I recently stayed at the Marriott Saddle brook hotel for a month, and as a Titanium member of Marriott Bonvoy, I had high expectations for my stay. Unfortunately, my experience fell far short of what I had anticipated. First and foremost, I was promised an upgrade upon check-in, but this commitment was not fulfilled by the front desk staff. This was disappointing as I had chosen this hotel with the expectation of receiving the benefits associated with my Titanium status. Furthermore, the condition of the room I stayed in was unsatisfactory. It was not cleaned to Marriott's usual standards, as I found hair all over the place. The room had a persistent stinky odor, and to add to my discomfort, the air conditioning was not functioning properly, making my stay less than comfortable. During breakfast in the lobby, I encountered a rude waiter, which was completely unexpected from a Marriott establishment. This kind of behavior is not in line with the level of service I have come to expect from Marriott hotels. Additionally, the security of the property left much to be desired. I observed broken car windows in the parking lot, which made me feel insecure about the safety of my belongings during my stay. Overall, my stay at this Marriott hotel did not meet the standards I have come to expect as a Titanium member. I hope that these issues are addressed promptly to ensure that future guests have a more pleasant and comfortable experience at this establishment.

Run of the mill hotel that desperately needs an update. Generally run down feel to rooms and bathrooms. Tired feeling to decor especially carpet and walls. It might be fine for business travelers. Not a good reflection on Marriott's generally crisp and welcoming brand.

M Club Lounge was closed due to a private event. We were three people. We were told Breakfast would be included for all of us as a result. Get to breakfast and the employee says it only covers two. Not an issue since I don’t eat breakfast anyways and likely only would have gotten juice and maybe some bacon at most. That said, was unhappy with the inconsistency of the information I received. Also, I booked specifically a Marriott for M Club so I was sad to see it closed. Room was dated and smelled musty as well. One of the least satisfactory Marriotts I have ever visited.

I had no issues. Front desk agents I interacted with were friendly and knowledgeable. The hotel is definitely showing its age, and they are currently renovating. But it was petty clean and good smelling. Dunkin is across the street, and they have a bar restaurant on-site.

This is probably the worst Marriott I’ve stayed in. When we arrived no one acknowledged us. When we were walking down the aisle to our room there was a strange//musty//old odor in it. There was a wedding party somewhere near us that had to be told to keep the noise down (I assume) by the front desk, yet the situation never got solved. The rooms looked dilapidated. The couch and rugs had stains in them. They don’t have basic free amenities like wifi or a simple free bottle of water. Yes, they charged us $20 for a bottle of water. Most hotels would have a sign saying this bottle of water cost more than a meal don’t open it unless you are dying. They also do not offer free parking. I understand some hotels now charge for it, but for the hotel price and their huge lot, they should lower the price or offer it for free.

Friendly staff that are welcoming as soon as you arrive. Clean comfortable rooms, wonderful bar and restaurant. Had a cheeseburger and fries that was absolutely delicious.

I booked this hotel prior to reading the reviews, and they honestly had me pretty nervous about my choice. But I must say my stay has been flawless. My room is brand new, fully renovated and spotlessly clean. I also have a really good view of the NYC skyline. My check-in was smooth and the front desk associate was really friendly. I would happily stay again and suggest you try it for yourself.

I was apart of the wedding block 5/20/23 and didn't receive shuttle/hotel info from desk agent until I saw someone else get one and had to ask after being checked in. bartender told us he was "too busy" to wait for us to decide what we wanted and that he was leaving. the bar was practically empty. rooms were outdated but amenities were well stocked. location was very close to the reception venue.

First, second, and third floor rooms are open directly to the swimming pool. Noise and smell are incredible. I went to front desk seeking help, they were not friendly nor helpful at all. If you don’t mind sleeping in an elementary school like situation, this hotel is the one for you.

Relieved that it was a short stay. Was initially disappointed that we were given two queens when we reserved one king, there was hair on one of the pillows at check-in, and almost no toilet paper in the bathroom. Housekeeping also had to be requested, daily. Maybe it's a post-pandemic labor shortage, but a giant company like Marriott ought to pay their staff more to keep their "4-star hotels" adequately staffed/serviced. Everyone I spoke to about the hotel who was attending the wedding shared similar disappointments with their rooms. The location was at least very convenient so we spent little time at the hotel and plenty having fun at the wedding venue!

