Lovely site, with a nice big garden that is pet friendly. The instruments at museum are interesting, but most of all, the place is beautiful. Friendly staff.

(Translated by Google) One of the most incredible museums I've ever visited, in addition to several musical instruments that tell the history of Portuguese music, it has its own spectacular building, an early 20th century construction with 18th century tiles taken from several other buildings from the Pombaline period, an unmissable place to visit in Cascais (Original) Um dos museus mais incríveis que já visitei, além de diversos instrumentos musicais que contam a história da música portuguesa, tem o próprio edifício que é espetacular, construção do início do século XX com azulejos do século XVIII retirado de diversos outros edifícios da época pombalina, um lugar imperdível para visitar em Cascais

Built in 1918 and beautifully restored in 2005, the large private home was turned into a museum of Portuguese musical instruments. I went to see a concert there. A Franck and Ravel program of chamber music performed in an actual intimate music chamber. The string quartet was made up of four members of the Orquestra de Câmara de Cascais e Oeiras. These women and their performance were nothing short of brilliant. Gliding through a notoriously complex program, they were rewarded with a heart-felt standing ovation from the audience (sold out and with a perhaps 30 person capacity house -- yes the space is that intimate). A wonderful experience in a gorgeous place.

Small but nice, especially the free concerts in the evening! We were on performance of musical school, Irish melodies, loved it!

(Translated by Google) In 1994, the composer Fernando Lopes Graça, who collaborated closely in the investigation of Michel Giacometti, left his entire estate to the Municipality of Cascais, which was incorporated into the museum in 1995. Due to the wider segment of its collection, the museum came to know its current name - Museum of Portuguese Music. It is worth a visit not only for the collection but also for the beautiful architecture of the museum and the garden that surrounds it.

Gorgeous house, huge garden, and a nice array of instruments and stories. Unfortunately in this country art isn't as supported as other areas, so the garden is in disarray, the exhibit has closed rooms and things that don't work... Still, it is well worth the visit!

Beautiful house and grounds. The walls present a huge display of typical Portuguese tiles. Charming courtyard and garden. Friendly and informative lady gave us a brief history in English. Interesting collection of musical instruments on the top floor, take a laminated leaflet before you enter the room so you can get a bit of detail on how they all make their sounds. Great place for a short, not-too-exhausting visit. They hold concerts periodically.

I loved this quaint museum. Quiet and in a chalet style, very typical of the Estoril style.

Whether or not you are interested in antique guitars and percussion and/or Portuguese folk music this place is an absolute gem. Wonderful. They were still undergoing renovations when I went and despite being closed an incredibly helpful staff member gave me a personal tour. Amazing.
