The best combo of backwater and beach! If you have a drone this is the recommended beach to get stunning shots. Best thing I found is, it transforms its coastal structure on seasonal changes, that give you different feels on every visit.

Incredible Landscape here where the backwater meets the Sea lined up with numerous coconut trees. It's a very beautiful place. While the backwater side may be calm, the sea here is very rough and so please advise caution while venturing into the sea. Although the water is clear, cleanliness is a cause of concern in the walkways.

Serene and beautiful coastline. The beach can be crowded at times but then you can walk down the coast and find yourself a peaceful spot. Worth the visit!

Nice place to enjoy evenings with friends. You can enjoy the scenic beauty of backwater as well as sea from here. The vast beach is one of the major attraction. It is a good place to bring children.

Amazing beach for back waters and sea. This is perfect place to bring kids. The back water level was not deep at all. Hardly 1 feet. I saw people coming with kids and letting them enjoy in the water. The views are also good.

A place not to miss if you’re in Varkala! You get to see the backwater on one side and the sea on the other. Lovely place. The best time to visit, is sunset or early morning!

Beaches in varkala are more clean and transparent. When it comes to Kappil, we have both back waters and sea connecting. We do have water activities.

Almost 8 Kilometers away from Varkala in Thiruvananthapuram, lies the tranquil haven of Kappil. Kappil is a beautiful beach-backwater destination located near Varkala, the famous tourist spot. A drive through Kappil is as scenic as it can get; the road is flanked by the azure blue of the Arabian sea on one side while the serene waters of Edava Lake is on the other. The long coconut palm groves swaying in the winds, the golden sandy beaches and the rocks shielding the shores from the waves make it a perfect beach destination. The backwater ride is another interesting option for recreation. Enjoy a ride on the houseboat and see the distant sun setting in the horizon or the simple village lives of the fishing community. Row / pedal boats are also available. Visiting Kappil beach gives double the pleasure of beach and backwaters.

Its a nice and calm beach and less crowded beach unlike Varkala beach which is less than 5km away from this beach. This beach is a perfect spot for pre and post wedding photo shoots. Can enjoy moments with your loved ones with no one disturbing you. And the main specialty here is the water which is calm and not so deep and unlike other beaches the water is a little transparant which may be due to the light blue color of the water. Its a must visit place if you are coming near Varkala.

KAPPIL is a tourist place in Thiruvananthapuram district , Kerala, India. It is located in Edava Panchayat of Varkala Taluk at the coast of Arabian Sea. It is 8 km (5.0 mi) north from Varkala city centre. Varkala Railway Station is the major railway station near Kappil. Scenic backwaters, beach and facilities for watersports are available. Nellatil, Edava, Paravur, Nadayara, Varkala etc. are locations in the vicinity which are worth visiting. Sprawls across 25 acres of land, the thin line of sand beach separates Edava-Nadayara Lake from the Arabian Sea. Swimming, water sports and Sun-bathing are famous activities at this spot. Boating is available in the backwaters of the lake at Priyadarshini Boat Club and Lake Sagar Boat Club near Beach. Dolphins are an added attraction on the Kappil Beach. Visitors get maximum privacy in this beautiful spot. It's suitable for family, friends and couple hangouts. The beach is beautiful as well as dangerous too. 7 tourists were killed in heavy tides till now. This place will be moderately crowded and there's no specific season too. Evening time will be the best time to visit this beach - you can enjoy the magical golden sunset here.

One of the best beaches in kollam, recently went up in popularity because of the calm Lake on the other side which is ideal for swimming and chilling. Water although is salty is still clear and clean and can calm down anyone in an instant. Tends to get get really crowded in the evenings nowadays, but guess what morning is the ideal time to visit. Dew drop covered leaves kissed by beautiful sunrise, perfect place to clear up the mind and get the day started.

Kappil 》》Sea, Lake, Bridge, Pine Trees, Estuary, Boat & Jelly fish in one line. Kappil beach is a must include place for those on a Kerala Trip. Despite being located in Paravoor, Kollam district , Kappil beach is very closer to the people of Thiruvananthapuram.

Combination of sea and backwater. The sea is a beautiful cyan color and the water is crystal clear. Please do not litter around with plastics and take your plastics home and be responsible. People were asking whether we were at goa or pondicherry viewing the pics. Beautiful beachfront resorts are also available with superb views and direct beach access nearby. But no life gaurd facilities and the beach is notorious for missing persons. Locals warned about not dwelling too much into sea,it has a history of number of deaths.while visiting varkala its ideal to rent a scooter(6 kms from helipad) and visit at evening for a beautiful sunset view and a walk.A must visit place😍

Kappil Beach is where the Kollam backwaters or the lake meet the sea. The palm tree lined road winds through the small villages with the sea on one side and the lake on the other. The whole line of beaches all along the road from Varkala to Kollam is beautiful. The beaches are clean, white sand, and nice breeze. Mostly uncrowded except Kappil Beach, which is a popular local spot. The waters are clear but can be dangerous because of the big waves and the current.

One of the good beach surrounding paravoor. It is really peace and quiet. You can play with your family or kids as much you want.. But nowadays it become like couples shelter.. I Been With my wife there on 6th October 2023 and it's a working day but I found so many unmarried couples and school girls and boys there cut there class and take place in tree shadows, hope you understand... The beach is really amazing, and keep your mind blowing experience..

Please do not miss this place if you go to varkala, it's a 15 min ride from the main city and amazingly pretty. There is backwater on one side and beach on the other. Not at all crowded and like a private beach. Gmaps shows the distance a bit incorrectly, keep riding ahead and a entry area will come.

So dirty and full of garbage it ruins the charm of the place. Would be nice to have some garbage bins around, oh wait there are! Maybe stop being lazy and put your own garbage into the trash can or take it back with you. Nature isn't your bin.

