The collection on display is very impressive and diverse, and the museum makes full use of the space available (making the visit enjoyable and smooth despite the hustle and crowds inside). The information provided about the collection on offer is also very interesting, and we learned a lot. There is a queue outside, even though tickets have been reserved, and it takes time to enter

Layout and museum prices aren’t clear! I paid 13 Euro per person including 5 years old. It is amazing as a museum and as number of animals displayed but sadly there’s not enough translation and coverage isn’t the best inside to use translation. Good thing; there are places to leave jackets bags or buggy to walk around freely.

Let's be honest - it's a great museum, but, museums exist to communicate and when the museum only has French explanations for 99.99% of the collection it fails to do this. Only 3.6% of the world speaks French, so for foreign visitors it is highly unlikely that they will be able process the provided information. At a minimum there should be English notes provided as this would cover many of the international visitors. There's no audio guide, no free WiFi, and inside it's ridiculously dark....so much so that even if you could read French you'd need to flash light to read the plaques. It had the potential to be great, but ultimately the visit was basically pointless. Unless you speak French I strongly recommend you give it a miss. :-(

I really wanted to love it more than I did, but I just couldn’t get there. The building itself is magnificent. Truly a grand gallery that is remarkable to behold. But it felt like a museum from 100 years ago, full of stuffed animals and static displays. And while I certainly respect the French language, the panels just need to be in multiple languages to truly get on the level of other international museums. I think kids would love this place, but we are two adults with no kids so it left us bored. It needs more interactive displays, multiple languages, better story telling, and less might be more. But it’s just our experience. I wish the place great success.

An imposing museum for its size but also for the large number of pieces that you can see, it is undoubtedly worth a visit. I was lucky enough to see a temporary exhibition about felines that was really good with lots of interactive elements.

Great place to visit. If I would visit this place at my childhood, I definitely would be more interested in scientific study of life. Made interactive, easily understandable and very well visualized. Left us very impressed together with gallery of Paleontology and Comparative Anatomy. Highly recommend to visit both this places, you will not regret.

Very worth a visit. Managed to obtain free admission with a student pass. Honestly I'd even be willing to pay up to 15 Euros for the museum itself. It was very impressive, many nice exhibits. Went on a weekend, it was slightly crowded but still manageable. Although a downside was- many of the descriptions were only in French but not too big of an issue with the help of Google Lens (translate).

the gallery is part of the whole museum of natural history and mineralogy. it is a beautiful 19th-century glass and metal structure with a huge two-level central gallery and a three-level balcony around the central section. the collection in the basement is that of marine animals, Interesting and very well done albeit too dark in some parts. On the upper level there is the part where the African savannah takes up the most space: beautiful specimens of animals very well stuffed or reproduced in other ways. in the balconies there are both other stuffed animals of all kinds but also interesting educational itineraries on topics such as climate change or sustainability as well as the part in augmented reality (separate ticket).

This place is soooo cool! During the day the lighting changes and you have different weather atmosphere inside (thunderstorm, light rain, night mood etc.) Great gor young and older kids and adjacent botanic garden invites for a run. Only negative point are the elevators, half of them were out of order with long waiting lines in front to get up.

We came there as a Group and loved our experience, great to learn things about animals in a tremendous setting in this marvelously designed buidling, one of the oldests' museums (1889) in Europe .

My 3 year old really enjoyed the museum. In addition to the animals and skeletons there are interactive educational displays. The museum is multi-floored with seating located throughout the museum, There is a cafe and gift shop too. If you are visiting on a weekend I would advise getting tickets in advance as there was a line on Saturday when we passed by. We visited on a weekday morning and had no wait.

I visited this place on our last day in Paris. It was fantastic!!! Free for people under 25, and only 10€ for anyone else. 3 floors all filled with animals from deep in the sea to up in the skies and not to mentionlight effects and sounds to fully immerse yourself. It's definitely a must-see.

One of my favorite museums in Paris. This place has a huge collection of thousands of different animals. What I enjoyed is that the environment sound and lighting changes to make you feel as if there was a storm, or if it was night already. For drawing this place is excellent !!

This Museum was absolutely incredible. The animals look so real and I much appreciate the depiction of Noah and the exodus of animals into the ark. It was awesome. When you visit, ensure you don't miss the floor dedicated to extinct animals (landed and aquatic) and insects as it teaches you to be more considerate about your actions. You also do not want to miss the immersive experience 'Revivre' created by Saola Studio. Check it out!

Amazing museum -- one of the best of its kind -- in a picturesque building with a lot of animal models looking extremely realistic. A good and very well-thought exhibition. The only minus that I could come up with is that all texts there are in French and it seems that nobody thought that this museum could be visited by tourists or someone else who doesn't know French that well.

Great museum for kids and grown ups. Admire the impressive architecture and the way the animals have been put together. The decor is really great and permanent exhibits quite dense. Worth spending time or come more than once.

