Decent. Good price for 6 courses (including amuse bouche) at a Michelin star restaurant. I’m not sure why people rave about it, but we thought it was ok. We felt the reviews over promised and the restaurant under delivered somewhat based on our expectations. This experience makes me question what is required for a Michelin star. Service was absolutely excellent. Food was good but not a very memorable culinary experience. Not bad. Just not wow.

Great service and food quality. This is my first Michelin restaurant. I thought 7 courses dinner will be higher quality than normal restaurant. There is a unique menu. So it is easier for the chef to prepare. The portion of each course are small (even the main dish). There is a good attention on dishware and plates. For 65€ a menu, I was expecting the bar to be higher than an usual restaurant. Maybe I was expecting too much.

This Michelin guide restaurant is a small operation run by a Japanese chef who worked for the best (Loiseau, Robuchon…). He brought an attention to detail and quest for perfection from those experiences. The best way to describe the restaurant is really to say it’s French cuisine by a Japanese chef. It was unplanned. I happen to walk by it and decided to book for the day after as i was alone at home. Best idea ever. Especially since it’s quite a bargain for a Michelin restaurant. Last note. You can trust them on the wine. They have very good taste.

Found this place on our tour in Paris. Me and my wife both had the menu with 7 courses. I had the wine parring with 5 wines. The food was amazing and I must say the wines was a really great match. The food was displayed beautifully on diffrent plates. This made the hole evening amazing. I would have giving it 4.5 stars. The missing 0.5 is because the missing sounds/music. It was very quiet, and you could hear a needle drop to the floor. Our waitress was not the best at english, but good enough, we understood the point. And frence food presentet in frence is allso very charming. All in All a great night. Amazing food, with good wines, presentet so the food was in focus. And the price is not to high.

Amazing service- just like every other review has described regarding the hospitality of this establishment. Also, the food was incredibly beautfully decorated. However, the food tasted very average for a nice spot like this. The 2 dishes that stood out were the fish main and the raw fish starter. The bread and roast rack of lamb was really average. Also, majority of the plates and cutlery were dirty- lots of fingerprint stains were very apparent on the food dishes. Really ruins the 4.8star expectation from Google Reviews. Disappointed for the lack of attention to detail regarding the cleanliness of the cutlery and dishes. Would have easily given them 5 stars if they ensured that all the cutlery and cups were sparkly clean. Service: 5 stars Taste: 3 stars Presentation: mostly 5 stars (except for stained dishes) Would I come back again to try a different menu? Yes. Definitely.

During our two weeks stay in Paris, we’ve dined here twice. It’s the only restaurant we’ve re-visited during a singular visit to Paris. It’s fine dining at its finest, yet unpretentious and zen-like in its dishes as well as in its minimalist decor…and even its mood music. And set in a quaint, relatively quiet narrow lane, just off busy Boulevard Saint Germain. There’s no prior menu. You’ll discover the set lunch or set dinner menu when you arrive. It’s one of life’s nicest gastronomic surprises. Everything about L’initial is just perfect for a delicious and relaxing dining experience. An oasis from very busy Paris at this time of the year. Highly recommended.

Verdict: Best dining experience ever in Paris! Thank you so much for the reception and we certainly enjoyed the moment. The restaurant is located in a quiet alley. We had a 7-course meal at only €54 per person, and the meal was fantastic, especially the lamb and the duck pie! The service was awesome and the host has taken care of everyone so well that they serve the food at the right timing after finishing each meal.

Had lunch here on a Friday and it was just us plus two other tables for lunch! Feel like somehow people are really missing out on this place. I’ll preface this review by saying we do not typically frequent fancy restaurants and we’re traveling from the US. We really love our food and eating out though. We each got the four course lunch menu for 38 euro and I opted for the wine pairing at 28 euro. Started with possibly the highlight of the meal which was these little fried potato balls and chickpea chips. Truly incredible. What followed was a phenomenal appetizer, a fish and protein course (choice of protein) and dessert. A few additional surprises like delicious bread and a second dessert treat. The wines were exceptional (especially the red that came with the veal). Overall, the food was beautifully executed and presented. Relatively straightforward and accessible too which is more our style compared to stuff that is artful to an extreme extent. Service was exceptional, of course. No detail left unattended to. I think lunch here is a must do and an exceptional value.