Major Privacy Issue:Marriott Gold Elite Member Been at several hotels: Never in my life have I had a concierge loudly knock my door at 12:25 AM because of a TV that was at 35. I said I’ll lower the TV no problem. But then I called front desk to clarify, I wanted clarity on what sound level is acceptable and are the rooms sound proofed at all, he yelled at me saying it’s not sound proofed. I liked Marriott overall but me, my companies and employees will not use them. And I will complain with consumer affairs. At no time did I yell or be rude. Yet I’m getting attacked and harassed during my “comfortable” stay?

We always stay here when we have our family Christmas party. It's a great place for a group due to the large bar area. They also have a breakfast buffet that was actually pretty good. Not a huge buffet fan, but the food was great. Great location in proximity to Met Life too. We will be back next year.

Stayed here on business. Hotel is old and smells unpleasant. Room was out dated. Stains on chair, smears on shower glass. Light switches and vents all have brown/black grossness around them. Toilet was school house style and was unsanitary. Was woken up at 4:04a from a loud screeching noise coming from the AC vent. Two stars for pleasant staff at front desk and fluffy pillows.

My family and I travel a lot and stay at Marriott hotels, and this is far by the WORSE hotel I’ve been to in a while. The rooms and hotel are outdated and have an odor. I have a 1-year-old, and there was no electric covering on several of the outlet plugs. When I showed the photo (see below) to the front desk, I was told that they were preparing for renovations, which was why it was not covered. That’s a safety hazard! I definitely will not be staying here again. This location does not measure up to the standards of the Marriott brand

The room could use some updating. Thr air conditioner needs some work. It was really hot in the room at one point and took some time for it to cool off even though the thermostat was on the lowest setting. The pool area was freezing.

The rooms were nice sized. There was a refrigerator in my room, the bed was comfortable and I slept like a baby. The rain shower was awesome and soothing to tired muscles they have a pool.

I travel on business every week and often stay in a hotel. I stayed in this hotel for the first time. The environment was very good, but when I checked out at 10:00 this morning, I said to the front desk, ”Good morning, I‘m checking out now, thank you.“ The front desk glanced at me and nodded to me. This service attitude made me feel uncomfortable.

Checked in just to find hair in bed. Went to wash before bed to find old disgusting pee in toilet!!!! Call front desk to change rooms which they did. Ask if someone can bring us new key was told everyone left for the night and he was alone. Packed up all our clothes and my special needs son go downstairs to find 1 employee and manager standing there. Horrible experience. Bathroom was never cleaned and rooms are outdated and definitely not up to par !!!!

This place sucks. So I am not sure where to start. Let’s start with the only 2 elevators to service 11 floors and their inability to keep them working ON AN HOURLY BASIS! Next we can go to the restaurant/room services. There is no on-line menu, no QR code to access the menu in the room. I think I saw one in the elevator that is not currently working. The hotel is undergoing a sadly needed renovation. So if you aren’t in a renovated room you can expect less than Marriott brand standard. In fact I thought moving here from a Residence Inn would be moving up. Well, I was wrong. I was not in a renovated room and the best description I can give is tired. The premiere (M) lounge is closed on weekends. Unfortunately, also when I was there. Never had these issues at the Marriott Teaneck. A sister hotel that I find to be head and shoulders above this place. The bottom line is I would not book here again. This is not on the staff. It is on the operator/owner.

Walked in to order a room, simply they just wanted the money and no details or information was said to us about the rooms. The worst part of it I went to use the microwave overheard a conversation with the manager and a employee on the phone, the pool was not clean and hasn't been clean! Not realizing I was a customer and stood there still having this disturbing conversation! My friends (GIRLS) the next day were uncomfortable and had a reaction. NOT coming back here!!

Showers don't work. You get either scalding hot water or cold no in between. The faucet for the shower is not even attached to the wall. It had bad caulking around it. Rooms were said to have large beds walk in, and you get full-size beds. The wallpaper looks like a blind man, put it up. The outlets at the bedside didn't even work. The A/C barely worked as well Avoid this place.

