(Translated by Google) Wonderful museum, but packed with people when I went to see the Christian Dior exhibition yesterday. In addition the room is not at all air conditioned and it was literally a "sauna" thanks to the human warmth from the entrance. The agents at the entrance check the ticket, but not the number of visitors. I couldn't concentrate on the exhibition. So it was a waste of money for me. I like to visit museums while traveling in Europe, but I have never seen a museum of such size and such reputation which completely neglects the comfort of the visitors. I recommend going there lightly dressed with a fan or a handheld fan.

What a nice surprise! It reminds me a lot of V&A in London and this museum is also quite big (not as big). The collection is quite diverse and interesting, especially the special exhibitions. The only complain I have is the navigation is not very easy, I ended up missed most part of the permanent collection (tip: one of the Thursdays will open till 9pm, but only the temporary and modern part! The permanent collection will still be closed by 6p)

I saw the Iris Van Herpen exhibit and was blown away! The ambiance, the lighting, the spiral staircase, the music, and the display layout itself was incredibly well done. A must see! I also saw the sport fashion exhibit which was fascinating.

The museum is putting up a new show. The guidance for the current exhibition wasn’t well signed. Several people had trouble following where to exit. Your security guard in the gift shop is extremely rude and unprofessional. It wasn’t clear where to exit from the bookshop either. You need to train the staff better to welcome visitors. Some very interesting pieces from the early development of decorative arts.

Beautiful museum connected to, but not a part of the Louvre museum. This museums permanent collection contains decorative items like furniture, jewelry, toys, rugs, silverware etc. Definitely worth a visit.. it also shows amazing temporary exhibits like the Dior or the Jean Paul Gaultier collection and more recently the Thierry Mugler collection. So, if you are in Paris, definitely check what is on display here.

Definitely worth visiting! Don't miss the temporary exposition of Iris van Herpen! The only downside is the art deco section being under reparation.

It is smart to reserve a timeslot in advance, otherwise you have to wait in line. I think we waited for around 15 minutes which isn't bad but of course having a ticket would be faster. I went on a Wednesday at the end of the day and it was perfect and not too crowded. The exhibitions they had were amazing! It is also free for anyone between ages 18-25. The pictures were from the Iris van Herpen exhibition which was so big and amazing!

Iris Van Herpen: SCULPTING THE SENSES exhibition. The first room is outstanding. Such an incredible display of clothes, lighting and mannequins. As the exhibition goes on and you can see her influence of nature into her clothes, everything really does come together. Beautiful staging, the music and sound really added something extra and the introduction of other standout art pieces was really quite perfect. The captions were very considered as all of her collaborators were credited. Towards the end, I was looking for other ideas and inspiration to justify such a large exhibition but it's an essential experience if you are in Paris and love fashion.

No longer have the ESPACES MODE ET TEXTILE, as falsely advertised on the Paris Museum Pass. Unless you're really into furniture (tons of chairs!) and home decor over the ages, it's only worth a visit if you're interested in a particular exhibition. The permanent collection has rooms styled by different centuries, as well as lots of decorative objects (vases, clocks, dinnerware, etc). There is no fashion or textile arts in the permanent collection, which was very disappointing and unexpected. Unfortunately I came right before the Japanisme exhibition was due to open--definitely check their website to see if there are any ongoing exhibitions before going.

I went here 2 times. First for Cristian Dior Exhibition and this time is for SHOCKING! LES MONDES SURRÉALISTES D’ELSA SCHIAPARELLI. Both exhibition is so amazing. Mostly I took 2 hour for the visiting and purchased the ticket through online site via billetterie.madparis.fr The souvenir shop has a wide selection of products from the exhibition itself and others like book, bags, jewelley and so on.

Loved the schiapparelli exhibit!!! So informative and what an amazing collection of fashion! Special mention to the collection of Salvador Dali art! I had no idea they collaborated. Just so much cool stuff to see!! The Lady Gaga inauguration dress as well as her vogue spread wear were there. So was the famous Bella Hadid lung necklace. Just so cool to see all of these iconic pieces of pop culture irl! Schappiarelli has been on the forefront of fashion for a long time. The only thing I wish is for better gift shop items. I actively wanted to buy something from the Schappiarelli collection but nothing appealed to me

A bit dissapointing, not very interesting. The floors are extremely confusing and don't go by chronological order, the museum doesn't even have a map leaflet. I felt like I wasted my money, first time I felt like this about a museum.

