What a beauty round about a dozen kilometers away from the heart of Lisbon. When you looking for peace for mind, soul and eyes, when you need to calm down, go there and walk and look and breathe and enjoy. This place is so quiet that even the whispering of the brook deepens the silence. The park is maintained perfectly and left and right you can spot sculptures of famose Portuguese poets from the centuries back to medieval times. The best approach is from down the street (R. Costa Pinto) through the main gate and go upwards. There you can enjoy the artificial ponds and impressive fountains. Don’t miss to turn back from time to time: the higher you get the more amazing becomes the view down to the waterfront. If the weather is fine, you will spot an unbelievable wide range until Costa da Caparica, Ponte 25. Abril and Cristo Rei. We got lucky by chance the day we went there. The middle section hosted the world press photograph exhibition, which was not only a collection of well shot pictures from around the world. It was like walking through a book where every picture told its own story. Before you start to climb the hill and stairs up to the highest point with the Temple of Poets and a golden topped obelisk you find a kiosk at the lefthand side where you can get some food, coffee and refreshments. You should consider enough time to make it through the whole area. When we became aware that there would be a third part to look at we were already exhausted from the hours on foot and the summer like temperature. So we stopped at this point to keep us safe from information overload and for keeping in mind, that we have to come back to finish the walk. Because there’s one thing there can be no doubt about: The Park of Poets is a strongly recommended place to visit. At least once, if not more often. Just for the fun of it and to enjoy the silence.

(Translated by Google) Parque dos Poetas arises from the dream of seeing a large urban park born in Oeiras and of associating poetry and sculptural art in the same space, in a tribute to Portuguese culture. From dream to reality, Parque dos Poetas took shape and became unique. In the three phases divided over 22.5 hectares between the urban centers of Paço de Arcos and Oeiras, it has statuary pieces by more than 40 sculptors, representing 60 poets from different literary periods. On June 7, 2003, the first phase of the project was inaugurated, with the first ten hectares. In this phase, sculptures depicting the 20 poets of the 20th century are represented. In 2013, seven more hectares are joined with poets from the Troubadours to the Renaissance. The link between the various phases is concluded in June 2015 with the addition of 17 more poets from the Baroque era (18th century) to the poets of the Romantic (19th century) and 10 poets representing the Countries or Territory of Portuguese Expression or Culture.

Parque dos Poetas is an unexpectedly large park fitted into the urban fabric of Oeiras and Paço de Arcos. It encompasses several amenities like kiosks, sport venues, car parking, a cultural center, etc. and transects the city from the Oeiras Park/City Hall to a few blocks from the shore. The park has a theme-oriented design, following a 80s-2000s design trend frequently used in shopping malls, but also in Parque das Nações, and which was soon to be contested and replaced by a more "natural" and "ecology concerned" trend. As such, the park's design feels a bit retro even though its 3rd and last phase opened in 2015 only. The park's theme is portuguese poetry, as per its name, and 60 poets are represented in leaf-like terraces scattered across the park with sculptures from 40 artists. With a geometric and sometimes heavy design, pergolas, fountains, paths, stairs and pedestrian bridges crisscross the park, defining routes, wining over streets and topography, creating sitting areas, and housing amenities. Following the theme of poetry, a labyrinth, a temple of poetry and an island of love are highlight follies of the park, all in very characteristic postmodern style. Filling the space in between, spans vast stretches of lawn and vegetation (yes, sometimes it feels like the "green" was a secondary part to the design of the park and in some areas it is difficult to find a shadowed flat lawn with a nice view to lay down). The park is a popular hanging out spot for the local population, and one frequently finds people playing ball games, hanging out around kiosks, appreciating the art, jogging, doing yoga and so on. As the park runs perpendicular to the river, it gains elevation and the views from the top of the park are quite panoramic, far-reaching and worth seeing. It is also towards north that the terrain becomes flatter if one prefers a flatter terrain to jog. The park opening times varies according to season. Summer: 9-23h Winter - 10-20h Entrance is free.

What a wonderful park. I have lived reasonably to close to this park for a year. Should have visted before I actually did. I have never seen a park like this before. I would recommend it to everyone! Go and see for yourself!

A wonderful garden with lots of space to exercise, to lay down, to play with kids, and to relax. Extremely clean and peaceful. Great to take photos. The view is amazing! On the educational side you can learn about many Portuguese poets and even read some poems engraved on the floor. Great for all ages.

Lovely park for an afternoon walk. I was blown away by the size of the park and thoughtful unique tributes to each artist. Park includes quiosques and playground as well as lots of quiet benches to admire the art and landscape. We started at the northernmost end and walked downhill the length of the park.

Stunning 360o sightseeing over Oeiras. It is an unique park where Poetry meets the nature. It is perfect for some reading, exercises or just to enjoy the view. Suggestion: start from Paço de Arcos and walk to the top. Unfortunately dogs are forbidden 🥺 the only reason I don't go there often.

(Translated by Google) Gorgeous! It improved a lot with the bridges and the opening of two cafes Kiosk in the middle. Bar in the temple of poetry. Good work to renovate the sculptural complex. We just need to improve the shrub garden part with more variety, less geometry and more native species ... (Original) Lindo! A very well maintained park, adding a great value to Oeiras. Full of green spaces with big trees and water features. The park is quite big, full of quiet spaces where you can be just relaxing, perhaps reading a book and getting inspired by the many poets. At the top, there is a bar with a rooftop, with wonderful views from the river and the surrounding city. Highly recommended.

A nice green space. Lots of seating options, in the sun and under trees. Kids playgrounds and water fountains. Green space to play football and running tracks. Burgerking right beside it, as well as a gym that offers everything from spa to weights and aerobics. Lots of parking options and public transportation.

It’s a nice park with great views, but it is a bit too “manicured” for my liking. Nevertheless a fantastic green space in the heart of town.

Fantastischer Park. Definitiv empfehlenswert!

Nice on a sunny day. Located on an incline so could potentially be challenging for those with mobility issues. Small coffee shop lower down, too crowded on busy days! You can end up waiting a long time for coffee and very cramped! Could do with more trees. Consider planting more.

Nice place to visit. Amazing sculptures in all the 3 parts of the park, relaxing ambience, not sure if you can take your pets, but it’s a good place for a picnic, bring your kids or just walking around and read a book. There is a bar with an amazing rooftop view that I would definitely encourage you to go. Not only the decor it’s amazing and staff very professional but also the view is very worth it! Unfortunately don’t have any pictures.

The place is great, the restaurant is amazing. But the staff doesn't allow dogs. Not even my mother's small dog inside the carrier bag. The restaurant is in the terrace and the garden is a garden (all open spaces). The garden is beautiful but I didn't see any facilities besides the ones in the restaurant building and if you enter from bellow there is a lot of walking to do. You can enter from top directly to the restaurant. It is worth.

Big and beautiful park with an amazing view on the ocean. There are a lot of interesting statues and monuments all dedicated to Portuguese famous poets. It's also a great place for a picnic, as there are some areas designated for it.

Great and beautiful park, both for casual walks up and down and relaxing with the book on the grass or bench. There are kids playgrounds in the upper and middle parts of the park and fountains with ducks at the bottom. Always clean and cozy, with a great view and a couple of coffee booths — great place to have a walk and enjoy the weather
