Absolutely lives up to its reputation and fame. A bit pricey to enter such a small structure (and you can see nearly all of it without walking in), but the entire building feels exactly like what I grew up seeing in the old architectural photos. I’ve been waiting to see this structure more than any other after learning about it in an architecture class four years ago, and it did not disappoint. My one critique was that the temporary display within the space consisted of screens that, to me, obstructed the iconic views and angles of the building; but I understand that such temporary exhibitions probably make this monument more interesting overall.

"Less is more" could never be better expressed than Mies van der Rohe's German Pavillion for Barcelona's international expostion in 1929. This pavillion shocked the visitors, at the time, with its austere simplicity and its razor sharp straight-lines that stood in defiance against the hallucinating curved lines of the Art-Nouveau. The visitors were not ready for the "scandal" of the bare walls stripped of any ornaments. Rohe's work was as a condemnation to the pretentiousness and supercilliousness of the former styles. Mies van der Rohe, who coined the term: "Less is more", became the headmaster of the Bauhaus School in Germany, which changed world architecture forever. Nothing before the Bauhaus is like what came after. When the Nazies closed the school in 1933, Mies fled to Chicago and built a handful of icons of modern architecture still standing there. The pavillion was disassembled in 1930, after the exposition. More than 50 years later, and after realizing the importance of this iconic pavillion, the city of Barcelona reconstructed it with its original materials in 1986 on its original site. Today, this modern monument is a touristic site where you pay 7€ as admission fee.

Tucked away on the side of the grand plaza, this is definitely worth a visit! Real architecture that provides such a peaceful and restorative retreat from the city. Upon entering one can scan a link to an Audioguide which describes the history and specifics of the building. The hour I ended up spending there was one of my favorite parts of the the week in Barcelona!

As an architect it was impossible for me to visit Barcelona without seeing this pavilion with my own eyes. Of course i was amazed by the simple yet fascinating building that stands on the corner of the street. A truly one of a kind experience.

The attraction is clean & quick to go through! If you like or study architecture, this is definitely a place to check out! You could be done in 15 minutes or less. I was expecting more Mies furniture or museum items, the whole place was empty. The building is beautiful, but Mies had his iconic pieces in the building originally, so I wish there was a little more to see. I do think they should lower the admission price b/c it's expensive for not that much in return.

I had to take this one off the bucket list. When I visited Barcelona for the first time, 40 years ago, the pavilion had not yet been restored, and I did not have the opportunity to view this magnificent piece of modern architecture. The pavilion was everything. I expected it to be and more, after reviewing it for so many years in architecture, school, and beyond, and studying, its geometry, configuration, and aesthetics, it was quite fulfilling to see it in real life. There is a minor entry fee, which we gladly paid, there were no crowds, we had the entire pavilion to ourselves, and it was wonderful. If you are an architect or an architectural aficionado, and in Barcelona, I would highly recommend that you visit this beautiful piece of modern architecture.

I studied interior architect and a modern architecture lover. I am so happy that I eventually visited this building. I really enjoy the clean lines, surfaces, colors, and textures. It is so simple but so rich. It is “empty”, but every time you move, it is a new modern and harmonious picture. I don’t think the entrance ticket is expensive with all the maintenance work and staff. The staff are very nice and polite. I really appreciate this building is open to public and make it possible for everybody see this masterpiece.

For anyone with personal interests in architecture and it's history this place was created in 1929 and reconstructed on 1983. Is also located next to the national art museum of Cataluña. Souranded by open space and beautiful water fountains. Great for the family to visit.

Of course a very beautiful building! Entrance is normally 8€ which is heavily overpriced, like most things in Barcelona. The reduced price for students etc. Is 4€, which is just on the verge of being okay. I mean, there is not much to see. Or in other words: you can see a lot without entering and paying. It is nice to take pictures and sit there for a while. But if there are a lot of people, then also that is not as nice :/

If you’re an Architect or an architecture fan, it’s. Place that you can’t miss. The pavillion one of the most important masterpieces, that gave the first them into modernism. Although it’s not the original pavilion, because it was dismounted and mounted again in the 80’s, you can capture Mies Van Der Rohe’s essence. Ticket is 8€ or 4€ if you’re a student. It may seem pricey because the pavilion is small, but it’s totally worth it! Don’t miss out on this experience if you’re in Barcelona.

It fascinated me a lot even though I have never studied architecture. The non-division between indoor and outdoor spaces and the reflections are truly spectacular.

Really amazing work! How Rohe implemented marble, Glas and Metal back then in a Minimalist way which is so interesting is impressive!

If you are into design and architecture, this is a must seen place. The pavilion is beautiful and the store has a lot of interesting things to buy.

A dream that comes true! After studying this pavilion for years I had finally the occasion to visit it… marvelous and if you are a student you pay only 3€!! A must see in Barcelona 🇪🇸

A good place for contemplation, because it is not crowded. The entrance for adults from foreign countries is always 8 euro. Rare posibilies of discounts. It looks different than in photos, maybe because of its unexpected location: the right sight from the museum of arts walking till the columns that you see in the plaza Españya

The minimalistic design drew me in, and the seamless integration of glass and steel feels like a celebration of openness. An architectural experience that's both timeless and emotionally resonant.

So nice! Almost a century old design, and still looking contemporary. I’m so in love with that building and the Barcelona chair. It’s not very big, but certainly worth a visit. The only downside is that I bumped my knee into the marble bench after leaving the shop. That really hurt. 😜

As an architect , this was a great site to see and very worth the ticket , although I will mention that we paid the student price at 4e , and perhaps at full price it would have been too much. Certainly lives up to the expectation and is beautifully managed.

Only really valuable if you’re into architecture, design etc. Income was €8.

The pavilion is small but sublime. If you know, you know. The light, reflections, and space are so iconic. I'm a huge Mies fanboy, so it was worth the 8€ for me. But again, very small and may not be worth the price for people who are looking for a lot of value.

Nice building and an architecture icon. Worth to pass by when visiting the other sights nearby.

An interesting building, completely open space dominated by water. It's a pity that on the day of my visit it was very windy, so the water was dirty and full of everything. The interpretation of the pavilion leaves a lot of room for the individual's imagination
