This oasis is a beautiful refuge from the dusty and often dirty neighborhoods of Ica. Here you can relax and enjoy the beauty of the serene water. Lots of beautiful photo opportunities here for photographers. Unfortunately, it is the last of this kind in the area. There used to be several of them but they have all dried up. Huacachina will do so as well very soon. The water level has already dropped dramatically. The town of Ica has used up all the ground water and even grows grapes in the desert. Needless to say, that this is not sustainable and will destroy the last natural water reserve and this will also probably be the end of the tourist business in the area.

Good place for a day, not much more to do for longer. Very sad how smelly the laguna is and that all human waste goes into it. How full of plastic sand dunes are. For the extra 'tax' government charges for tourist attractions would be good to see some environmental work done. Buggy rides are fun, sandboarding great too, lots of good food, Bamboo is a great vegetarian/vegan place. A pricey place in comparison to most Peru, but still reasonable.

Huacachina is one of the most interesting places that Iโ€™ve visited. Itโ€™s a true oasis and the views during sunset are amazing. My recommendation is that you hike up the tallest dune to the right when you drive into the parking lots surrounding the oasis. Get there at least an hour before sunset. It was beautiful. Great experience.

Beautiful place to visit and so unique! This used to be a natural oasis but was drying up so it now has some artificial help but it doesnโ€™t take away from the views! The dunes are magnificent! One day and one night is enough to do everything from the winery nearby to the dune buggies and climbing the highest dune! The best time to get a picture is sunrise or sunset as not as many people are out in the dunes at that time.

This place is amazing. I stayed here for 2 nights and 2 days. It's small and you can walk around the whole lake within 20 to 25 mins or even less. Of course during the day there are people trying to take a picture. If you go in the morning you'll be the only person and you have the chance to take lots of pictures. There's lot is lots of food places. The food is good. I brought some delicious wine and I brought shaved ๐Ÿง ice just the ice. I poured the wine into the ice and I was walking about and drinking. I totally recommend you to try it! The wine is like no other place. At night you can explore the lake. I'm not sure during the day time, but at night there wasn't no one taking care of the boats. I saw a group of youngsters getting inside the boats and going to a joyride. I told my friend to do the same. We did. We were on one of the little boats and we were going for a ride and also drinking a little bit. This place is small but there is adventure!

(Translated by Google) Then a unique and special place: an oasis in the desert, towering dunes, special car trips on the sand, snowboarding on the dunes. Really nice. Quiet and clean oasis, but a few meters on the dunes the myriad of tourists, who, as always, dirty the area, ruining it and flooding it with plastic bottles. Too bad there are thousands of them in the sand. It would take a rule of not wearing any. So you can resist 30 min without water. I repeat we must respect nature (Original) Allora posto unico e speciale.

I went here on mid April 2023, I feel like it was a perfect month to visit this place, it was not actually that super hot, the Oasis looks amazing but it was full of tourist and I'm just a bit disappointed because I was actually expecting a real village where local live but when I arrived there it was more like a tourist attraction. There was a lot of souvenir shops, restaurants or bars and some accommodations. And you can also paddle on the lake. My favourite activity there was the Bugee ride. You should not miss that. I didn't expect that it would be super fun and unforgettable.

Amazing place! Definitely recommend visiting this while you're in Peru! It's about a 3 hour drive from Lima, and you can get a tour company to take you here for a reasonable price. We did a 1-day trip to this through Guru Explorers, and they drove us to and from Lima. Beautiful sceneries and views of the oasis from the desert area. And super thrilling buggy rides in the desert are available. If you're close up to the water, it's kind of green and nasty, but it looks good from afar! I highly recommend coming here for a unique experience.

One of the most unbelievable places in the world, from a very convenient walking distance from Ica in the desert region in this wonderful country. Buggy rides and sandboarding experience are the must do when in the place

Beautiful oasis sandwiched between pacific ocean and andes mountain. Came here as many as part of peru hop travel. Did sand riding, buggy ride. It was fun.

Way too much garbage and it stinks everywhere. This tourism in the desert is very questionable and no longer compatible with the protection of nature. There is also no security in the jeeps. And everything is way too expensive.

Very nice oasis, but very crowded Huacachina Oasis is amazing. It looks like you're in the middle of a Lawrence of Arabia movie: a water pond surrounded by palms and huge dunes. But around it, lots of touristy services have grown: restaurants, bars, hotels, shops, travel agenciesโ€ฆ its charm it's a bit lost. But it's worth. And if you take a walk around the dunes or a buggy trip, it's really nice, specially at sunset

Itโ€™s worth all the hype thatโ€™s on social media. Our first time in Peru and got this through Peru Hop which by the way is the best way to see parts of Peru you wouldโ€™ve never thought of. You just gotta be here in the moment to understand how amazing it is.

Huacachina is a unique and enchanting destination for travelers looking to experience the beauty of a desert oasis and enjoy outdoor adventures in the surrounding sand dunes. It's a natural oasis in the middle of the desert. It's surrounded by sand dunes that can reach heights of up to 1,000 feet (300 meters). Also it offers some of the most stunning sunsets in Peru, with the sun setting over the vast sand dunes, creating a breathtaking natural spectacle!

We enjoyed the visit to the oasis very much. The sand dunes were so fun to "surf", either with the buggy (which felt like a roller coaster) or with the sandboards.

It would be a very beautiful oasis if only the municipality would keep this place clean and the tourists/locals would refrain from throwing the plastic bottles or any trash in the environment! Very sad!

Lima and the surrounding areas are desert, and Huacachjna is an oasis in the desert area. Its not a very big place, but itโ€™s beautiful and special. There are several restaurants and activity agencies to add more fun into the visit. The best public transportation from Lima is bus. Visitors donโ€™t need a ticket to enter Huacachina. What a great experience! The sand boarding, the boogie ride and then to see the sunset... Priceless! This was my first time in a desert - or seen an "oasis" I will definitely recommend this stop if you are visiting Peru. You could do everything in one day, but it will be nice to spend two days so you could also do the sunrise and enjoy the pool if you are staying in a hotel that has one...

Totally worth a visit, but only for one day. The place is really cool. The dunebuggy tours is great if you seek adrenalin kicks and great views, especially the ones in the evening, with the sunset. But it's a really small place and gets boring quite fast. If you can, go there in the morning and leave in the evening, since the hostels are quite worn out(at least mine were, and the others didn't seem that much better)

  • 1/5 Sem S. 2 years ago on Google
People seem to think this is a natural oasis. The Peruvian Tourism board decided to promote it as such. This is however a gasoline-generator powered tourism trap. A beautiful one at first sight but very heavy on the negative impact to nature and environment
