So we decided to check this spot out and fell in love with it!! Has a nice vibe, good food and great music. DJ played a lot of our old school cuts and house music. We enjoyed our drinks and the crowd was reasonable. You can actually walk around and see across the room. There wasn’t a cover charge that night which I also liked!! Plenty of free parking. A must to check out if you are in the area.

My 1st time patronizing this business and it seemed like a fun place. The customer service started out pretty bad as it took the bartenders almost 15 mins just to take our drink order. Once they bartender took our order the service recovered. My friend and I came for brunch and music as the DJ played some 80's and 90's music. I ordered the catfish & grits which was delicious although the portion was pretty small for the amount. Overall, good vibes and delicious food.

I ordered the Loaded Seafood Baked Potato without mushrooms. The menu stated salmon, crab cake, shrimp, broccoli, green peppers, mushrooms, cheese and sour cream. I received the baked potato with salmon, shrimp, broccoli, mushrooms and cheese. I did not receive the crab cake or sour cream. (I requested, no mushrooms). I asked the server about the crab cake, she said she would have the cook prepare the crab cake. The crab cake was prepared and sent to me on a plate that was chipped. I brought this to the server’s attention and the manager. I received excuses and an apology and $6 of my bill. Bringing food out on a plate that is chipped is unacceptable! I did not eat the crab cake. The level of professionalism and attention to detail is not present at this establishment. I was totally disappointed. I will not patronize Red Star again.

Had the Greatest experience!!! My server was amazing very helpful with putting on the game for me and my friend. food came out fast drinks came out lighting speed for a busy Sunday. everything was delicious! i will definitely be back excellent atmosphere can’t wait till tell everyone about this new establishment in my neighborhood

If I could give this place a -5 I would. Super dope thats it's a black owned lounge, BUT everything else from there was terrible! We had a party of 27 that arrived at 145pm, they sat us in the back "luxury" patio which we paid $150 for each cabana. We had 1 server attend to us, we waited at least 30 mins for the 1st round of drinks. We ordered food at 245pm for maybe 20 ppl (they servings are pretty good). We received 1/4 of our food at 5pm. Which would have been understandable if they had a full house! We talked to a "manager" which said she couldnt do anything, which upset a lot of people. We go inside to talk to another "manager" & there are kids runnin around the place. With adults, alcohol, hookah, & loud music. After all the back & forth we were still charged over $250 for drinks & food of which we didnt receive. To the owners i understand we living in tuff times but you invest too much money to have ANYBODY working there. Your management & employees do not care about good service. I will never come go back to this location & wouldn't advise anyone with a big group to visit. Lastly, the 15, 18, & 20% gratiuity is INSANE when you don’t have a strong serving staff, bartenders were a little better but yall def need bar rescue.

Delicious food and music. I visited this establishment Saturday and there a few birthdays being celebrated and there was a DJ in the back playing a variety of R&B genres. There are two bars and Red Star, one bar is in the front and one in the back. We sat in the back at the bar and really had a good time drinking and enjoyed our lunch which consisted of fried catfish and grits. I will definitely be back for the food!

Rochelle Hawk, Sales Director and her Rich Ready "Anchored" Achievers team of Mary Kay cosmetics celebrated our annual sales success party at the amazing Red Star restaurant. The food was asolutely great! Although we had a large group of people, they had an awesome team of welcoming wait staff who took care of all our needs with fast and accurate service. The music was great, we danced, we ate good and celebrated well on their beautiful outdoor patio. Thank you for such an amazing time. We are planning to return again soon.

Great spot. The catfish and grits were FIRE! Everything was delicious. The food did take awhile to come out and we were the first table there when they opened. Worth the wait tho! I'm glad they add gratituity. I see some complain about the in the comments but I think it's more convenient. Love supporting Black owned.

First of all not sure but they charged $10.00 to get in. The drink was pretty good, ordered the catfish sliders. The catfish and fries was cold. Told he waiter who told a manager I guess, who came to the table and asked if I wanted more food. No, I did not want more food the wait was already long for the food. No I will not be returning

My friend and I were looking for somewhere to have brunch and she recommended this place since she came here before. We went about noon and it wasn't too crowded. The food was pretty good (I recommend the praline waffles..delicious)and so were the drinks. I want to call it a champagne tower for mimosas(don't know the exact name my friend ordered it before it go there). It was 60 bucks. We had a nice server as well. My only negative was the place was giving off club vibes so it was pretty loud. They also add an automatic tip onto the bill which I'm learning a lot more places are doing now😒. But if you're in the area try it out.