Beautiful large museum filled to the brim with animals of all kinds. I was a little disappointed however as all information is in French and we had to queue for a very long time to get in. The Gallery of Paleontology has limited availability so be sure to book tickets online in advance so as not to miss out.

Impressive gallery and really clever way of exhibiting. The one thing that confuses is the sequence of exhibits as there is repetition and overlap across the floors. The restaurant was decent as well. We really likes the effects that mimic the storm coming.

I love this museum. It is designed beautifully, has a good collection of stuffed animals and I love how they have sounds and lighting effects (though it was a little bit scary for my little one). It also has a nice gift shop. The skeleton collection in the building across the park was also very interesting and the kids loved it. I recommend visiting both museums.

This place is an absolute jewel of prehistoric science in the Paris area! Been there multiple times and it’s fascinating every time. I will be honest in saying that this is a full day event if you want to see everything. It’s spaced on different floors and really massive! Awesome place!

Fun fact. In February it seemed like you could get inside quicker if you didn't purchase the tickets in advance. One of the best museums of that kind I have seen. I am sorry, but the one in Rome is not even near as good as this one. The museum is huge, there's a lot of learning for fans of anything living. The expositions are of very high quality, with imitation of day, evening, rain etc. A must visit.

This is a spectacular museum that has made a good job of enlivening a lot of stuffed animals. The building itself is great to see with lots of levels and great assemblies of animals and whales. Not all the exhibits are of high quality. The shark etc models were not up to the standard of other parts of the museum. I visited to see Felines, a temporary exhibition, which was good and drew on treasures from other French museums.

Great activity for families with kids. Only one elevator goes up to the third floor, the other one has a button for third but it doesn’t work. Also, kids gallery closes during summer holidays - not sure but July / august may not be the best period for that. At least it’s entirely free for kids under 26, so that’s a plus.

This Grande Galerie de l'Evolution has gone through an evolution itself. Located on the initial medicinal garden that was created by Louis XIII, it still remains a beatifull oasis in the middle of Paris. The building was abandonned for many years as the glass ceiling, already damaged by second world war bombs, couldnt be maintained anymore and the musuem closed down from 1966 towards 1994...in order to become one of the more spectacular museums of Paris. The ground floor was excavated to created 2 additional exhibition rooms where 2 huge sceletons of sea mamals are the eye catcher. The ground floor houses a collection of mostly african mamals. The higher floors show the impact of humans on nature and landscapes and evolution of life. You can easily splend some hours in here and enjoy the stuffed animals at display while a continuous simulation of day and night is played, including thunder and rainbow.

The grande galerie de l'évolution is a stunning building with almost every species imaginable inside. Learn all about all the different animals, plants and more. How did we get such a diverse set of living things in this wonderful world. You can find it all out this museum. Some of the elevators were broken when we visited which is a problem for someone with knee problems. But the four stories of wonder were worth it.

When you come in you might ask yourself if it was worth it, until you notice it's 4 floors and some small things. The sealing changes colour according to the sound that is played. It has a day/night rhythm including bird and insect sounds, rainy days and more. Definitely worth visiting!

(Translated by Google) Hello During my visit on Wednesday October 14 at the exhibition of precious stones, I met an elderly person at the reception in great difficulty. This gentleman of around 70 wanted to visit the exhibition in question. Not only was he unable to return because he was unable to buy a ticket on the spot, but the reception staff were also categorically refusing to come to his aid. I find it unacceptable that this gentleman is deprived of culture which I remind should be accessible to all because, because of his age, he is not able to use the internet. I know that the barrier measures for covid are important but given the queue that we made my friends and I just after this gentleman could very well have been able to buy his ticket at the reception. The agents as I said previously did not try to help him and did not take into account his handicap (hearing impairment), I had to stop helping him, explaining to him , transcribe to him what these agents said. And when we tried to take a ticket using my phone, although the site still advertises seats we were unable to reserve one. An exhibition and a museum should be accessible to all and you did not take our elders into account. The Internet is not yet used by everyone. Good day to you PS I did not wish to come and make this comment here since it does not relate exactly to the gallery of evolution but an exhibition located in the building but as you will be able to see with my attachment impossible to send comments on the site despite several days of testing.

(Translated by Google) Hello, Thursday 10/15, I went with a friend to the GG for the Pierres Precieuses exhibition. Not having a precise schedule, we had, wrongly, not booked online. On site, it was impossible to buy tickets on our phones. We ask for help at the reception. 6 people in the hall including one behind a counter, taped to his cell phone. Eventually looking up, she told me that no fund is open due to the Covid (a backup could be maintained!). 3 other security guards alternate between "you should have booked madam" and exchanges in a foreign language, which I find incorrect. My friend being with a crutch, I ask "can you help us with our online shopping?", Without success. I get a little annoyed, saying that the welcome is always so pleasant at the MNHN (I know what I'm talking about, I managed a zoo at the Museum for 3 years). Finally, a woman working at the GG, present on the turnstile side, approached and literally kicked us out. "No one in the lobby, go outside and buy your tickets on your phones." The problem is not on the subject, it is on the form, the way of treating the public. We must not confuse communication (remarkable at the MNHN) and reception of the public. I will undoubtedly come back before June to visit the expo but I wanted to tell you how shocked we were at the way we were "fired" ... I managed for 25 years establishments open to the public and I know the constraints. Cordialement,

(Translated by Google) Very nice museum, with a very nice panel of species. However, it would have been nice to have a children's course, booklet or other.

