This place is very organized and have plenty of volunteers who are passionate, professional, kind, and understanding. But I was disappointed in the donors or funders. I know that a lot of organizations and even businesses receive frozen food, thanks to the unpredictability of weather and the magic of refrigeration, but these chickens looked old! I am not sure about the quality, but I know that my meat does not look like this when I freeze it fresh. I only volunteered at this location once, and I didn't get a good look at the produce brand or get to test it, but bottom line, people deserve food that follows first class standards, and not food that is just passable.

3 stars just because is tight backing up but still possible. Only 2 trucks get in get out. Didn't know about it and I was 3 rd truck coming in. So I have to back up and wait on the street for call. Appointment for 5:30 am. Came at 5 am. Likely for me road was empty and enough room to back up. As soon you get it to facility there's No turn around. Got call at 6:20 am. Took about an hour to Unload 50 bins of watermelon

Security guard Jake is astounding, he is the heart of this place. It was only my second time here. The first time a couple years ago was unspectacular; I was picking up food for families. The staff member said as a warehouse they didn't distribute food directly and was unwilling to go the extra mile; she simply said to call elsewhere. I left with the impression that Second Harvest lost sight of who they were supposed to be serving. The 2nd time, I was helping a victim of crime who had lost everything. The doors were closed due to an employee event. It would've been a big strike two if Jake hadn't been there to save the day. He is quick on his feet and solution-oriented. He managed to find food and felt bad that it wasn't much (totally not his problem!), so he gave from his own pocket. Blew us away - never in years of working closely with social services have I seen someone who treated a stranger as family. No to mention, he also saved someone's life in the middle of all of this . A woman was climbing up the overpass and was in danger of falling/jumping into the ravine below. She may have been high or suicidal or both. Jake sprung into action mid-sentence and managed to get her to safety. Give this man a big promotion!

They definitely make efficient use of volunteer labor! I'm fit, but was still tired after a 3 hour shift. Other members of my group noted a similar experience. In the end, it was great to see how much food we packed and the impact of our work.

I was here for volunteer work from Amazon. It's amazing work that people are doing. Imagine if this is not done then how many people will be starving. I was here with my colleagues and a few other teams. We were able to pack 18 boxes of fruits and vegetables in two hours. It was such a great feeling that everyone came in as a team and worked together. There was music and everyone had fun.

This company does a great job feeding those who in need. Being volunteer here is good experience, staff is friendly for volunteers and describes what to do very well. They help you throughout the process and cheer you up afterwards with giving the numbers (rather big) of how much food is processed and how many people will get food from it.

I came here for a grocery haul donation, and the front desk person was incredibly helpful in guiding me through the process and obtaining the receipt. It seems that this is the only branch where they accept donations, while the others are volunteer branches. I hope to return here one day to volunteer myself.

Pretty good place for volunteering work. I went there with office colleagues and it was my first time participating in a volunteering event. I would say it was both fun as well as something where I was able to do something for the community. They also provided us with the contribution details at the end of our session. Very impressive.

Great place to volunteer, whether it’s just to volunteer for a good cause or required service hours. Sign up on their website and make sure to print out the hours form to get it signed if required hours. You may want to plan to sign up in advance because, depending on the time, spots can fill up quickly. The facility is very nice and clean and the team leads are very nice as well. A great organization!

We volunteered as a group at Livongo Health, and had an amazing time. There were about 20 or so folks from.our company and our task was to pack pears. We packed 10,800 pounds of pears!! It was a fun team building exercise that resulted in something great for the community. I highly recommend it!!!

Great volunteer opportunity, call or go to their website to setup volunteer signups. They even serve fresh produce and have 100s of their distribution outlets across the Bay area.

You need to register ahead of time to volunteer here. The volunteer staff are very helpful and kind with lots of patience. Sorting food here is very fast paced. Everyone has to work in coordination. After sorting the food we need to clean our food carts and floor. They strictly mentioned not to pick anything from the ground. We have to put on gloves. If we touch any personal things, we have to change our gloves. We don't waste a single minute here. They don't sign on any other third party form for volunteer hours. They have their own form and we need to fill it then only they sign it.

πŸ‘ Usually go this place for volunteering for packing fruits and vegetables that will be distributed to the people with less affordability. Nice place. Any one can sign up to volunteer on any day. Usually it's 3 house volunteership. They give you a break after the first one and half hour for half hour...