The Musee des Arts Decoratifs has really cool stuff to offer! I didn't hear much about this museum besides through the Paris Museum Pass website so I figured it was a hidden gem. It's right next to the Louvre and there was no waiting in line! 👍 It's a great additional stop on your museum itinerary if you're into decor, furniture, jewelry, etc. When we visited, there was also an exhibit on hair and wigs. The gift shop was not super big but not small either. I'm taking off one star because I feel the museum is lacking in signage. When we entered, the security guards told us to check our bags but it wasn't obvious that the coatroom was on the floor below. Secondly, some of the elevators didn't go to all the floors. We took an elevator at the end, thinking it would lead to the floor with the coatroom but it didn't so we ended up going back up and opted to find stairs instead. So I think there is room for improvement in signage.

After / before visiting the Louvre please visit this museum! The architecture is impressive, but also the exhibitions also (the sport-related one which are on my photos is opened until 7th April 2024). Go easy: buy your tickets online to the timeslot which is the most convenient for you.

Lovely experience. The focus is on home decorations through out French history. So much to see: modern and ancient. Staff was very friendly. A good number of them spoke English, which was great. This museum is part of the Louvre building. The permanent tour starts on the third floor and goes up to the ninth floor. The views from the upper floor are spectacular. The second floor houses the temporary exhibit, which was a jewelry collection.

Go visit! A wonderful walk through the history of the decorative arts. From middle ages to nowadays, the best is showcased here. While the permanent collection is amazing, the museum also displays great temporary exhibition often relating to fashion. A must see right next to Le Louvre.

(Translated by Google) From theft. I have no other words for a museum that allows itself to close its cases at 5.15 p.m., but which evacuates people from 5.45 p.m. The full price ticket for the temporary exhibition costs € 14 ("LUXES" exhibition), and nothing is indicated above regarding the closing of the museum. Clearly I'm going to ask for a refund or a second ticket to see my show, which I couldn't do until the end. If a member of the museum sees my opinion, I will be happy for them to answer me and explain how it is possible to see the proposed exhibition in 1/2 hour. A little honesty, at least have the decency to close your tills by 4 p.m. at the latest.

The exhibit on the evolution of photography is not to be missed. It tracks photography as it grew from an idiosyncratic medium to art. Very well done and very interesting. Also, don’t miss the jewelry exhibition on the second level. A very worthwhile visit. We give it four clams on the coveted Five Quahog rating scale.

Two outstanding exhibits currently at this museum. Thierry Mugler retrospective with many of his ourltlandish and innovative designs. Many Cartier designed jewelry pieces displayed, which was influenced by Muslim artworks. The building alone is worth the price of admission. I bought tickets online for both exhibits and timed them 1 after the other (I did Mugler first). I had to exit the building and re-enter for exhibit #2. The "pass sanitaire" was requested by personnel to gain entrance. I had the pass and the tickets on my phone which was easy.

Great Schiaparelli exhibit. Very advisable to book any special exhibit and this was doubly so Paris fashion week weekend. Don’t arrive more than 30 mins before your booked time though as you won’t be allowed in. Whilst a previous reviewer likens it to the V and A, having visited that frequently sadly there aren’t bag storage facilities here like at the V and A and you’ll be turned away with trolley bags! Thankfully a helpful member of the public directed us to the Art Cafe 10 mins walk round the corner who will store your case for 5 euros and is a lovely place for lunch/dinner when collecting them after. Gift shop was well stocked with usual museum prices.

This is a large museum with an excellent collection of decorative arts. The broad collections range from the very modern and go back into the ancient past. This is a gem of a museum. It took us several hours even for a cursory look at everything. I do wish the floors were laid out in a more chronological way. The floors and passageways guiding between different areas of the museum jump from one historical period to another, and that was jarring. Nevertheless I highly recommend a visit. It is located in the Louvre plaza and is within an easy walk from the metro.

Located within the Louvre area but operating as a separate museum, the Musee des Art Decoratifs (Decorative Arts Museum) offers a miscellaneous collection of arts and craft items, from cabinetry to tapestries, ornamental vases and paintings...including a post-modern section of furniture and homewares...it is truly quite ecclectic and and nice change of pace from all the other fine arts museums in the area. It was not busy (which is a nice break from the hectic scene at the Louvre or D'Orsay) and is relatively easy to navigate just note that the more modern offerings are towards the rear of the museum and on high levels. At the entrance turn to the right and walk up the main stair case then do floor by floor. On the opposite side of the long hall from where you enter you need to take the elevator to the upper floors to see the more modern collection. TIME TO DO: You could rush-walk the museum in an hour but I would budget 90-120 minutes to get the full experience. Also there are some nice views of the right bank looking onto the left bank including a distant view of the Eiffel tower...see photos for examples. Enjoy!