Normally the beach is very serene and crowded.the approach road is also very beautiful with backwater on one side and sea on the other. There is just one shack near the beach selling fresh fruit juices and some snacks, salads. So better carry your own refreshments.Just on the other side of the road there is a boating facility on the backwaters. Children park, children adventure, boating, its very good place for family..

Beach is too good. Govt has done nothing for its development. Lot of visitors and rude police officers take the peace away. (may be it's a weekend and police consider everyone with same eye). I saw they lathicharge people who are on water. This is not good for a tourist destination. Govt can employ people to do crowd management and not like treating people like criminals.

Minimal shops and commercial places - only icecream vehicles are seen. Restaurants are only 1 or 2 4. Couldn't find safely measures in the sea

While the red cliffs of Varkala beach prove to be a popular destination among tourists, there is another beach which is quite close by which provide breath taking scenery. The cliff here looks more ravaged by the constant battering by the seas and have a rugged look. The best place to stop is about 700 metres after the Edava railway cross where you a row of tiled roof sheds by the beach and a cemented track used by skaters in front. You can walk down to the beach and just keep an eye out for the rough waves.

  • 4/5 Ramy 2 years ago on Google
One of my favourite beach & estuary. It's nearby Varkala beach and you like to walk by the beach you could reach Varkala beach from along the shores it would take some hours but would be unique experience for people who love beaches. To avoid repetition of common positive reviews and I'm just saying it's true what you read and see on the pictures. Here most people from nearby areas try to catch fish from the nearby lake.

Lovely beach with water on both sides. An amazing place to drive in between the sea and the lake. The beaches here are almost empty and are very clean. Clean water on both sides. One of the beautiful beaches of south kerala. Hidden beauty which is unexplored by many people. Beautiful beach and where we can have a sunset. Not too shops nearby. A long road where we can enjoy the sea. Not crowded.

A Beautiful Beach in the Shores of Arabian Sea. Not much far from Varkala, is an easy Accessable place where you can drive in. The Drive with Lagoon on one Side and Ocean on another side is really Awesome😍 The Pine type of Forest near the Beach too is an Added Attraction. And the Meeting Point of the Lagoon and the Sea separated by Rocks is the most spectacular view. It's a Good place for Bikers, where you can try a lot of Off-roading stuff. And to take Pics where the Waves shattered on the Rocks behind you is too adventures. A wonderful Place to Visit👍 in the God's Own Country💫

Gorgeous beach, with backwaters on one side and the sea on the other. The coolest part is where these two waters meet, so you are standing in the calm backwater while waves crash in. Tragic that there's so much trash and plastic though. Really ruins an otherwise scenic spot.

A beautiful connecting the districts of Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam in Kerala. Beautiful place in Kerala where very nice clean and beautiful sea and backwater meet. There is a boating facility at Edava Nadaira lake right next to Kappil Beach and the cost is Rs 1000 for an hour boating trip for 10 people. Perfect place for holiday trips and one day trip. Because there are many pine trees near the beach, wedding photoshoots are mostly shot here.

Best place for you if you are a sunset lover. One can see the both ocean and backwaters on the other side. Beach is not commercialised yet, hence a bit dirty. Few ice cream stalls are there. Has good parking space.

Great view of both backwaters and sea. Must try place if you visit varkala. During monsoon this place will looks greater. But if you are going in other seasons ols take umbrella with you. Small refreshment juice shops available at a very good reasonable price. Beach shore is very neat and clean. We can enjoy the view fully. Last time when we visited, we witnessed our Indian army camp doing some rescue mock ups on yhe backwaters. It was great.

Away from the regular cliff side beach this place has a planned sit out just like Marine Drive(not exactly). Evenings here can be quite fun with food carts coming over. Yet this place needs some hype to the crowd.

Scenic backwater,Pristine beach with natural beuty and a soothing atmosphere makes kappil beach a favorite destination for tourists.Stunning view of sea waves from the shore of a lake is mesmerizing.. The beach is closely located to a part of Edava Lake. This place is famous for it's various sports activities like Speed boating, Kayaking, Normal boating, Swimming as the part of thr lake is too shallow, even childrens can enjoyy a summer evening here with lot of fun activities. Boating is affordable starting from 100 rupees...The most mind blowing scene is long road of kappil between the scenic backwater on one side and other side with a roaring sea.. Location: Kappil beach road, Kappil,Kerala. Timings: The beach is open 24 hours and 7 days of the week. Price: No entry fee.

Kappil beach is more lengthy than other beaches in the varkala. This flourishing bluish water highly attracts the visitors. The beach was maintained eco friendly by the tourism department. The beach road segregates the beach and backwaters. That view was very delightful to the eyes. It is a must explorable place in the varkala.

Try visiting Kappil Beach Road if you're planning a road trip or heading to the south side, Varkala, or Thiruvananthapuram. The ocean is on one side, the Kappil Pozhi is on the other, and a road runs across the middle, making for an amazing scene.

It's a nice place to go with your friends or family. We can swim near the joining of the lake and sea and it's very shallow. The tides are not very strong. Have to mention that the sunset view is absolutely crazy.

Varkala has been known for it’s unique placement of beach along side cliffs. Varkala has now become quite commercial and sort of lost that serene beauty. But if you still wanna experience the old Varkala vibe, Kappil beach is your place. I’d recommend start walking/hiking alongside the beach on the cliff. I’m sure you’d love it and would love to visit this place again.

Friends Fine beach view. You will see a lot of people trying surfing on this beach. It is 4 km ride from Varakal Beach. There was one restaurant on a cliff there. You can see fishermen fishing and returning if you go early in the morning.
