Was very neat to visit and learn about the history of the Sultan there. You could also see gifts from ambassadors of many countries. There were barely any people so very easy to visit. And no fee. Just take your shoes off before and put your bag in a locker. Pictures are allowed in the main area but not inside.

Nice museum with an eclectic collection of presents to the Sultan of Brunei, from heads of states, ministers and others representatives. You have to take off your shoes before entering and the entrance fee for foreigners is $5. Unfortunately some sections have such a cold floor that I couldn't visit them even with socks. So take sockets, maybe an extra pair. And you need to lock any bags in the lockers, provided for free. Pictures can be taken, but not video.

A must visit place in Bandar Seri Begawan. Must remove shoes before entering. Lockers are provided upon entry. A nice way to spend an afternoon. An hour is not enough to explore the exhibits. This is the most famous museum of Brunei I have read many reviews saying the museum is very small and only takes 1 hour to visit. However not so, the museum has a lot of articles about the king, the palace and the history of this country, if you really enjoy reading you will know a lot more about this country. It took me 3 hours trying to read it all but couldn't make it in time and I really want to come back here.

A good place to have a nice idea about Belait heritage and culture with it is located at former district officer house. The problem is the location is a little bit hidden from the town center, and the sign board are small and no direction that shows where the museum located.

There are areas that is far too cold in here - wear some socks or have them with you as you feet will be freezing if you do not. Our taxi driver suggested visiting the museum, so he took us there. You have to leave your shoes outside on a shelf, wear socks if you don't want to walk barefoot. It was 5 Brunei dollars each. They give you a key to a locker to put your bag in and return the key when you are leaving. You are allowed to take photos, but no videos. The section with the replica of the throne no photos allowed, it is guarded by army officers. It is a fascinating insight to the Sultans life and his years studying at Sandhurst Military Academy up in the UK and travelling around the world. There are lots of gifts given to him by other countries which are fascinating. The museum is very clean, worth a visit. It wasn't busy when we went, there is a car park opposite if you are driving, not expensive to park.

Spend some time to learn of Brunei's history, specifically Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. Tips: Bruneian enter free, foreigners 5 Dollars for adults and 3 dollars for children. No camera or video, only phones allowed. You have to leave your belongings in the lockers at the entrance. Photos using your phones are allowed except in 2 areas, and videos are absolutely prohibited. Pro tip: use the panorama feature in your phone.

A great way to learn about the Sultan, Brunei and see some of the spectacular gifts. We really, really enjoyed it and would reccomend to any visitor. We were pleased to do this early in our trip and we learnt a lot and made us appreciate other aspects of our time in Brunei.

One of the most interesting and enjoyable museums I've had the pleasure of exploring. Entrance is free (as seems to be the norm in Brunei), and you can wear whatever clothing you would like, though of course be respectful. The staff working here are also very friendly and seem to really enjoy seeing foreign tourists experiencing the museum. Unfortunately, as is also the norm in Brunei, you must leave all your bags and cameras/phones at the front - lockers are free and you can carry the key with you as you explore the museum, but this means that you can't take any photos around the museum, which is a real shame because of how extremely beautiful it is! This museum focuses on the history of the sultans of Brunei, as well as the incredible gifts that foreign countries have given to the sultan. It is, in a word, incredible! There is also a respectable gift shop and mostly clean bathrooms. Some things to note: they begin closing some parts of the museum about 30 minutes before official closing time, so make sure you come early. Shoes must be left at the front door, but no worries as this is very customary in Brunei. Last but not least, you may take photos around the central area - just not beyond the central area.

Huge Museum with many of the gifts to the Sultan, weapons and clothes. Also two very impressive state carriages used at different ceremonies are on display. The entrance is free. Shoes must be left outside - shoe-shelves are available. Proper attire is essential to enter. Cameras and mobile phones must be left by the entrance. locker-boxes and coat/bag check are also available. There is also a small gift-shop. The staff of the museum is more or less friendly. The museum is sort of a shrine for the emperor and his family. The wealth and the number of objects on display are impressive. Its pretty cold (AC) inside - you may want to bring a jacket or light sweater.

It's an okay place to visit close to Radisson hotel and in the downtown area. To be honest the gifts from the other nations weren't too interesting, but this place is still worth a visit given that there aren't that many attractions in the city in the first place. Staff were really friendly and smile every time you pass by, which is rare in many museums and very much appreciated.

I recently visited the museum and had a positive experience. There are a few rules to follow: shoes must be left in a designated drawer or locker, and bags should be stored in another locker secured with a key provided by the staff. The entry ticket costs 5 Brunei Dollars, and the tour typically takes around 2 hours. I purchased an audio guide for 12 Brunei Dollars, which was available in English and covered about half of the exhibition spots. Despite the audio guide not covering all areas, informative descriptions were available throughout the museum. The museum provides extensive information about the royal family, making it a worthwhile visit.

The only museum I have visited where you have to take your shoes off to enter. It is also one of the only visitor attractions in Brunei you have to pay to enter. You have to have 5 Brunei Dollars in cash, cards not accepted. However, the museum inside is a very impressive and calm environment. Museum is dedicated to Sultan of Brunei and has carriages from ceremonies and lots of the gifts he has received. I believe that you used to be unable to take photos inside, but now phone photos are permitted. Overall a nice museum and worth a visit.