This museum can have very interesting temporary exhibitions. The one I saw was dedicated timo hair. Really interesting. I wish I would have had the chance to see either Mugler or Schiaparelli. Maybe some other time :) But depending on the temporary exhibition, I would say check it out.

Iris van Herpen's exhibition is truly breathtaking, captivating even those unfamiliar with the fashion industry. She stands out as one of the few designers seamlessly blending digital and craftsmanship techniques. Her adept fusion of materials, colors, and inspirations breathes life into stunningly unique dresses. From 3D-printed garments to intricately crafted mixed-media pieces, her work is a testament to innovation. I highly recommend purchasing tickets online in advance to avoid unnecessary waiting.

(Translated by Google) The first part of the exhibition on fashion and fashion magazines is fun and very well explained; I learned a lot, including that Balanciaga was a big luxury brand at the time and that it did not produce sock shoes but beautiful suits, as well as beautiful collector's dresses. However, the architecture part is much less fun and quite monotonous, even if the drawings presented are very beautiful. Obviously, if you go to this museum in the morning, plan to have some money to eat around as the prices are high in this area. Bien évidemment, si vous allez à ce musée le matin, prévoyez de l’argent pour manger aux alentours car les prix sont élevés dans ce coin.

I head to the MAD every time I'm in Paris-- its dazzling array of beautiful, even wacky, objects and furniture always leave me gobsmacked. Get the lift to the 5th floor( or higher) and walk your way down to view each floor-- you'll need to ask directions. But staff have good English. My favourite section, Art Deco, was closed for restoration, but I managed to see their sublime collection of Art Nouveau, and Modernist furniture. And you can catch great views of the green avenues and parks from the windows; great photo opportunities.

Exhibit is fine. But why do museums make it so hard to book tickets online. This one is not alone but it was particularly frustrating. I will probably only attend this museum once in several years. But you have to register, then confirm, then go through a convoluted process to pay. It's really not worth it. And frustrating to give up so much personal information to simply buy a ticket and spend 15 minutes buying. Not doing this again. I hope museums realize they lose customers this way.

Loved it here. The Thierry Mugler exhibition had so many cool pieces, I will definitely come here next time in Paris. Really nice that they frequently change the exhibitions.

The exhibitions are really messy and it’s difficult to understand the path of the museum. Most of the people working there don’t speak English and are not really polite.

5/5 for the exhibits. 2/5 for the unpleasant gallery staff who gave me stinkeye because I still existed 15 mins before closing. The permanent exhibitions are more interesting than I expected.

The rooms that were open (not sure why, but the renaissance parts were closed the day I went) were amazing and beautiful. Highly recommended if you enjoy staring at furniture and pretty glittering things.

The floors at the top are really neat, but the space is cooler than the exhibit.

Terrific museum & very cool expo about the 1980s…watch out for the little rats in the garden. After the museum visit, consider lunch/dinner at Loulou the museum restaurant…

Quite interesting visit. We went to see the exhibit about the hair in history. Not unforgettable. But enjoyed another temporary show about the 80s design. Loved the record covers and the forniture design with signatures such as Ettore Sottsas to fashion pieces by JP Gautier. The main salon is beautiful, not surprise being part of the Louvre huge building. Particularly good is the bookshop or better the design store at the end.

Turned out to be a really nice discovery! Beautiful and sophisticated furniture and decorations. Not overcrowded like Louvre. I totally enjoyed here 👍🏻

Excellent museum with some gorgeous displays. Although next door to the Louvre, there were no queues, and no crowds. Also brilliant views.

Didn't go inside after being mistreated at the entrance. As we were entering, a women told us most of the permanent exposition was closed and we could only see the temporary expositions. She disappeared afterwards, so we were wandering if we still could see some parts which interested us the most. It could be OK, but this was only the start of a very bad experience. As we were looking at the temporary expositions' flyers, the guards started rushing us out or in, while there was plenty of space in the lobby. As we were discussing the expositions and trying to find out what parts of the permanent exposition were closed, one of my daughters went to the bathroom and was stopped by one of the guards, but other people without ticket were allowed to go to the bathroom. It seems like prejudice was involved from the part of the guards. Really disappointing, as this was supposed to be one of the high points of our visit to Paris.

Excellent museum. The most thoughtfully curated collection of vintage & antique relics of fashion by Alaia. These pieces by Schiaparelli were unbelievable to see in person. And the grounds of the museum are gorgeous, so plan for extra time to walk around the gardens. 😍