Stayed for one night. The bed was comfortable and shower was good. Chairs were awful and worn out. Trying to work at the desk with an awful chair was very disappointing and there were no USB ports either. Bathroom did not have any hooks for towel or robe. Tried to order room service several times and gave up - called front desk and when they connected me to room service, I was told the call could not be completed. Ended up using Uber eats. You also pay for parking $20 a day which was not made clear to me when I made the reservation. Next time I’ll spend an extra hundred dollars and stay at a decent place. I don’t like leaving bad reviews but being so disappointed I felt I had to share. The place needs a complete overhaul.

I have spent over 10 days trying to get some personal property back and the staff just keep giving me the run around. Whatever you do don’t accidentally leave anything here the staff are very uncooperative in helping you get your items back. They waited 10 days to tell me that I had to create a shipping label and email it to a Maria Lopez. After doing so I had to wait a further 2 days before she was even in her office and even when she was it wasn’t treated as a pressing issue. I stay at Marriott exclusively for work and spend a large amount of money in the process. This location will not be one that I use again after I finally receive my property back.

This was my first time staying at a Marriott chain and it was not a pleasant experience. Check in was easy but I booked two rooms a month in a half before my stay and I find it weird that I was not able to get two rooms next to each other. My elderly parents had to stay on another floor than I was. The room at night gets very hot and even with the thermostat down it does not help, having no other choices you just have to withstand it. Also there was no bottled water in the room so when I got thirsty around 4am I had to go to the vending machine at the end of the hall but these did not work either ( tried 4 floors) so now I had to go down to the shop in the lobby. The water that comes out the bathroom tap was a milky cloudy color, maybe it was too aerated maybe it wasn’t but I was not trusting it. I also was not offered any help with transport of my luggage like I am offered at other hotels. When I requested a trolly to pack my stuff to leave, the man who brought it kept telling me to do it faster because someone else needed one. Lastly when time came for breakfast I was told that it was not complementary which I assumed was included in my room package, they then said it was $25 a person so instead of $25 for mediocre hotel food I went to the diner nearby. I was not pleased with my stay and I feel like I got the bare minimum even though I paid $850 for two nights two rooms

I read a lot of bad reviews and was skeptical. We stayed 2 nights for a wedding in the area. Staff were very friendly, room was very nice. We didn’t have a refrigerator or microwave so we called the desk and they carted one up to our room. Like any place you can always find issues but I didn’t have any. Ice and vending machine were at the end of the hall and they worked well. Plenty of parking. I would stay here again

Nice lounge area downstairs. The room was basic. Coffee maker looked absolutely gross. The AC unit was very loud and ran constantly. No safe in room to lock up valuables. Sheets were clean and bed did the job.

  • 2/5 Mark S. 1 year ago on Google
Positives:. Nice location, good staff, reasonable price point. Negatives: LOUD - thin walls make sounds permeate throughout the entire building.Given this hotel is a frequent wedding venue the clientele can be loud in hallways. AC units take a while to cool rooms leaving a very stuffy feeling.

The hotel enjoys a convenient location near major highways, ensuring easy access for travelers. The rooms offer a comfortable stay, although they do not boast extravagant amenities. During our visit, we were assigned a room on the 9th floor with a view of the highway. Consequently, the sound of passing cars was noticeable, especially during the night.

Booked a week in advance. Arrived late night and the place was terribly noisy from the bar that we could not hear each other trying to check in, that wasn’t the main issue and it happens. Was told I will be getting an upgrade upon arrival with my platinum card and did not. Not the end of the world. Walked into a totally dated room with a 1 star motel feeling with one of the beds not completely fixed and a total of two towels. That was a throw off! I raised my concern to the front desk and was told they were booked and will change rooms in the morning. Used only one bed till the morning and when I called I was answered with one heck of an attitude by the front desk lady! No we do not have other rooms, no we do not have upgrades upgrades, will clean the room! I have stayed at the Marriott's across the world many times but by far this is the worst and should be classified as a 1 star motel! I advise you look into better and cleaner hotels if u happened to be in the area!

