What a find in Paris! I loved this building not only because as students we got free entrance for the monument AND the observation deck with one of the best views of Paris, but because of the incredible interior of this architectural masterpiece. A building that has served too many roles, under too many leaders... It's just steeped in history.

Amazing architecture and full of history. It's essentially a crypt for many famous people with ties to France. The view from the top is beautiful! It's not a must see while in Paris, but if you have done all the other major sites, then find time to visit here!

A truly impressive site, there's a pendulum right in the center and if you stare long enough, it'll get you dizzy. A great experience really. Make sure you pay a visit if you're in the Paris area, trust me on this one, you won't regret it.

Beautiful architecture outside and inside, recommended to purchase e-ticket so no Queue is needed , it will save you some time to travel around other part of Paris. Also, don’t forget to purchase another ticket to go upstairs to see the panorama ! It’s so beautiful and amazing , you can see Eiffel tower from afar, note that you will need to climb around 203 steps ☺️ good stamina is required ! 🤭

The pantheon is a beautiful structure with a rich history. We were fortunate enough to visit when the option to go all the way to the top roof and it did not disappoint. The crypts are fascinating to see and read about the history of those who were buried there. There is a giant pendulum swinging in the middle that is neat to check on several times during your visit to see how it changes

The Panthéon, a majestic architectural marvel, proudly stands as a symbol of French history and intellectual prowess. While the exterior boasts neoclassical splendor, the disappointment arises during the winter months when the top dome is closed to visitors. Despite this setback, the interior of the Panthéon is a treasure trove of artistic and historical significance. The vast space is adorned with impressive frescoes, sculptures, and the final resting places of esteemed figures. Although the missed opportunity to ascend to the top may dim the experience for some, the Panthéon's interior remains a captivating journey through France's cultural and political heritage, making it a worthwhile destination even when the dome is closed for the season.

A marvelous building with an interesting history. King Louis XV ordered a church dedicated to Saint Genevieve, but nor the king neither the saint never saw the plans fulfilled. The first died before the completion, and because the revolution started the building was secularized as a ‘temple of the French people’. Henceforth it serves as a mausoleum to famous locals such as Victor Hugo and Marie Curie.

Wow Very big inside. Especially when you enter the cellar with all the tombs from a few ‘famous’ people like madam Curie and Volterre In winter it’s pretty cold. The exhibition was not the best but the building is big and has some history

One of the most memorable places we’ve ever been able to visit! Give yourself plenty of time- The crypt alone can take a couple of hours. I would also suggest getting tickets early, as the lines are long, even of peak season.

In Paris, I stumbled upon Pantheon on a stroll I was astonished by the beauty this museum and the deep history behind this gorgeous museum. The painting are mind blowing with the most fascinating history and meaning. I was truly amazed by the creativity but into the ceiling and sculpture. This museum in heaven for science fanatics, there is a big gold steel ball hanging from the ceiling facing to the mirrored flooring, the meaning and scientific reason is interesting. This place is a must visit for everyone visiting Paris, from the history, art and science.

Impressive! I took ticket with panorama view (15€) online. No line at 12.45 on Wednesday. Main hall is very beautiful! I like the view and suggest to go up (~200 steps, it’s quick). Also, there are a large crypt, the entrance at the angle in the main hall , don’t miss.

I stayed near this place! You can quickly get there on foot. It is massive and a sight to see. I like how this is situated near many things, such as restaurants, public transport and the apartment and restaurant featured in Emily in Paris. I recommend this place, especially to the curious people who want to be fascinated by the city and its landmarks.

WOW!!! Words cannot describe how amazing this building is! It is truly remarkable. There are tombs underneath which you can see, filled with very important historical Frenchman. You can even go to the very top of the building, on a guided tour. Once you enter the Parthenon you will find yourself staring upward much longer than you anticipated.