I never have been to this place, but decided to give it a try because I have heard about it and always drive past when going to Pete’s and they be packed. My first and last experience. Don’t get me wrong the music was nice I can admit but the overall experience was horrible. 1st we got there at 9:00 pm there was a $10 per person coverage charge when we walked in. The sitting was very scarce so we found a table to sit. One of the waiters told us we couldn’t sit there because there had to be 5 of us. Ok understandable. She moved us to a booth by the door and told us our waiter will be there shortly. 30 -35 minutes of waiting we got water. Another 15 minutes the waiter came and took our order and said she can’t take our food order until another 15 minutes because the kitchen was backed up. She took the drink order and it took another 20-25 minutes to get our drinks. Mind you still haven’t taken our food order. I look back and the cover charge sign they made was gone so now they not charging to get in. Finally she came and took our food order. I ordered wings with mild thinking it’s mild hot and my sister mild with garlic Parmesan Ranch. 20-25 minutes later our food came out. Now during this process we seen 2 older ladies come in way after us. Sat at the 5 seated table which was only them and got their food wayyy before we did. When the food came out I taste mine and ask the waiter to come back. I said is this mild sauce she said yes like Harold’s. I said the menu say mild so I’m thinking hot mild not Harold’s mild sauce. I tell her I can’t eat this I will get sick. She tells her manager and they take it off. Mind you the menu does not say mild sauce or say mild. My sister plate as posted is the Gaelic Parmesan ranch. Instantly I’m like what is this. So unacceptable. No checkup is everything okay nothing. She comes back 30 minutes later and ask my sister did she want a box. Absolutely not. I paid our bill negative on tip which she rolled her eyes about and had a straight attitude. We left and that was the first and last visit. Too overrated

Hadn't been in years but RedStar definitely did not disappoint! Absolutely loved every bite of food my friend and I ordered! I ordered the chicken tacos during happy hour that were literally only $1.50 each, an order of nachos with chicken, and a Piña colada! My friend had tacos and Boom Boom Shrimp and I must say I had a bite of the Boom Boom Shrimp and it was pretty tasty too! The waiter was attentive and the food came out promptly.

It's a great lounge. It has a little dance floor but they play good music on Fridays and Saturdays. The drinks a little pricey but their good, plus they have to make up for the free entry. Saturdays is probably the best night to come here.

Me and my girlfriend were actually on our way to Pete’s to get groceries to cook but noticed the bar from outside. We stopped in and decided to eat there instead. I got the beef sliders and she got wings. The drinks were good and Not watered down. The sliders were amazing, the bread was warm and soft, the beef was seasoned perfectly and super tender. The wings full sized and were really good and the live music was also great.

Their food is soo good, and it's made fresh!! They give you alot of fish and chicken when ordered!!! Definitely motivates a consistent drink tab!!! Check them out!!

It was my birthday & came all the way Indianapolis to go there & was very happy not a lot of ppl(happy about that too) enjoyed myself. The Dj could've been a little better(that's the reason for 4 stars)

I Love this place. Ownership down to the employees are amazing, but my favorite bartender Amir keeps me coming back. He can do no wrong when making a drink. I went here looking to grab a cup of coffee, from sip and savor- found the BEST FOOD OPTION IN THE SOUTH SUBURBS YET! I’m from the city and moving to the burbs has been a hit or miss in terms of dining. Redstar is fantastic! Drinks on point, short rib and grits , pineapple mimosa and tonight I got carry out- still just as good. The service was excellent as well. Thank You Redstar, I can now stop running back to the city to find excellent food options.

We went today to enjoy brunch. My shrimp and grits were an absolute HIT(they deserve an AWARD!) A must try in my opinion! Our waitress Crystal was a jewel! She took pictures of my family for us for the occasion (birthday celebration) Service was prompt and VERY friendly! I’ll definitely be back and soon!!!