September 2022. This was the hotel that was reserved for a wedding reception at the Venetian in Garfield. One of three elevators worked -made for getting up and down to your room a painful. The first room was filled with the order of cigarette smoke. It was so bad I could enter the room. When I returned to the lobby to report the issue, the man at the front desk gave me a look like I was crazy and said that no one smoked in this hotel, but did give me another room. Room #2. The AC was on high and at a very low temperature. You could control the fan speed or the temperature. At this point I was furious. We arrived at the hotel approximately 3pm and left for the reception about 5pm. Returning from the reception around 1pm, we packed our bags and left. I tried explaining the situation the desk clerks, but they were far to busy playing on their phones. As I left I said I expected a full refund. The refund was issued promptly with no problems - only good thing that happened. I believe the staff does know about the issues, but either can't or don't care to address them. Because this is the closest hotel to the reception venue it is always busy - so I guess they figure they don't have to address anything. Only other good thing was location to the GPS. I contacted Marriott directly - they didn't seem to care either!

The rooms are fine - they have a small ish TV with connectivity to your streaming app of choice, but the hardware for it is incredibly outdated so don't expect it to load quickly. The bathroom is a tad small, and doesn't have anywhere convenient to hang your clothes. They do keep the rooms very clean though and the staff are very nice

  • 4/5 Carter G. 1 year ago on Google
I would stay here again just for the awesome water pressure in the shower and how comfortable the bed was. That being said, the hotel is very dated and in desperate need of a remodel. The most annoying thing is that they still have the magnetic stripe key cards which get wiped by being near any metal or electronics so I basically had to get new cards made every day.

Went here on Friday of Christmas weekend. The hotel is older but the rooms are nasty found stains on the covers, the beds are so low you might as well be on the floor. Bathroom had stains in the shower and on the sink. This place is a borderline drug house and the pics on their website are not real everyone who was there wanted to leave. We was lucky we went through Hotwire and they gave us a refund most of the people who book with the hotel couldn’t even get in touch with the manager and left the young lady at the front desk to deal with irate customers and she wasn’t even experienced because we asked her if we could change rooms she said there was no more rooms and then double held a charge on my card. When we asked the girl if she can help us she said she doesn’t work the desk normally. This is terrible the town of Saddle Brook would allow such low standards in the town with a place like this.

The rooms were nice and clean, just a tad bit on the small side. Plenty of parking in a big lot. The pool was really nice offering a shallow and deep side and the fitness center was really good.

Clean & well looked after hotel. Nice local bagels shop around the corner left at the jug handle intersection if you want to walk further than Dunkin Donuts. Good parking. I was a wee bit disappointed the pool wasn't open before 9:30am on Sunday.

Not a bad hotel, I am not going to say it's especially fancy but it's serviceable... the rooms were clean, and it was nice they offer breakfast, but aside from that there was nothing especially great about it. The building is old and has not been truly renovated it has been maintained but is starting to show some wear and many of the common areas look dated but not in a charming way. The pool area is especially dated being inside the hotel with rooms overlooking it making the entire area surrounding it smell of pool chemicals and feel damp. The pool lacks any privacy, when I was there people were standing outside their rooms overlooking the pool sort of loitering. Not that a pool should be truly private but if you were going to be the only one in the pool it's likely you would have an audience of non pool goers. It is close-ish to the city which is a bonus but its still a bit of a drive. I guess the end result is if you need an inexpensive place to stay this may fit the bill, but if you are looking for a great place probably look elsewhere.

Decent & quiet hotel But…. the fob/Key is faulty,Internet is basically non existent, the sink clogs up quickly, The thermostat legit doesn’t work or hardly works and the toilets could use a good cleaning. Also upon arrival we didn’t have toilet paper….Last and not least we had a decent tv…. But the remote didn’t work L…O…..L

First off, let me start with this. The place STINKS like cigarette smoke & expired Munster cheese. We checked in, which in great surprise actually went smoothly, but I find it very ironic there is “no smoking signs” yet my room smelled like someone chain smoked 12 cigarettes in 15 minutes. Now let’s get to the overall quality of the room. Absolutely awful, the toilet ran for 3 minutes straight after it was flushed, the bathroom fan doesn’t even run, the hot water handle was leaking on the sink & not to mention the outdated furniture. I would recommend you sleep under your car in the parking lot then spend your hard earned money at the Marriott. Truly & utterly disappointing, would like a refund but I know I have a better chance of getting a phone call with the president. Good luck to you all !

