We happened upon this place while walking around Paris on foot (I saw it on the map). It's a free Holocaust museum. The exterior is pretty interesting, with the star of David pattern. You have to go through mild security to enter, but I believe the whole museum is available free of charge. It's quite extensive inside. We didn't have a ton of time to spend, or we probably could have stayed longer. As it was, we were probably in there for a good two hours. There's tons of material inside, and all the written displays were in English as well as French. The video and audio presentations were only in French, as to be expected. I actually learned a lot about the impact of World War 2 in France. If you're happening by and have some time to read exhibits, I'd recommend it!

Touching Experience: "Shoah" is Hebrew term for "destruction", and this museum is dedicated to the victims of such catastrophe. I had been to the entrance of the museum 3 times and every time, I just could not make myself go inside it. I spent almost 3 hours inside the museum and afterwards I was drained emotionally, the whole place leaves you exhausted and the people who went through this, my heart went out to them. Oh man, why you do this to your fellow beings! Take time to go through it, some of the videos are so moving, it is difficult to even see the entire piece. And then there is hope at the end of it all, hopeful recollection from the survivors, from the people who helped them. To go through this kind of experience and not have even an iota of bitterness towards others, only a GREAT human being can achieve this. Respect, I salute to the resilient human spirit. And do not miss "The Wall of the Righteous" outside the museum dedicated to the people who helped while risking their own lives. Great human spirit...

In my many trips to Paris, I have never been here even though I have always wanted to come here. I am glad I know French because I was able to understand the testimonial videos from survivors and reading the French texts of the children of the Rwandan genocide were emotional. You don’t have to know French as many things have translations, but it is helpful in the areas that aren’t translated.

You can look up your family members who were murdered on the computers opposite the front desk. The forth floor has an electronic record retrieval area where you can read the dossiers etc. it’s too bad they won’t email these to you.

One of the places no person should miss visiting while being in Paris. I have spend several hours there. Went out as a different person. Exhibition and custodians are exceptional.

Incredibly moving monument to the righteous men and women who helped almost 2/3rd of Parisian Jewish families escape the worst of the Holocaust. Exceptional tour with Emmanuel on Jewish quarter.

Even if the Shoah is not a part of our history that is dear to you, I would still recommend you sit down for a while in the small park closing the island - it is a surprisingly silent, mesmerisingly hidden haven where you can rest and reset your battery whilst in the very core of the city

I just attended service for Holocaust remembrance Day. The cancer was amazing and sadly I couldn't stop crying. Is very touching ceremony and it was very interesting because there was no rain during the ceremony and when the ceremonies stopped the rain started to pound like it was hitting you. Felt like it was some kind of divine intervention. Very powerful to be in Paris on Holocaust remembrance Day. The French were with their Vichy government. Shameful and disgraceful. I found the remembrance touching.

Well done description of the Holocaust in Paris, taking responsibility for French crimes after many years of "amnesia". Not to assign blame, but to learn from the past to--hopefully--not make the same mistakes in the future

I even had the opportunity to speak with a deportee who died in the camps, and I had to sign a compensation check for him. There's an exbition near this memorial, about different genocides having happened in the past.. You heard, "never again" but you know the next one will find a way to exist! Humans are a "failed" specie.. From Herrero, to Jews, to Tutsis.. Millions of beings dead bdcause of being "different"...

Probably one of the more detailed Holocaust museums I have ever been too. Gave very descriptive information about French history but also entire Holocaust history, plus WWII and after. Ended up being there for a good chunk of time. Obviously tough experience but the museum is excellent and would highly recommend.

This important museum tells the story of the Jewish community in France and particularly in Paris, the deportation, the collaboration of the french regim , the police, the church but also the civilias in the ilimination of the jews in France. There were also those (small group of french non Jewish) roughly around 1,500 of angels who were willing to risk their lives for their fellow Jewish neighbours. They did not follow other antisemites who portrayed jews as bunch of monsters that should only find their bitter end in the infernos. Thank you so much for your bravory. Very sad, but those are the disputed facts!

(Translated by Google) Beautiful memorial of the Shoah that guarantees dignity to each of the numerous victims. I recommend a visit because in addition to being a place of peace, deep and historically rich, it is necessary to remember so that these tragedies do not repeat themselves in the course of history. Admission is free and paid audio guides are available. I found the possibility to stop on special benches and watch the documentaries and the various testimonies of the survivors super interesting. Really touching There is also the presence of a room for the education of children so that they too can learn what has been. I find this a great educational idea to train better adults. Lastly, I would like to point out the presence of a national document archive and a consultation room on the top floor. In addition to the ability to search for the name of anyone we have an interest in searching.

(Translated by Google) How many stars should you give to a place that commemorates the greatest suffering in recent human history? Yet. I visited the memorial yesterday, a day before the day of remembrance for the German resistance fighters who risked their lives to say NO and stop. The men and women who could no longer stand to see the land of poets and thinkers become a murderous country. A country whose rulers endorsed and promoted the lowest qualities and instincts in people. We all know where that led. The Mémorial de la Shoa in Paris is one of the places that reminds of the unimaginable horror. To the people who not only lost their homes in France through deportation, but who were also brought to places where the term was used << Human dignity >> was degraded to a foreign word. The Mémorial de la Shoa in its current form was on Þ27. January 2005 in the 4th arrondissement, the Marais district. Founded by Isaak Schneersohn and inaugurated, among others also in the presence of President Jacques Chirac and Baron Rothschild. Visit this place when you are in Paris. It won't be an easy, carefree visit, but a necessary one. And, to return to my initial question: I give 5 stars, where I would have to give myself millions of stars.