I accidentally bumped onto L’Initial and I have to admit it was a pleasant surprise. Although the first entrée was a bit blunt, the rest of the courses were rich, flavourful and were cooked perfectly. The environment feels a bit outdated but the friendly service more than makes up for it.

We had an excellent dinner here and it is definitely deserving of a Michelin star or two. The service was attentive but unobtrusive and the food was innovative but unpretentious. The 6 course meal was also excellent value. Can absolutely see why the other reviewers rave about this place - highly recommended!

Japanese French fusion fare. Michelin guide 2022 at incredibly unbeatable price. 38 euros for a four course lunch +26 for wine pairing. Food was delicious! We had scallops, fish, and mousse. Even though I couldn't eat the 3 options from the main, the kitchen was so kind to offer me an alternative option. Service is impeccable too! Tis is such a hidden gem. Everyone visiting Paris must stop by

you can order a menu only. The most affordable one is at about 60 euros, which is very cheap considering the quantity of courses. Each course is a small portion though The food was very good but not amazing. The atmosphere is cosy and quiet. There is a separate room with a large table where you can have dinner with friends or family if you want to.

War zum dritten oder vierten Mal dort. Immer wieder super. Das Abendessen und die Wein Begleitung waren super gut und der Service wunderbar. Auf jeden Fall immer wieder ein Besuch wert. Essen auf super Niveau. Vielen Dank

Without a doubt, this is unquestionably one of the most exceptional dining experiences I have ever had the privilege of enjoying. During our trip to Paris, my boyfriend and I stumbled upon this restaurant by chance, and it turned out to be an incredible stroke of luck. Intrigued by the outstanding reviews we had read, we decided to take a leap of faith. Booking reservations was a seamless process, very easy and accommodating. The staff exuded dedication, elegance, and professionalism from the moment we stepped foot inside. They provided impeccable service, taking the time to explain each part of our multiple course dinner with great detail and enthusiasm. Every dish that graced our table was a masterpiece in both presentation and flavor. The delicate and beautiful presentation of each plate was a feast for the eyes, and the taste surpassed our wildest expectations. The flavors harmoniously danced on our palates, creating an unforgettable symphony of taste sensations. By the end of our meal, my boyfriend was utterly blown away, and I must confess, we both left the restaurant feeling as if we were floating on air. The sheer deliciousness of the food had left us in a state of pure culinary bliss. I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to have savored such an extraordinary experience.

The food is fantastic. All the dishes in the menu were delicious, with a beautiful presentation. The service is fantastic as well, they are really kind and you can see that they love what they are doing and serving. The price of the menu is a good value for the quality you're getting. Maybe the only complain could be the price of the wines, all the available options were pretty expensive, although overall the final price is still worthy.

The chef is a genius. One of the best meals of my life. Stand outs were the scallops in Jerusalem artichokes purée and the fois gras cooked with Paris ham and black truffle in a foamy goodness. Every dish was executed perfectly. Service is kind, polite, un-intrusive. Wine pairings delicious. The pricing is incredible. I don’t know why it’s so affordable but it is a steal. This will be my go to recommendation for anyone visiting Paris. Only feedback is the acoustics of the place. The combo of big windows, wooden floor, and a minimalistic decor means sound carries. Perhaps ceiling sound panels might help, bc rugs would be more complex to carry out and maintain.

Simple, Elegant and well seasoned 7 course menu. We had wine pairing for my wife's course and it was still exactly the right decision. The foie gras starter was very creative, followed by Abalone, squid and then lobster bisq dish. The fish and meat main course just excellent. We haven't had pigeon before and really afraid that the taste might be wild over...but the way chef prepared and grilled the pigeon confit leg was just 5 star....the sole grilled was amazing. Definitely an Yes to visit again when we come to Paris next......

Went for lunch and had 7 course menu. Probably because we had a small child, they provided us with a semi private room, which was quite nice. We were truly surprised that they can serve 7 course meals with only €48. (We end up about €170 for two course meal, main and desert for a child, one glass of wine and two bottles of fruits juice) Everything was tasty cannot complain at all but somewhat felt like missing a bit of impact. My son were naughty at times but the waiter took care of him very nicely. Thank you so much.

Very nice place. The staff is very friendly and can speak at least 3 languages - French, Japanese and English. All the dishes were extremely delicious! Chef was so kind he changed our desert because of my wife’s allergy. Totally worth it to have a dinner here!
