We
walked
up
from
the
parking
lot
of
the
Santa
Coloma
de
Farners
pavilion.
A
beautiful
and
quiet
walk
that
is
moderate
at
times.
The
hermitage
is
closed,
but
some
villagers
told
us
that
they
occasionally
open
it
on
some
festivals
(see
below
for
which
ones).
The
temple
is
a
two-in-one
that
has
great
architectural
appeal.
Although
the
day
was
not
with
us,
I
think
the
photographs
show
the
beauty
of
the
building.
Apart
from
the
hermitage,
the
whole
area
should
be
highlighted.
It
can
be
reached
by
car,
and
has
several
picnic
areas.
In
addition
to
the
corresponding
tables
under
the
shadows,
there
are
also
several
barbecues.
To
top
it
all
off,
there
are
containers
(including
recycling)
and
public
toilets.
That
is
to
say,
everything
perfectly
prepared
to
spend
a
great
evening
in
a
beautiful
and
especially
quiet
environment.
As
additional
information,
I
copy
the
one
published
in
the
area
for
its
cultural
interest:
Religious
Romanesque
with
Baroque
extension
-
S.
XII
There
are
no
vestiges
of
the
original
11th
century
church,
built
as
a
chapel
outside
the
castle
walls,
but
of
the
reconstruction
made
in
1200,
the
date
on
which
the
church
was
consecrated.
The
apse
and
part
of
the
side
walls
belong
to
this
period.
Most
of
the
building
comes
from
the
Baroque
extension
that
was
added
to
the
Romanesque
church
to
which
the
porch
belongs.
The
church
preserves
inside
a
magnificent
baroque
altarpiece
and
the
venerated
Romanesque
image
of
the
Virgin
of
Farners
(if
you
can
go
there
for
one
of
the
indicated
festivals,
it's
sure
to
be
spectacular).
The
place
of
Farners
has
always
been
a
place
of
great
religious
and
sentimental
devotion
for
the
Dolomites.
Probable
origin
of
the
repopulation
of
the
plain,
until
modern
times
the
hermitage
was
an
important
center
of
worship
in
the
town.
The
esplanade
of
Farners
is
the
scene
of
two
noted
festivals:
the
traditional
Aplec
de
Farners
and
the
busy
Festa
del
"Coro",
every
Easter
Tuesday,
which
began
to
take
place
in
1907
and
which
has
become
one
of
the
most
traditional
festivities
of
Santa
Coloma.
