'll get 2 chairs and a beach umbrella for the day ( although there's plenty of space to just sit and lay on the sand with shadow from the trees. Overall, we loved the experience and would definitely recommend the place!

It's a beautiful island that, as far as I know, can only be reached by a boat tour. On the island, there isn't a lot to do as the beach is the primary area accessible to visitors. There is also an island hike, which we didn't undertake, and I'm not sure if a guide is required for that. Everything on the island comes with a fee, even the toilets. The water is warm, and further out, you can go snorkeling, which is a wonderful experience. All in all, in my opinion it's slightly overrated due to the high number of tourists and the limited options, primarily just one beach. There are nicer places in costa rica which are way cheaper and way more accessable :)

Loved this tour. Used Zuma tours and they were amazing. Great snorkeling, lunch on the beach and everything you need on the island. Just bring cash.

Very cool place that is unspoiled. Everything must me taken(food and drinks) by the tour operator and then removed off the island when heading back. The boat ride is long as the boat goes really slow. I did the Island hike and the snorkeling. I highly recommend this tour.

A delightful day trip to a paradise island! We snorkeled, road the banana boat, hiked, imbibed, ate a marvelous lunch and enjoyed the beach. On the way back, we saw manta rays jumping out of the water for extra entertainment.

"A Paradise" I have been blessed with the possibility of traveling around several countries, in some of them I have searched for something unique. In some others I have had great expectations about finding blue or turquoise coastal waters. I am not saying they disappointed me, in fact I loved to get to know other cultures but throughout several trips I came to realize that Costa Rica 🇨🇷 has all I love ❤. Isla Tortuga is a wonderful Paradise worth visiting. Today my friends, my niece and I had one of the most beautiful experiences of our life. Thousand times will recommend this tour.

My husband and i had a wonderful time traveling to Tortuga island with Cosat Cat Company. The staff Eddie, Sébastien, Jordan, and the Captain were all wonderful. I am missing the other gentleman name - my apologies. But overall, we had an awesome time. We saw a humpback whale, dolphins, and peacocks. The buffet was great. The price is affordable and definitely worth the trip. We loved it!

It's the most beautiful island. Highly recommend. I would advise against going on the catermaran that takes 2 hours! It's only a 30 minute trip on speedboat. The other bigger boats take 2 hours because they want you to buy drinks on board.

The beach is amazing. There are two options. Departing from Puntarenas (about 1h in the boat) or departing from Curu (about 15min in the boat). Both are nice.

A fun boat ride to paradise. Tortuga Island via the Costa Cat was a really great way to spend the day. They have a lot of activities (such as snorkeling) but I opted to relax at the beach, enjoy the warm ocean waters, and chat with people at the restaurant. Recommended to bring water shoes as the sand gets really hot and there is some rough stone and sharp shells a little bit out.

The captain and crew are true professionals who obviously put the effort forward to ensure a wonderful and enchanting day at Tortuga. The lunch was outstanding too. I highly recommend this to all!! All of the 5 stars I gave were earned by this outfit.

We totally loved our trip to the island. They had such excellent service the whole time; they were all very friendly and kind. The snorkeling was totally awesome, my only regret was it had to end.

The crew tried hard to make the experience wonderful. The bus ride was fine, the 90 mins on the older exhaust filled cab cruiser was miserable to and from. Then we hopped onto a canoe that held several people. This excursion was scheduled through Norwegian as an easy excursions. We had a recoving, older knee patient and an amputee due to the excursion listed as easy they didn't turn anyone way and some aspects were just totally unsafe. The lounge chairs were under trees about 4 ft tall and so close together they couldn't be moved. The beach was beautiful, fun and clean. Their specific porta potties need help old, dirty, nasty. The food was good, beer a treat and a great adventure except for the unsafe situations where I doubt they're that prepared.

Boat itself was quite luxurious. Different places to sit and enjoy the view, relaxed ride to the beach. During this trip we got multiple small snacks (fruit, cake, fish thingy) and enough to drink. Bottles are not cooled however but rather chilled with ice cubes. So you either get cold watered down drink, or warm with good taste. The DJ that accompanied us was a bit too loud to our taste, luckily on the front deck it was better. In the beach itself it is nicely arranged. Own seats, some activities, bar, food. That was great!

FANTASTIC! I highly recommend this trip. The catamaran ride is about 45 minutes, and we saw whales along the way. The setup on the island is terrific, and the staff is exceptional. The lunch served was excellent and the provided free drinks are okay. You can opt to purchase beer and other beverages from the bar. We enjoyed the snorkeling and the fish along the reef. There is also banana boat riding available if you choose to participate. Remember to bring water shoes!