This place is absolutely phenomenal! Crystal the manager was our server she was very accommodating and had a delightful personality. Chicken was fresh. Tuesday comedy night had me rolling on the floor. I am definitely returning.

It’s nice every time I go I think it’s new workers there so they not as fast when we need them and they mess my food up but they did something about it a little. They charge for everything if you ask for ranch or anything they charge a dollar and do mix flavors I didn’t know that and our bill came out to $100 exactly and change SMH I hate coming here if the wings under a $1 why so much I just don’t understand I love cooking but not being over charge

Crystal was an amazing server, she went above and beyond to make this a great experience overall. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very inviting and such a vibe. 10/10 will recommend and I will definitely be coming back.

I come here a lot it’s really hit or miss it’s just convenient bc of location and prices , my problem this time was the cook , they gave my friend way more fries than me (picture provided will show, pic was taken before any fries was eaten on either plate) other than that it’s decent my waiter was very nice so ofc that helps

First time here the past weekend. When I first came in I enjoyed the atmosphere. People were happy and having fun, dancing. They were playing throwback music. It was just a dope environment. I meet a few new people while here and they were all smiles and cool. The bartenders did an excellent job. They seen me @ the bar w/ no drink or food and continued to check on me to see if I needed anything. I appreciated that. I eventually ordered a chicken parmesan and it looked wonderful. The next day my partner was like they do bunch too. So we went in and I got bunch. One of the male servers there gave me a little attitude, but after I placed an order he was cool cool and on business. So it appears they may not like you just sitting around conversing w/ no food or drink or nothing. Which is understandable. Food was fire 🔥. Overall, if I come back in town, this is a place I would visit; I recommend. Good music, good food. Bartenders are friendly. Ratchettness is low lol (fr tho). Just good vibes. Late night Saturday crowd appears to be like mid 20s through 40s. Check it out. And I think this is a black owned establishment if I’m correct 🔥 #Salute

RedStar in Matteson has always taken great care of me! I enjoy the friendly service and the food is amazing I ate through most of the menu and I can say the chefs back there know what they’re doing. The drinks are always good too the food is so good you sometimes forget that it’s a bar lol but it’s always a plus when they are showing NFL football on Sundays I go and watch the Bears win while eating brunch also the live bands on Saturday are Perfect for date night with the misses.

Don't get me wrong the place was packed, and the atmosphere was lit!! But the service was lacking. I ordered the grilled garlic parmesan wings and they took forever to come out. And when they did sadly they weren't flavorful at all. Our server was very nice but you can tell she was overwhelmed. Drinks were good though. The music was everything.

Unfortunately I was not satisfied with my dinner tonight. Barely enough veggies that was 4.99, they didn’t even cover the bottom of this container and my fish dinner look like it was thrown together and I had 2 different kinds of fries. My husband ordered loaded fries but got 3 dry tacos. The food was horrible tonight

This place had an amazing vibe with perfect music playing. The mimosas were incredibly refreshing. I ordered the catfish and grits, and I must say, it's the best I've ever had - no exaggeration! The only hiccup was the long wait for the food, over an hour after placing the order. But overall, my friend and I had a great time!

We had reservations which was good we sat there for about 12 minutes there was some confusion with our waitress. We ordered salmon tacos, cauliflower bites and the fried shrimp. My trio drink was very tasty. Unfortunately the cauliflower bites and salmon tacos were barely okay. I make fried cauliflower all the time these were not tasty at all... the salmon tacos were very dry. Once the waitress situated was straightened out she was very attentive. The atmosphere was very chill I was surprised to see a few children under 5 there I was unsure I thought this was a bar.. I was visiting from out of town and went with friends. Overall I would give a 3 1/2 stars the atmosphere and the drinks were definitely the highlight.

Disgusting....first off we got there at 8pm and women's bathroom was in serious disarray, btw only about 5 ladies in the place, secondly the information on the website is incorrect, nothing is as it seems. Horrible ambiance, not worth the trip

I just said keep the $3 off that 20... I'm good (SMH) ... and to think, the owner is a college Alumni (ISU)... that's not how to treat Alumni trying to SUPPORT!!! Yeah...