Definitely in need of a face lift, this Marriott offers reasonable rates and a nice dining experience. Hallways and rooms are pretty dark with heavy wood doors. BUT there is an indoor pool! So if you need to entertain the kiddos, this could be your spot.

It is a standard hotel. Although, the staff was very accommodating and respectful. If you need something, ask. We were supplied with hygiene products. They extended our hotel voucher after being stranded in the airport. We were very grateful for our experience. 🙏

Had been staying in Paramus, but the Bonefish Grill attached to the hotel is always too busy and has a wait. Decided to try Saddle Brook as it is the same distance from our office. Much prefer this hotel. Rooms are larger, staff is friendlier, and bar/restaurant has always had a seat the few times I've stayed here. Recommended it to co-workers that also travel to here and they prefer it as well.

This is in a very good location with a lot of restaurants within a 10 minutes drive. The mall is close by, There's a lounge within the hotel for elite members which very cool. But dinner in the lounge could be better, breakfast was okay. There's a restaurant in the hotel as well. Clean and comfortable room. Service area were very clean.

Everything about this hotel is outdated. The $18 enhanced internet was super slow and unreliable. One side of the mattress was completely sunk-in. Room did not have a refrigerator, it was sent after asking for one, but it was leaking water.

It’s pretty good! Our hotel room was perfect I wish that the bathroom was in a different location or just street it was weird how it was positioned like the toilet but I guess there’s nothing I could do about that also a weird thing was that there was a beam in my shower just kind of on the side I found that slightly strange. I want to give it a three out of five but I’m giving it four because The employees here really are so funny and sweet very nice and also I loved how the police was just minutes away from the venue at the Venetian. We had breakfast on our thing but we didn’t end up using it and we didn’t use the pool either but I heard it was pretty nice from the other guests.

Completely unprofessional! Tried to have this hotel earn my business for a room block. Was told I was going to be quoted by the end of the day- it’s been over a week with no quotes. Left numerous voicemails with no avail. Avoid this hotel at all cost. I’ve been to many great Marriott’s, but this specific one is a nightmare. Avoid at all cost!

A Marriott but with glaring issues. - The bathroom door of the room doesn't close. - The front door needs to be slammed for it to close. - There is a standing lamp near the chair but no place to plug the lamp. So, it is standing like a show piece in the room. - The shower head is terrible - it throws water all over and very little falls on you. All in all, not what you would expect in a Marriott. Very disappointed 😞

I absolutely had the worst experience at this hotel. I travel a lot so I stay at a lot of hotels, so I know what good service looks like. I noticed from the moment I stepped in I was never greeted and I had to wait to be acknowledged despite it being slow. At first I was given a horrible room that I could only enter by the stairs because apparently the elevator couldn't take me to my room because of renovations. I had a bunch of suitcases and I to take them all up the stairs by myself, I asked for someone to help me - all I got was someone to show me my room. It was weird dragging all my suitcase without anyone to help. It was also really weird to walk in the lobby and see employees arguing and yelling at each other... definitely wasnt pleasing to see. I was really looking forward to the gym. When I asked if there was a gym I was told "yes" only to get to the gym and realize it's under renovation. After asking 2 employees I find the so called "Gym" for it only to be a small office room with like 2 treadmills. Very disappointing, the receptionist didn't even tell me its under renovation. In general is was a very eerie environment, it wasn't friendly at all. The guy at the reception was also very cold despite me being very friendly. Very disappointing. The employees need to trained and know how to interact with customers especially when miscommunication or misunderstandings happen, jumping to conclusions and treating customers with disrespect and being rude in general is never okay. I love The Marriott and I usually have great experiences with them, but this specific location was just disappointing!

The front desk staff were extremely unprofessionally communicating with us! They were not helpful at all and rude! We had to stay two nights and every night there was so much noise from people in the hallway!! The second night I called the front desk because the people right next door were so loud until 2 am! Guess what, there was no one at the front desk to respond! The chlorine and the humidity were disgusting at the first and second floor! Honestly, we know you are renovating but the customer service is horrible! It has nothing to do with renovation! Please put some work on training your employees especially those at the front desk!