My favourite museum in Paris, the exhibits are fascinating and the animated ceiling is gorgeous. Don't miss out on this one!

Great place to visit with young kids. It is lovely to make them familiar with all the animals that live on our planet, on the land or in the sea. The attached park and zoo makes it even more worthwhile to spend a full day there. Loved it and my daughter Cassandra also. We go every year here.

Beautiful museum with a large amount of stuffed/mounted flora and fauna to be seen, it’s such a shame they have so few exhibits with English, hence 4/5

Great place for family. The kids were so intrigued by the exhibition. The architecture was also beautiful. Highly recommend families to visit this place.

One of the most amazing natural history museums in the world. The way of them putting exhibit together is very creative. The museum mimics different kind of weather, time of the day, and the lights and sound effect will change accordingly. The exhibition starts from the sea animals in the entrance and move one floor up to the grand lobby which shows the land animals. Super interesting stuff in a beautifully built Beaux art building

A grand building and a great attraction for everybody, children and grown-ups. Extensive coverage of biology and fauna, in particularly. Unfortunately, it is mostly in French only. The newer samples and objects are also in English. There is a small café, but although in France, no wine is served. 10 euros for entry.

Ideal to do with the youth. Interesting but not too big. I recommend reviver. You have to book reviver, it’s really cool

Great place to visit but probably not on Sundays. It was full of people and families which normally is okay but the vast open space made it extremely noisy. The specimens are interesting and the whole visit is overall pleasant. Nevertheless, if one has to choose between this and the zoo, the latter is a more interesting visit.

I believe evolution museum should show something particular about evolution. It was full of plastic animals that were good, but not a real path about evolution. I expect a good journey into revolution theory and having some real scientific knowledge. It could be better and more informative.

You could spend hours in here, walk around and still see something new. This is such an amazing museum with a lot of very well done taxidermy. It is in all French but good ol Google Lens will get you through. There is a little cafe on the second floor for refreshments and a small gift shop at the end. There is also another museum in the back corner where you can pay extra to see their endangered animals exhibit (I did not do this so I can not attest for how good that one is.)

A great learning place for kids! Definitely a must visit in Paris for families with young kids. Amazed by the collection of animals displayed. Kids can get to learn about various animals, evolution and extinct animals. There are lighting and sounds of rain/ thunder within, rainbow lighting displayed on the ceiling after “rain”. Love the experience!

A great place to visit with children who like animals. Exhibits of large animals are placed so that children can view them in great detail. Unfortunately, the captions are mostly only in French, but if you use the translator on your phone, nothing will spoil your fun.

Excellent museum exhibition, very informative and well organized. Four stories high, you need to allow yourself a whole afternoon to visit (there are side exhibitions as well, which are not to be missed). I found the artificial thunderstorm quite scary, but well worth the experience.

This year there is this amazing exhibition about felines, that is just amazing, very informative and well done. I'd definitely recommend, the museum itself unfortunately although big itself doesn't count with explanations with such extend of detail, additionally the cafe inside is overpriced even for Paris standards.

Small but amazing exposition of prehistoric and current animals. Very visually pleasing space. From time to time the simulate weather events like thunders with sound and visuals, in the building. On the 1st floor there is a nice cafe to take a break - probably the best one in Jardin des Plantes is located in here.

Everything is in French, why bother with English? Not much interactive displays for kids. One exception: Feline temporary display. This one is nicely interactive and most things are also in English. But in a typical french fashion - not everything is translated.

Went there with three kids. Lots and lots of stuffed animals. The special exhibition about felines costs extra, but at least the information is also in English and not just in French. That was the best part. The main hall is atmospheric, but all signs are in French. The kids thought it was quite interesting but I lacked a bit more pedagogical material about evolution (this aspect was better presented in the special exhibition).

Sehr tolles Museum!

It is a great collection and could be interesting for kids. There are two big problems: 1. The name of the galary is "evolution," but you only see a collection of species there. On the third floor, a little bit of the evolution is shown, but that's it. So, if you are interested in evolution, I do not recommend it. 2. It is 99% for French speakers. If you do not know French, I again do not recommend it. The other minor problem is that some species are hand-made and not real. Overall, to me, it's like a zoo of statues and taxidermies. Could be interesting to have a visit, but do not expect more.

Evolution indeed... Great place for kids and grownups. Make reservation because you risk to remain outside...we wanted to see also the "Lost world" in VR but it was fully booked so... Overall a great experience