One of my favorite parts about visiting Paris was the architecture. Everywhere you walk (and I encourage walking everywhere) you see such amazing sights and most everything has some form of historical significance. The Pantheon is no exception. It was amazing to stand in front of such an imposing structure towering over you. Turn around and your looking down a picturesque shop lined hill overlooking the Eiffel Tower.

A really cool building to visit. I highly recommend buying tickets in advance so you do not have to wait in line. When buying inline there was no option to go up to the panoramic view and you cannot buy once inside so do you homework there. Also go into the crypts in the basement at the far end. Bonus… great view of the Eiffel Tower.

Was amazing to view the history of this place! From being a church to being used for science, the Pantheon has had a lot to offer of the years. The swinging pendulum even stays on a particular line based on the time of day! I would suggest going to see that first and then again last right before you leave to watch the time change!

Beautiful structure to photograph from the outside during the blue hour and even night shots. You can learn about the fascinating history of the building by visiting the interior of the building. France honours those that have contributed the most to the country by allowing them to rest for the nation and generations to remember.

A fantastic historical monument, celebrating French national heritage, legends, art and culture! The tickets are absolutely worth it as the visit can easily take more than an hour. There are dozens of spectacular paintings by renowned artists each depicting important historical moments and legends like the stories of Joan of Arc or Charlemagne. Some of them notably have an impressionist look, coming from late 19 century. These are accompanied by equally impressive sculptures and architectural miracles. Finally, a monumental tomb can be found underground where some of France’s most known political figures found their last rest. Overall, totally worth a visit! And bonus points for being less exhausting and busy than more known sights in Paris

(Translated by Google) One of the most important national monuments of the capital. On entering the Pantheon, one can only feel this impression of gigantism and one better understands the idea of the great women and great men of the country. The monument is absolutely worth visiting to realize how much France has had geniuses, strategists and other humanists during its history. The great women and great men who rest there largely lived during and after the industrial revolution, but it is important to preserve this national memory which should be a source of inspiration for everyone today. More specifically, the terminals installed around the tombs, allow you to understand the importance of each pantheonized and to learn about the history of France. We will of course regret the excessive absence of women and figures from decolonization, the abolition of slavery, as well as other battles that make France what it is today.

The panthéon features the crypt where you will find people such as Marie Curie and revolutionaries. The silvery section was the best with lots of art I had not seen. €10 is a reasonable price for the ticket 🎟️ as you spend around an hour inside. There was a short queue - be aware that it closed at 6pm on Sunday.

The Pantheon is a lovely building. It was constructed in the second half of the 18th century, primarily to serve as a church, but events conspired and it has actually been a mausoleum for most of its existence. It is worth a visit.

Think of a neighborhood where there are so many things to know, a place full of stories, the Pantheon is worth it because it has a lot of history and a lot of information, several famous people were buried here, we had the privilege of entering a university where it was never open to the public , it was sensational ... the neighborhood is very structured, bars, shops, buses and etc.

Breathtaking experience! The audio guide is very detailed, but it was amazing wandering all around the huge area and humbling to go down into the crypt where all the amazing architects of history lay. Almost overwhelming to wander in the footsteps of so many great souls, and contemplate the hundreds, even thousands of years of events this area witnessed.

The Panthéon was actually an optional visit for us when we visited Paris, though we had the time to squeeze this in after our trip to the Catacombs nearby and I'm glad we did. If you think it's big on the outside, it's even bigger and more impressive on the inside. There is also a crypt underneath that houses a lot of France's finest writers, scientists, political figures, and so on. You'll learn quickly that Victor Hugo is the star here, as he even has his own exhibit within the crypt.

Even though Foucault's pendulum it's not original, this is the place where he made the demonstration. Also stands for science in a former place of worship (and ignorance) previous to the revolution. It is also the resting place of France heroes, writers, scientists, so it stands for a nation and for the world because the Curies or Rousseau changed the whole world for good.

