👍👍 An amazingly beautiful place, quiet and tucked away from the Lisbon crowds. Well worth the 5 euro admission fee. The view from the rooftop is the best Lisbon has to offer. Highly recommend. People often mention view, Lisbon, visit,

The fables on the third floor were fantastic. If you’re with children, the first few rooms are very boring. Near the top of the building, there is an exhibit of ~30 tiled panels depicting a variety of fables. We enjoyed wandering around and reading the different stories. Once on the roof, there is a great view of Lisbon.

From the garden through the basement, the courtyard arcades and corridors all the way to the roof, countless beauties unfold before us. Both the decorations of the building, the walls and the stairs, as well as the works of art and tombstones have been masterfully crafted, with several hours of experience walking between them. From the roof, there is a breathtaking view of the city in all directions. An unmissable attraction in Lisbon.

I would call this an hidden gem, because it doesn't seem to be as popular as other monasteries in Lisbon. If you like history, it is a very interesting place, which includes the tombs of Portuguese kings and queens (the last king of Portugal is also there). There are a few historical rooms but fairly empty, there is also a museum section, a floor with fables depicted in "azulejos". You can go to the top and enjoy a nice view of Lisbon. I really enjoyed my visit and would recommend to anyone looking for a less touristic place of interest.

Beautiful tiles, beautiful church, wide open corridors, and some very interesting religious artefacts make this an absolute must-see. Added to this is the amazing viewpoint over the River as well as the city of Lisbon itself. It's worth at least 2 hours to enjoy properly. Stay a while

Honestly, this was to me actually the best historic / sightseeing place in Lisboa. Regular ticket costs 5 eur, pensioner 2,5 eur. What you get as part of the ticket: - Access to church and monastery buildings - Access to rooftop of the church with a view - Access to incredibly beautiful and well preserved amount of white blue azulejo art. I actually have never seen (apart from a few churches In Porto) such a collection. - very calming and spiritual setting

The people are nice and the monastery is quite interesting to walk through, especially a room with a statue of a mourning woman over two tombs. There’s a roof with views if you don’t mind heading up 100 steps or so, though it’s spread out so not too bad. I particularly loved the tile of the skeleton visiting the man. Clearly it’s been restored, but I would like to personally thank the restorer for providing me such joy.

Well worth a visit - tucked away down the side of the church is the entrance to the Monastery. Only 5 Euros each to enter but very good value, including a fabulous entrance hall, decorated cloisters, a fantastic robing room, the tombs of past royalty, and an extensive exhibition of fables (which did, I confess, get a bit repetitive). Climb to the roof terrace for some of the best views over the city. Best of all, there were not many visitors so it was quiet and you can walk around casually.

Totally worth the visit. One of the few monastery/church in Lisboa with Azulejos (blue tiles). Well preserved and plenty of explanations. Don't miss the view of Lisboa!

The visit (and the €5 entrance fee) is definitely worth it. Fascinating buildings, incredible views, interesting exhibitions (unfortunately I couldn't figure out what the mussel exhibition was about, especially since there were only Portuguese texts there...). (and the fastest response to the reviews here 😇👍👍)

what a surpise this was, we were wondering if we should visit and happy we have done. For the 5 euros it is a must visit. Easy to get to with a tramstop nearby. Had good excibitions, but the overall looks were also great. Great panoramic view as mentioned.