Tortuga Island is a beautiful place to visit when you're in Costa Rica. Plenty of companies offer this tour, and the prices vary from USD$125 to $150, so make sure you select a reputable one. You definitely get what you pay for. They picked us up at our hotel at 6:30am, drove us to the Marina about 45min away and the boat trip to the island was about 1h30. The tour included a small breakfast, ceviche, fruit, and coffee on the boat, then a buffet type lunch (Costa Rican) on the island with unlimited rum punches! Other activities offered are snorkeling, banana boat, kayaking, and much more. The white-sand beach is beautiful and the waters are calm. There also is a small souvenir shop on the island. Thoroughly enjoyed this activity!

Best 80 bucks I've spent on vacation. Full day excursion. Snorkeling, lunch, and drinks included. Gorgeous scenery, and the staff was great.

I give it a 4 and half stars rating. Would have been 5 if it was a little less crowded. Picturesque beach, beautiful white sand, great vibe. There're few bars on the island to purchase drinks. You can chill under the sun, swim in the beautiful, pristine water, and paddle board out to the other nearby island. There are plenty of things to do. To get here, you have to either charter a boat or book a snorkeling tour. We booked a snorkeling tour, $85 per person, including door to door service and a (castado) lunch.

Had a lovely time at Tortuga Island. Highly recommend coming here and spending the day hiking, snorkeling, drinking, etc. The CostaCat crew was amazing with top notch service. They even brought drinks to you as you were swimming in the water!

Great experience for all. Boat ride to the island with a little shopping there and several drinks in a pineapple lol Fantastic lunch was included Snorkeling away from the island with a little cloudy water but plenty of fish to see. Also walked all the trails on Isla tortuga which was cool to see there was wildlife and beautiful water below

Four stars for the service by a staff second to none in providing us with anything we asked for. The snorkeling and the beach weren't impressive, maybe for this time of year. Again, the boat ride to and fro, the service was AWESOME.

ZUMA tours did an amazing job with this trip. The boat ride was better than the actual island. We saw Hump back whale and a sea turtle. Our guide found puffer fish while we snorkled and my husband got to hold it. The food and cocoloco drinks were great!

Tortuga island was beautiful! You start with the boat ride there, go snorkeling for couple hours & see pretty fish! We also saw dolphins on the boat ride there. To note - everything on the island costs money, if you want chairs, they were like $10US per chair. Also the bathroom cost money to use. Just assume everything costs something on the island ! But the water is beautiful & you can go for a little hike on the island too.

Worth every penny! I wouldn't change a thing about this tour run by Costa Cat- the whole team was great! The activities were great! The food was great!

Staff and lunch were amazing. Beach was okay, watershoes are the ticket. Try to get an open air catamaran, will get a better view on the hour ride there than looking off the boat or an AC cabin. Not much for fish when snorkeling.

Great place to spend a day if youre in the jaco area. lunch was absolutely amazing. snorkeling was incredible, saw hundreds of fish. the hike all the way to the top of the island wasnt too bad and it was a spectacular view at the top.

Our guides on the CostaCat II were great. Plenty of drinks and snacks were available, a lunch was provided, and plenty of activities once we arrived at the island, including snorkeling, a banana boat, and an Eco hike. This was also one place we wish we had picked up more souvenirs because they were some of the cheapest we found while in Costa Rica.

I was looking for a perfect beach day, and this tour did not disappoint! We saw dophins and sea turtles while on the boat ride to the island and it was so exciting to watch them. The island itself offered plenty of very nice beach chairs ($8 each) and the sand beach was absolutely beautiful. The souvenir shop offered plenty of gifts to help memorialize this perfect island beach day.

A really good trip along the coast with some gentle snorkeling at the end. It was well guided and with good equipment, the lunch was delicious with a choice of meat, fish or vegetarian options (we had the fish and vegetarian, all freshly prepared). Highly recommended

Beautiful place, you will find bathrooms, souvenir shop, bar and lots of activities you would be able to rent as paddle boards, snorkeling or bananas. There some tour guides that can take you there. You can also do a 40 minutes hike to have a really nice view of the island

Amazing island and a must go when visiting. We went with Zuma tours who is top notch, the best tour you can get. They cooked an amazing lunch had beers, drinks and endless fresh cut fruit.

Tortuga is a beautiful island that can only be accessed by boat. My husband and I have been there twice with friends and we all had a blast. The ride takes about an hour and a half. Our panga Captain Luis worked in a little extra time so we could troll. Caught black tuna and mackerel that the ladies who run the food tent on Tortuga cooked to perfection for 3000 colones or about $5 - YUM! The island itself is best enjoyed during the week when it's not overrun by tourists. 2 lounge chairs are 7000 colones or US$11 for the day. There's a hike you can take to a lookout point that takes about an hour. Our friends did it and said the vistas of the islands and sea were amazing. The rock formations around the island are full of colorful fish and fun to snorkel too when currents allow and visibility is good. This is a great day trip that you don't want to miss when visiting the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica.