The Panthéon is a beautiful massive building. The ceiling is so high! We realise this since the queue. All the wall paintings are also very tall, several tens of feets. The crypt is very impressive. A lot of famous names are ciseled in the large limestone bricks. However, there are numerous empty slots, it is surprising. The pendulum in the center of the building is oscillating so slow, but its rotation since the beginning and the end of the visit is obvious.

We went to the pantheon and we’re not able to go inside because on the way there we stopped at a wine store and had a couple of bottles with us. There is a rule that no glass bottles are allowed inside, which I understand, but we were so bummed we couldn’t go inside. I told my husband I’d wait outside with the wine so he could go in, but in the end we decided to move along to our next stop.

Gorgeous views from the top. Expect once you enter to have to wait 1-2 hours before being allowed to enter the observation deck on top. You don't have to wait in line, however you do have to wait your turn. So when you enter, make sure to pay for the separate ticket to head to the deck up top and then prepare to wait your turn to walk the hundreds of stairs to the top. Worth every bit of the climb.

The Pantheon here in Paris is one of the best kept secrets. With so many other amazing historic places to visit this can easily be skipped which would be your worse mistake! The beautiful of this place which is kind of hidden away on top of a hill is a place I'll never forget. I'd have to say it is even more beautiful then the Pantheon in Rome. Yep, I said it, more BEAUTIFUL! Put this on your list and trust me you'll love it! I'll be back! ♡

Great location, the Pantheon square would be a great place for pictures. Lots of wall paintings inside Pantheon simply splendid. Must visit.

Worth the visit! Great massive building! Tombs of Voiltaite, Marie Curie, Braille,.. They had free/suprise show when I visited. Actor and violinist. Was in french and I didnt understand anything but very touched! One of best memories from my Paris trip!

The building is absolutely magnificent. Amazing architecture inside and out. The staff wa friendly and helpful.

  • 5/5 Sven W. 2 years ago on Google
This is probably best known as the resting place for many famous people and, in my opinion, a very nice example of "egalité". So you will not only find politicians and the likes of Voltaire, Rousseau, but also Hugo, Zola, Braille, Curie (both of them) and, yes, Josephine Baker in the crypt. On the ground floor you can see a replica of the original Foucault's pendulum.

The Pantheon is a must see. A tribute to all the great women and men of the Nation. Close to Jardin du Luxembourg. The core heart of Paris.

Wasn't expecting what we found. I really only knew about a few people's graves being there. Wasn't expecting the huge building and the huge art. Very fascinating architecture and memorials to people of French history.

Worth a visit if you are in Paris for more than a day or two. Doesn't have as much tourists as most of the other sighs in Paris. Unfortunately the tickets to go on top of the Panthéon were sold out when I visited.

Beautiful building, audio guides were helpful in giving history. Definitely takes a fair amount of time to really go through the whole building and fully take it all in.

A must see in Paris. The paintings are amazing as is the Foucault's pendulum in the middle. There is always queue so it's better to reserve online so you can skip the line. It's free if you are under 26 and EU resident.

For anyone who has already visited the best known sites of Paris, this is a fantastic place to add to your list. It was originally to be a church in the 18th century, but the revolutionaries didn’t like the idea and turned it into a mausoleum instead. Today it is a monument to writers, journalists and artists. It is absolutely stunning with gorgeous large scale art. Very interesting to visit the tombs in the crypt as well. A Who’s Who of French literary history and then some.

  • 5/5 Stefan M. 1 year ago on Google
Impressive monument and must-see in Paris. Inside really massive architecture with the pendulum in the middle and a big mirror on the floor. After about 200 steps to the roof of the building you have a beautiful terrace with view over Paris and to the Eiffel tower.

Great edifice, essentially a repurposed basilica. Great views from the roof. They also boast nice sound performances.

  • 5/5 Lissa A. 1 year ago on Google
This place is so beautiful. The architecture is impressive and it is also the resting place of many great people (like Rousseau, Victor Hugo and Marie Curie). Big plus: people under 26 can enter for free!

