We love it here! All dogs are well behaved the beach is clean. Only complaint would be the Shelly sand 🐚

Dog beach is nice - can get very busy in the Spring/Summer (and quite over-crowded), making it difficult for dogs to have a good run. Views of the port aren't particularly attractive and not one of Melbourne's best beaches, but worth a visit nonetheless.

Beach is so spacious and clean. A great sandy beach for letting your dog off leash plenty of bins for disposing dogs business. Community is very open and friendly.

Dogs are allowed off-leash on the beach between the rock groyne opposite Cumberland Road (2nd groyne from Sandridge Beach) and the rock groyne opposite Barak Road (3rd groyne from Sandridge Beach) at all times of the year. This is a distance of about 220m. For the remainder of the beach the regulations are: 1 April - 31 October: Dogs permitted at all times on the beach 1 November - 31 March: Dogs prohibited at all times on the beach Copied and pasted from Melbourne Playgrounds website.

Excellent place to take the pooch, go when the tide is low and the beach is huge and there is so much room for them to play and have a blast !! Don’t forgot the ball !

It was a nice beach but I would prefer one where the water isn’t as deep straight away. My dogs love to run through the shallow water but there they had to swim straight away.

Nice quiet spot away from the crowds. Park your car here and ride, walk, scoot as far as you can.

Obviously, check the water quality before you dip your pooch in the bay, though this applies throughout.

A beautiful spot really near to the city. If you are lucky you will be able to see the spirit of Tasmania docking near by.

Only allowed between two streets - Cumberland and Barak - yet all the signs All along the beach say they must be leashed at all times. It’s very confusing and see a lot of owners ignoring it altogether- such as at sandridge which is legally off limits yet there NO signage there whatsoever. No water areas for dogs clearly marked. The water is lovely and yet full of seaweed, in case your dog gets snooty like mine does. It is nice and quiet at 1pm on a weekday.

Water was not clean and there were many small stinging jelly fish. The beach itself is quite large, lots of space for lying around. Never too busy.
