The park is good, but I don't really like the area that the park is in. Just across the street from the park I saw a crip vs blood wars. There were lots of shots and the police helicopters were everywhere. I wasn't panicking because it was all the way across the street, I was also caught in the crossfire but it was ok because the city told me they would handle it because it wasn't my fault. Overall, good park, bad area.

Lots of homeless people. Picnic shelters are OK. Also right by a major street so lots of traffic noise. Has a small playground that is enclosed by a fence. Typical bathroom not filthy but not too clean either. Has about 3 basketball courts, a few large sand volleyball courts and some baseball diamonds

One of the top parks for sports training in Downey. You can find training for practically any sport. Great trainers here and the amenities are excellent. Clean restrooms and plenty of staff to help you out.

A medium/large park, the park has a new remodeled kids playground, a gym, basketball courts, volleyball courts, baseball field, an elderly workout area, picnic tables, and a decent open field

Great park, but something seriously needs to get done about the homeless that hang out there smoking pot every afternoon. Specially when there's children everywhere doing their sport practices, it's horrible. There's park workers who are supposed to be monitoring the park but instead just sit in front of the resource center in a cart all day parked doing absolutely nothing. Smh

Great local park. Wish they had a tarp over the kids playground to provide more shade for the kids playing. The slides can get really hot

Granddaughters volleyball practice. The gym is air conditioned which is a must in this summer weather. This park host a lot of activities for kids to keep them off the streets and their phones and tablets.

Good safe park with sports going on everyday. Although, increasing amount of homeless that hang out at the park, hopefully they are being taken care of. Great place to have lunch.

Went with for Memorial Day Weekend and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Restrooms are hotel quality clean. Courts, play areas and soccer field are similarly well kept. My only gripe is we got there early only to be moved by a party that rented the overhang which is no problem but some signage which most local parks put out to signify the space is reserved would've been nice. Other than that a pretty nice local park.

Very nice activity room to rent. Really inexpensive a little tricky to reserve online but can go inperson. Tables and chairs included. The hall has lots of counter top space , a sink and a microwave . Had my brother's baby shower there it was a very cute place with friendly staff. Wouldn't recommend for a party of over 50 people. The staff took the trash out for me didn't hover over me or my guests. Great experience ❤

My grandson's plural. Three of them play basketball in the gymnasium at Apollo Park. It's nice enough. Could use more handicap parking but I find that the case most places.

I give three stars only because the picnic area was not clean. Last year was a five star. It was an older gentleman who worked for the park. He came over and cleaned the picnic area. Was very friendly and did a great job. The year before that our company had to pick up a lil trash. This year the picnic area was filthy. We asked the young Man on duty if he could help clean. He gave my coworker a broom SMH. So my coworker swept the ground and picnic benches. After my coworker finished, the young Man came over with a picker . Dude we don't need you lol smh. This is our third year my company has hosted our celebration honoring our Direct Care Staff and Individuals. Anyhoo! We didn't allow this to dampen our spirits. All enjoyed just was disappointed with the upkeep of the picnic area. Hopefully next year we won't have that issue. Or our company will select another park.

Amazing view and it's not too far from the Hollywood sign. Fun drive and nice houses and you can hike but there may be snakes so it's 50/50. Close to the planetarium as well.

Not the largest dog park, but the place is well kept, which in my mind there is both grass and bare areas where dogs can dig a bit. Usually poop bags available and a people bathrooms, although are in the other park of the park!

Nice park with trails, soccer fields, exercise equipment, basketball courts, and a recreation center. Minimal graffiti and bad crowds; like many parks it has its share of homeless people but they're not likely to disturb you. The restrooms aren't valdalized but they can develop a noticeable urine odor. The tax money went to good use and this park is overall a nice place to relax.

The park has gotten better. It would be nice if there was more lighting in the baseball area near the bocce court.

Apollo Park is clean and spacious. I love the benches available for having lunch, events, and the trees provide a shady area. There is more than enough parking space.

Came here for a soccer tournament, the park is very nice. The soccer fields are turf and looked very nice. The park had gazebos with picnic tables which worked out great since we were a large group and were able to have a potluck/gathering that accommodated everyone and also kept everyone dry since it was raining in the morning when we were there. The park has a nice playground designed for kids ages 5 to 12 that had a jungle gym and some swings, it also has a track for walking/running, and an area with outdoor gym equipment free for everyone to use. The park has plenty of parking but there is limited parking on the side where the jack-in-the-box is which is the side the GPS directs you to.

Whenever I visit my relatives that live around Apollo park I always come to the park itself, the park itself is nice. It has trees, a path for running/walking, a playground, basketball courts and volleyball courts. But the city of Downey needs to take care of one thing ruining this beautiful park. The homeless, there are so many homeless people in the park. And usually I don’t mind the homeless, in fact I give them food or money whenever I can. But they are a concern to the community, they smoke weed in the presence of children, leave trash and scare away regular residents. Not only that, there is an apartment complex right near the park where multiple homeless people have harassed the residents. I know because my Niece’s close friend lives there with her boyfriend. I’ve heard that they’ve snuck in the apartments to hide from the police, left feces near the front of doors and most recently stole expensive items from a car. I’ve even seen one myself! He was snooping around the outside of the complex suspiciously, before he got kicked out. The police have been there more then ever. There are dozens of people living in those apartments, but the city won’t let them fence off the property, they’re safety is at risk! My heart feels for the many families who live there. As someone who was assaulted when I was a teenager I fear for any of the young ladies living there. Not just them but the children living there, the elderly and just out right anyone who seems like an easy target. Not only that but the neighborhood right near Apollo park is also in risk. All of this roots back to Apollo park! The city needs to take care of this issue, before something worse happens.