  • 5/5 Gustavo S. 1 year ago on Google
It's a fantastic monument honoring those who did great things. The architecture is beautiful and I recommend going to the top as you have a fantastic, panoramic view of the entire city (or most as the city is gigantic)

  • 4/5 Cheryl M. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful and very quiet. Great place to absorb some of the French history and see amazing architecture.

  • 5/5 Sudasha D. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful and worth a visit. You have to dial certain numbers on the audio guide device to hear an explanation of what you are seeing and follow the locations on a map. It would help if the numbers were also marked at the spots in the Pantheon as it is not easy to follow on the map. Also very cold in there, colder than it was in the catacombs by far so dress warm, gloves are a must.

A must visit we spent around 90 minutes exploring the place, there is an exotic watch inside, crypts of famous people such as marie curie, a lot of astounding paintings and status. Also, there is a gift shop inside. Tip: There's no need to pre-book tickets, but if you book online, they are a little bit cheaper.

  • 5/5 Ananya B. 1 year ago on Google
Great to visit. Felt respectful being able to find Marie Curie's ashes in the basement. Full of history. The building looks beautiful in the afternoon sun.

  • 5/5 Tave F. 1 year ago on Google
Usually a line to get in so buy tickets online. Line moves fast and isn’t terribly packed on the inside due to the sheer size. Crypts are interesting to whiteness but they aren’t adorned as much as I was expecting, which was fine, just know that there’s not much difference between one crypt and another. Be sure to visit the Saint-Étienne-du-Mont behind once you are done, extremely beautiful.

  • 5/5 Paul H. 1 year ago on Google
Fascinating building with lots of history. Crypts are interesting with lots of notable people.

  • 5/5 Katie A. 11 months ago on Google
Beautiful Architecture at its best, this place is stunning! There is no queue to get in. We weren't fit enough to do the 200 winding stairs to the viewing platform but would have liked to! Go to the Crypt in the basement, Marie Curie, lays to rest there as well as yet more splendid architecture.

By the time the construction was finished, the French Revolution had started; the National Constituent Assembly voted in 1791 to transform the Church of Saint Genevieve into a mausoleum for the remains of distinguished French citizens, modelled on the Pantheon in Rome which had been used in this way since the 17th century. The first panthéonisé was Honoré Gabriel Riqueti, comte de Mirabeau, although his remains were removed from the building a few years later. The Panthéon was twice restored to church usage in the course of the 19th century—although Soufflot's remains were transferred inside it in 1829—until the French Third Republic finally decreed the building's exclusive use as a mausoleum in 1881. The placement of Victor Hugo's remains in the crypt in 1885 was its first entombment in over 50 years. The successive changes in the Panthéon's purpose resulted in modifications of the pedimental sculptures and the capping of the dome by a cross or a flag; some of the originally existing windows were blocked up with masonry in order to give the interior a darker and more funereal atmosphere,[2] which compromised somewhat Soufflot's initial attempt at combining the lightness and brightness of the Gothic cathedral with classical principles.[3] The architecture of the Panthéon is an early example of Neoclassicism, surmounted by a dome that owes some of its character to Bramante's Tempietto. In 1851, Léon Foucault conducted a demonstration of diurnal motion at the Panthéon by suspending a pendulum from the ceiling, a copy of which is still visible today. As of December 2021 the remains of 81 people (75 men and six women) had been transferred to the Panthéon.[4] More than half of all the panthéonisations were made under Napoleon's rule during the First Empire.

Relaxing walking late at night. A lot of young people hanging there for socializing. Very beautiful and Gothic feeling. Very safe area with many shops and restaurants nearby

Absolutely worth it, so artsy with all the paintings and sculptures. Also recommended to climb up the stairs to the top. Great view to the Eiffel Tower and other famous Parisian places.
